DPMS AR-10 Problems.

I piggybacked this on another post. Sorry about that, but sounded like my problem. Anyhow, I bought a stock DPMS Oracle from a lady whose husband had passed. I also got a couple of hundred rounds of Lake City 175 grain LRHT factory ammo and one box of steel cased Tulamo. Out at our range the first round cycled OK, the next two had to be beaten out of the chamber. I sh*t-canned the rest and started using the LC and they did not fare any better. I cleaned and inspected everything. (Gun hadn't been fired very much) Anyhow I got a new barrel and BCG and still it won't cycle. I am going out to our range tomorrow and will run a few reloads and also try single loading to see if it ejects said brass. Thanks for having me. P.S. I am not new to the shooting game or the AR game, so it's got me buffaloed! More to follow.

Gonna need ALOT of details, but it's nothing that can't be sorted out.  Might seem intimidating, but it's not that bad  - here's the level of detail that we need, in order to sort this all out over the internet.  Or, send me the gun, and I'll sort it out.

How about getting us pictures and measurements per the waterboarding thread and let us help you figure the gun out.

First off it is probably not broken in yet and needs lubed extra well and shot a bit. No sense spending money on a gunsmith that probably isn't any more knowledgeable on this platform than you are. These are a different animal.

Just to clarify, the note about the nomenclature is actually a pretty big deal because a lot of vendors screw this up too. These things have enough differences that when you call everything 308 or large frame an AR-10….then find out you have a completely different barrel nut, a different length gas tube, a slightly wider pin for “xx” a different length buffer tube, the wrong spring, the wrong buffer…you get where I’m going probably. That’s why the right names matter with these, and that’s why some photos and dimensions help the folks on this side of the screen to diagnose the issue and help work towards a solution. These guys can be really helpful, but if you make it like pulling teeth to get the info they need to help you, it evaporates in a hurry. Nobody is trying to be a dick (some of us just are). Everyone here wants the end result to be you having a big smile on your face and a pile of brass next to you thrown by a functioning gun. Help us help you…no problem is unsolvable.

If not "Broken in yet" means using a hammer and wooden dowel and hitting it harder than needed to extract an empty case, I don't think I want it Broken in. Besides a new barrel and BCG and still does the same thing it is more of a problem of Breaking in. Just Sayin'

You better go to a gunsmith, we've never heard of such a problem much less been able to give advice that gets the gun running............

Good job getting the details and pictures posted, this will be great info for the next guy with a similar problem, you know, that guy that uses the search function to research and learn.

You know what didn't change when you switched barrels? The size of reamer used to cut the chamber. You're two barrels into this project and that oversized crap ammo you're trying to use is still oversized crap another barrel later.

What these guys know that you don't, is that you didn't get your original BCG "broken in" to mate and function well with your receiver; which was further compounded when you opted for an even newer tighter BCG that's even less well "broken in".

You're the expert though, so best of luck beating your new paperweight into a functional rifle, sounds like you're going to have a lot of fun figuring it all out the hard way.

Just sayin'.
