Want to replace it with a P.O.F. three chamber muzzle break.
82HALO Posted May 18, 2016 Report Posted May 18, 2016 Welcome from Pennsylvania! Make sure you use a barrel vise, some have used the receiver vise and lessened the barrel from the extension! May need to be heated.
EngrBob Posted May 18, 2016 Report Posted May 18, 2016 Howdy from the Texas side of the border. Is that flash hider pinned to a 14.5" barrel?
TangoKiloKilo Posted May 19, 2016 Author Report Posted May 19, 2016 Engrbob, no talked to DPMS, said only 14.5 barrels are pinned, this one just has Backstop holding it, so Im soaking it in water
TangoKiloKilo Posted May 19, 2016 Author Report Posted May 19, 2016 82 halo, yes sir not touching that upper receiver, barrel vise only but its tough because the barrel is short an the gas block is in the way
TangoKiloKilo Posted May 19, 2016 Author Report Posted May 19, 2016 82 halo, no heat per DPMS, only makes the backstop harder. I already tried alittle heat

Finally got that flash hider off, holy crap, soaked it for 2 days, tried the pipe wrench again with no results, put a little acetone on it, let it set an hour, then used a pry bar about 30 inches long an it almost jump off, amazing, barely put any torque on it at all.

What do you reckon they did? Used some good Gorilla superglue on the flash holder?

mrmackc Posted May 20, 2016 Report Posted May 20, 2016 (edited) Well How about that, , Backstop, Eh? . Never ever done heard about Backstop, I just used Loc-Tite on threads. I reckon I really am behind the times. where do you get it from? When I need to dissolve stubborn chemical adhesives I reach for the Just be careful and don't get it in your good eyeball or even your face, wear rubber gloves, a face shield or goggles when spraying it, It permanently fogged up a good pair of safety goggles for me. Crud in a Carb or throttle body isn't the only thing it will dissolve, melt, or remove, it contains Tolulene, acetone and some other powerful solvents. Edited May 20, 2016 by mrmackc
82HALO Posted May 20, 2016 Report Posted May 20, 2016 Yeah, that stuff is awesome, will cut through just about anything!
