Cunuckgaucho
So first my previous hearing protection prior to these is ear foamies underneath Howard Leight electronic earmuffs. So my my observations, It comes with 3 different size ear pieces, it's important to make sure you get the ones that fit best( fill the ear cannal) I tried all three sizes at the range... it makes a difference I initially tried them at home but having never used this style of ear protection it was hard to tell on the fit. At the range it was easier to initially test but now that I have a reference fitting future ones at home will be easier. It's important to put the ear pieces in correctly with the cord coming over the ear and the ear bud angled correctly. The two things I noticed was that it was a louder than my previous ear pro( to be expected) but the low end sounds were not muffled. This was a funny side effect as I could hear all sorts of background noise/talk I never heard before( a bit distracting). This is more of an issues at the main rifle ranges as there are lots more people then the other ranges. Overall I'm pleased with these, and these will be my primary ear pro and the more I wear them the better they seem to fit/work. Shooting in small groups, compitition or in more open enviroments these are the go to. I think these will work for hunting. They are nice in that durring the cease fires there is no need to take them off as normal conversations are easy. For now I'll continue to use my old ear pro on my main rifle range do to the set up. It is an building with an open side and 18 lanes so it can get loud with large bore rifles but it's nice when shooting in the rainy season. The pistol ranges and other ranges are limited to only a few lanes and while covered not as enclosed. The other place I'll use them is in the workshop which is were the bluetooth will be nice. I like them and will likely pick up another set but might go with a non Bluetooth set, do it right I'll get work to pay for them.
MtnMike
I got the version without the Blue Tooth. Otherwise they are identical. Have used them a bit now. Sound protection is excellent. Took a while to determine the best size ear buds. Ambient sound amplification seems pretty good. No problems with conversations or hearing approaching boats and vehicles. Have not found any need to add the wind noise reduction filters so far. I am still ambivalent about using them for hunting. Where I primarily hunt, fairly dense woods and thickets, my ears are more important than my eyes for location of prey. @Cunuckgaucho You had mentioned you thought you would use them for hunting. Wondering if you have now done so. And, if so, what your thoughts were regarding their performance in that arena?
Cunuckgaucho
@MtnMike Haven't been hunting but a couple observations now that I've had them a bit. There is a difference between the foam or silicone ear inserts. The foamies do a far better job, don't last as long or easy to clean, but replacement foamies are cheap. The microphone feature is very good, on the highest setting it's probably to good as I can hear the smallest sound to he point of distraction. Maybe go for a hike in the area you hunt and try them out walking around. I suspect on the highest setting to really hear something you'll have to stand still as your movement with mask other sounds. 98Z5V
I've run both versions now (BT and non-BT) for shooting matches, and they're both great, IMHO. Running the BT version for over 1.5 years now. Easy to wear, never in the way, excellent NR (better than the NR on my Walker Stealth 2.0s, at 26). I can't complain, and would wear them hunting. Interesting, between the 2 versions. The BTs can amplify external sound in 3 steps, to max amp. The non-BTs can amplify sound in 5 steps, to max amp. I don't need BT, so I kinda like the non-BTs a little better because of that. Not saying the nons amplify sound MORE, can't decide on that yet, with two months with them. But, they have more steps in teh amplification to choose from, over the BTs. My thoughts.
MtnMike
I'm up at the lake cabin in VA this week on R&R. Sat out on the front porch for a while around daybreak with the Pro Ears on. Had seen a couple of deer out there earlier, well before daybreak, down the hill silhouetted against the background of the lake. The deer had moved on before I thought to pop in the Pro Ears. But still a multitude of wildlife moving around in the waking hour. I liked that I still had a decent sense of direction as to where the sounds were coming from while wearing the Pro Ears. That has been my primary concern with using them for hunting- would I be able to tell where the sound is coming from? The Pro Ears have now passed this preliminary test. I'll give them a go in early muzzle loading season in SC in a couple of months. Amplification level of 3 on the non-BT version that I have seemed to work best for me. Above that, the increased background static/fuzz noise seemed to outweigh any increase in the volume of the actual sounds out there. Well the trolling motor is charged, and I have worms, best get out there before it gets hot .... Edited July 6, 2023 by MtnMike
sketch
So i bought these in jan 2023. Bluetooth stopped working at about a year in. I use them when mowing the lawn. The noise canceling/ shooting , enhanced talking still works. So I bought a second pair. A yearish ago in March and same thing.. no bt. But noise canceling still works. Today's price is lower by 50$ so I'm considering another go. I like the feel, and they are attached, if one pops out i don't loose one ear bud. Has anyone had this experience? 98Z5V
Not yet. But, I don't use them for any bluetooth shiit. I use them to protect my hearing, and they excel at that. Zero issues in that regard.
98Z5V
They have the Stealth 28 HTs, which are the exact same thing, different color, and no BT. I've picked up two more sets of the HT's, working strong, 28 hour usability charge on one charge. I can run those for a full weekend of Shananigans, without recharging. Since I don't need the BT BS, I've been buying those straight HTs. No issues.
sketch
Wow! that is un useful information to my actual question or the thred title . Just to break your balls bro. I bought these from our comms, I know you run the basic like your cell. But my ? Stands for the tech bros.. lol I've talked to you several times with the bt model. When they fail the voice turns from a clear female Ai. To a slow and distorted voice. Does your non bt have a voice ? ( connected) ( power on/ off)? My BTs never had a voice, because I never had the BTd to shiit. So, whatever you BT to - I have no idea. My BTs ran great, never had an issue - until I set them on top of the tire of the truck during a shoot - after more than 2 years of use - then went to reset targets, forgot they were there on top of the tire, and ran them over when I took off. I haven't tried to put the cracked main case back together yet. My non-BTs have never had an issue - they don't have a voice, either - they just electronically cancel noise, just as they are designed. Sorry I didn't answer your question properly, and just disregard all my comments, call them moot, null and void. I've only been running these things since before they were ever introduced, and got in on the initail buy-in at 50% off, before they were ever on-market. What do I know, anyway... Call the company.... I'm not your problem... I just use them, and try to provide input on MY experience with these things and the company - since they introduced this line... Again... What do I know... Edited September 23 by 98Z5V
sketch
Well i hope to not leave my shits on my tire.. I have used the pro ears bt since you introduced me. They are my go to over muffs. I've bought 2 sets for friends. And 50. Cal tested. Gtg! Fun fact I mixed up the old first gen, with the second gen, so I'm still bting while I mow my lawn or work with saws and nail guns and 50. Cals.🤪🇺🇸 Your not my problem bro.
NF1E
Bunch of non BT for me. Great for keeping old ears working. No more pinching the fat cheeks on rifle butts with muffs. Whatta Hobby!
Albroswift
Mine expired a few months after the warranty expired. Buttons quit working. Did call the company. 2 pairs of Pro golds both started exhibiting problems, old pair had a 5 year warranty, went a good year after the 5 year warranty expired, then the right channel started screeching, the newer pair went a year after the 1 year warranty expired same issue. The pink Pro Ears I got for the woman still working. Talked to the shop about all 4, obviously I'm a repeat customer and 3 for 4 you would think they would do something to make there customer feel valued, but no, they toed the line on the warranties. Did get a nice "I'm Sorry" out of them, that and $5.00 will get you a cup of coffee at starbucks. I'm looking for a different brand for the next pair. Expensive ear protection should come with more then a 1 year warranty.
MtnMike
I have the non BT version. I use it to have hearing protection when deer hunting while maintaining the ability to hear. This will be the 4th season I've used mine, assuming I don't fill up the freezer during bow season. My only real gripe is the ear pieces tend to pull out from the tension caused by the coiled wires. Less of an issue with the silicon ear pieces than the rubber. The silicon fit my ears more snugly. Considering just using a suppressor instead. Probably, not technically quiet enough for shooting without hearing protection in .308 cal., but close. Also, I'm not shooting but once when hunting. Last time I ordered a suppressor, the wait for a federal tax stamp using Silencer Central and a gun trust was extended.
