45 degree angled sights

Recommended Posts

I want to put 45 Degree  iron sights on my DPMS Oracle LR-308. i have a scope on top. does anyone make the angled sights that i can mount on the rear of the top rail and the front one on the gas block.  My concern is that the gas block rail is a little lower than the top rail. or would you just mount the front one on the hand guard. any suggestions or links would help . Thanks guys. this is my rifle.

Lots of them in the $20-$30 range at Amazon, just do a search for '45 degree iron sights'. You will have to mount the front sight on the handguard rail if the gas block rail is lower than the one on the receiver. If they are off very much in height difference you'll probably run out of adjustment before you get them zeroed. Dueck Defense has the best ones but they will set you back about $200! I'm not that anal and use mine on my 3 gun AR for close in shots so I went with the Amazon stuff and they work just fine for me.

Nice looking rifle!

YHM makes a riser for the gas block that will put the sights on the same plane but info from another member that tried a set that way recommended against it as the riser would come loose after a bit.

yep that was me. Went to a 45 degree offset Micro red dot instead.

I tried the same thing with my Oracle but the shortest height riser I could find is 1/2". It is too tall for the DPMS gas-block, so instead of being too short without the riser it is too high with it. I don't know the height needed but it is less than 1/2". If YHM has one that is the correct height, I don't need it now because I decided to put a rail on it so I could attach a bipod, flashlight and BUIS.
