If anybody sees 12.5 " 300 AAC or 223 barrels cheap, let me know

Well, its definitely going to be 16 or shorter. Even down to 10 would be ok. Mostly thinking 12 since I can free float a handguard full barrel length easily. This one is going to be just a "play" rifle, short range target and no other particular planned use. So i'd rather have it smaller/lighter as I'm not looking for extended accuracy

I could do it as a pistol as well rather than the carbine stock. I'm just trying to start early planning now, so I can work out getting parts as cheap as possible this time around :)

That top one in the pic I listed is a 7.5" with a Noveske KX3 on it.  That rail used to be a Midwest 10" SS rail, and I cut it down to about 8.5".  The KX3 was inside it, as a 10", by about 1/4".  CHOPPED!  <laughs>

If you run something in the 7~8" range, run a KX3 on it.  Take my word for it.  If you don't, the concussion is pretty damn awesome...

I've found a few, but still mostly in the 250-350 range. I figure I'll just keep hunting and see what I can find between now and the end of the year. The lower won't be ready till the end of June at soonest anyhow, and I need to start shooting the 308. Should finally have the lower tomorrow, ordered it in January
