Mostly thinking 12 since I can free float a handguard full barrel length easily. This one is going to be just a "play" rifle, short range target and no other particular planned use. So i'd rather have it smaller/lighter as I'm not looking for extended accuracy I could do it as a pistol as well rather than the carbine stock. I'm just trying to start early planning now, so I can work out getting parts as cheap as possible this time around :) Edited April 24, 2013 by EasyEJL

That rail used to be a Midwest 10" SS rail, and I cut it down to about 8.5". The KX3 was inside it, as a 10", by about 1/4". CHOPPED! <laughs> If you run something in the 7~8" range, run a KX3 on it. Take my word for it. If you don't, the concussion is pretty damn awesome...

I figure I'll just keep hunting and see what I can find between now and the end of the year. The lower won't be ready till the end of June at soonest anyhow, and I need to start shooting the 308. Should finally have the lower tomorrow, ordered it in January

EasyEJL Posted May 14, 2013 Author Report Posted May 14, 2013 its funny, I hadn't joined up at weapons guild in time to catch it, but they had someone selling blemished 300 AAC barrels for $90 each. 16" ones, but I think those would cleanly cut down to 12 without it being a big deal
98Z5V Posted May 14, 2013 Report Posted May 14, 2013 You really have to match the gas port size and gas system length to the barrel length on the 300BLK. That one, cut down, would probable require some "experimentation."
