You mean the Mexican red wolf?

As a kid, the Sonoran Desert Museum (a zoo with all the wildlife in the Sonoran desert) had a Mexican red wolf display that was empty, with a big sign that said "EXTINCT" in front of it.

Now there is one on display.  So much for extinction being permanent.

No I mean specifically the Mexican gray wolf.  I got an e-mail yesterday from some group sending out a petition to save the Mexican gray wolf.  Obviously this is distinctive from the red wolves, which are also endangered here in the USA now.  They even had some photos in the e-mail of the wolves they were referring to.
