I was looking into a FNP-45, and I found this...

Improving on the FNP-45 Tactical, developed for the U.S. Joint Combat Pistol Program, the FNX-45 Tactical is the latest in technological advancements in handgun engineering, offering 45 ACP performance and a host of unique features that no other handgun can match. The checkered polymer frame is offered in Flat Dark Earth and has a low-bore axis for reduced felt recoil and enhanced operator control. Four interchangeable backstraps come standard to quickly customize the grip feel. All operating controls are fully ambidextrous for ease of use. The 5.3" cold hammer-forged, stainless steel barrel has a threaded muzzle to accept sound suppressors, compensators and other accessories. The stainless steel slide has high-profile combat night sights and includes two mounting bases to accept multiple styles of optional red-dot electronic sights.

ROb, I wish I knew you were hot for that one - I have a really good friend here in town that has one.  Retired USBP, now works in one of the local gun shops.  He gets all kinds of screamin' deals, routinely.

My buddy has one back East.  After looking at all the affordable polymer pistols in .45acp he went with the FNH based on magazine capacity:  15+1.

Looks like $1200 for the tactical model (above) and about $700 for the standard model (not shown).

The only difference between the FNP and the FNX (that I can find) is that the FNX is compatible with a wider range of commercially available rounds.

I have the FNP 45 and love it.  It shoots great, feel great in the hand, and it's hard to beat the capacity.  I kind of wish I had gotten the tactical or the competition (not offered in the FNX 45 afaik).  I will likely never need a threaded barrel, but the ability to add a holo sight would be great.
