Gator Monroe Posted April 24, 2016 Report Posted April 24, 2016 Nah , I just think Magazines should not be over $7.99 (And Print Media is over rated)

Right , A 56 year old Grandfather (With same Significant other for 18 Years) ,sheesh I comment on a Magazine that prides itself on it's "Girls & Guns" and the Rat packing begins again ...
Frankh252 Posted April 24, 2016 Report Posted April 24, 2016 Love this one, offers some good advice from our fine friends at Recoil magazine.

So because of that you can't enjoy the magazine?
jtallen83 Posted April 24, 2016 Report Posted April 24, 2016 I'm a Grandfather with the one and only wife for 25 years now. RECOIL is a great rag, very knowledgeable staff and some straight up reviews, no bias for advertisers. I've subscribed for a couple years and read it since it came out. I have not seen much more than a girl of the month in the back of the mag, the centerfold is always a target. There is always a section dealing with fitness, knives, vehicles, and all sorts of gear. And yes usually an article or comment on one booze or another. The website is good as well but they always cut the article short there so you have to buy the rag to get all the info. Cost wise you have to put it in perspective, less than a ten round group of FGMM, I spend more putting holes in the centerfold than I pay for the rag. I guess if you're all about retro then it may be a little too up to date for your taste.................and yes gatorboy, you came off sounding like a Dick in this thread, don't be so damn sensitive.

I thought something had changed, when I was on the road I got the first 15-20 issues, then quit getting it because I wasn't reading as much at home. I was gonna say the only girly stuff in there was maybe two pages from what I remember. I've always followed them on social media and it's always been good, but what do I know I'm just a young punk.....

Several really interesting articles. I have only seen two or three of the John Walsh .36 cal cap and ball 12 shooters. Thanks for your posting it. I think Dickhead has some neurons stripped off. Best check those meds guy. There should be several good walkin clinics in Redding. I never buy magazines off the rack anymore. American Rifleman Guns and Ammo and a couple of quantum physics and nuclear physics society monthlys are it. I do most of my reading on my Kindle Fire tablet.
unforgiven Posted April 24, 2016 Author Report Posted April 24, 2016 Digital is the least expensive way to go.Recoil has digital media for a fraction of the cost brother.
bubbas4570 Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 Glad I didn't say anything. Whenever I looked at Recoil on the newsstands I always thought that it looked a bit too slick for my tastes, and was aimed at a more younger, urban type of demographic than I. That is why I have never purchased one, nore have paid much more attention to it since I perused the first few I had seen. That is what I get for being a curmudgeon.......
jtallen83 Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 Not everything for everyman but you can trust what they say. Their review process is great and totally unbiased by ad dollars, hence the high cost of the rag.

What??!! You think this is rocket science? I've bought two or three off-the-stand issues of Recoil. It is mostly well written, has some very complete and good reviews on various equipment, and occasionally prints some snarky remarks on things. There's a lot of effort put into it, just not my regular cup of tea.
mrmackc Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 No, since I have been retired for 19 years, I still have memberships in some of the stuff I worked with, just like to remind myself from time about some of the tiny little things that make up the universe. shooting and hunting are my life long activities. Recoil must be a newer magazine, one that I had not seen back when I checked out the magazine rack at our local Hastings book store. Now I get most of my reading material from Amazone and other electronic media.
Frankh252 Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 Well look what I ran across on the way into a local convenience store on the way to work this am. Just HAD to grab one while there.
MLC Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 I find the magazine an interesting read. Sure, it's not always 100% award winning writing, but it's more interesting than some of the other gun rags out there and most of the articles discuss things more in my wheel house.
