shepp
The stock maxxis were wimpy and didn't go thru the snow all that great. Picked up some interco swamp lites. they are alittle soft I'm going to have to take it easy when I plow, but man they go thru the snow like a hot knife thru butter!!! Going to try changing the belt but a clutch upgrade maybe next I slipped the belt a lot more then usual today. We havnt got a big snow storm yet this year but it's snowed 3-4" at a time a lot! The pile of snow in the last picture could easily fill a dump truck

98Z5V
Those are good tires, brother - when it's time for the belt, don't go OEM Polaris. Look at the EPI Severe Duty belts instead. Hell of alot tougher than the OEM belt. http://www.erlandsonperformance.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=EPI&Category_Code=beltatv

Sent him tire size elevation model and normal uses for quad. Needless to say I got a HD clutch kit coming......... F there goes some gun money. 98Z5V
On that rig, you can almost take care of heavy duty clutching yourself - about all it takes is different shift weights in the primary clutch (3 of them in there) and a different spring in the secondary clutch. Some guys change the ramp profile of the helix in the secondary, but that's not as important as the shift weights and springing. EPI sells all the parts. You'll need a special tool, or a custom-made tool to change the spring in the secondary - you let that nut loose without those two sheaves being compressed, and that biotch will come apart and take your head off. Sisco
Nice tires I have something similar on my Honda Foreman. Got the Electronic Shift one so no belt worries.

Yea he's just sending me the springs and weights, and I watched the video on EPI's YouTube channel. I'm going to build a compression tool outta some threaded rod washers and nuts, wish I could figure out how to pull the primary with out their 40$ bolt aka puller (scratch that just found one on fleabay for have the price) Belts are pricey, shafts U joints and sensors are alot more. Also throwing an extra or used belt in the trunk for a back up is a lot easier then all that other stuff. I like Polaris because their American built (for the most part) I like the ride, and I like how I feel sitting on one. I'm 6'2" 240# on a Polaris I feel like I'm "sitting In it" a bit, three of my friends ride yamaha's my boss has a rincon and they all feel funny to me like you could be bucked at anytime that's me tho. Armed Eye Doc
Shepp, you need to lay on your side next time you take pictures so they will be straight! <lmao> I was gonna say that those tires have a hell of a grip to hold on a vertical surface in the snow. <laughs>

shepp
Put a clutch kit in today and took it out in the hay field across the st from work. Can't say I felt a huge difference but it's kinds hard to tell with a foot of snow still on the ground and I don't wanna tear up the tires on the asphalt, but damn she sure throws a roast of snow!!!!!! Few days ago I asked the boss if he had an ATV lift he says no........why don't you just bring it here and use the fork lift. That was an ingenious idea!!!!! Best lift ever!!!! Then I took her home and tried getting her stuck in my yard
DNP
Start shipping that white crap our way. We could use a little up in the hills! That is a great lift. I'm heading up to grab my bikes right now. I keep em stored up at my parents. They have a whole lot more room than I have.
shepp
Lift was awesome if I needed head level it was there, if I needed to get under it , up it went. To old for that crawling around on the floor BS I do enough of that while at work That's the pile of snow I've plowed off my drive way lol. We lost a lot tue-thurs it was 35-40* and then poured rain Thursday. I'm not ready for it all to melt yet, still wanna get some ice fishing In the 20-35* weather sure was nice tho. Ps that picture does the angle of the bank no justice, I had to roll off it and literally jump back on it lol. What do you ride again dirk? DNP
YFZ 450's. Used to be a big fan of the 250R's but got tired of mixing fuel. Rode a buddy's 450 and ran out and bought two of em back in 04. Tom's badass red R was my wife's old bike. It was a pile of stock parts when Tom got it...and now that thing is a monster. 98Z5V
I love that 250R, brother. Love it. I burned up that one piston on the stock cylinder with lean jetting, but after going to that 310 setup and a FAT main jet, it's right where it needs to be. That thing is the perfect dune machine for me. Dan and I learned a valuable lesson this year in the sand, too - when you tell us not to clean your carb, just do it anyway... <lmao> Worked like a champ on Dusty's bike. We'll feed you a few beers, distract you with something, and steal your carb. In March, your carb is coming out. I'm just sayin'... <thumbsup>
DNP
It'll be clean before it gets there....they are home now. I have two new YTZ10S batteries sitting here...they're going to get fresh oil and filters. Maybe even new air filters. Carbs hosed out and tires inflated...full service. Those bastages WILL run like new when they roll out. No dune surgery necessary this time.
98Z5V
No dune surgery necessary this time. But... :'( That's half the camp fun, right there. Just add beer, and it's on... :-[
shepp
Never had a sport quad I've road them they don't really fit my style. I've road a few but a foot of snow or the logging road where I hunt they're either stuck or you hands about ready to fall off from running the clutch. My buddy had a raptor a year or two after they came out that thing was retarded if heard the same about the. 450 's. Rode a 2 stroke yami one year up north a barrowed from a friend . Not a banshee it was smaller,

shepp
That's it !!! Was fun but not the right machine for the terrain. Kicked ass on the fire roads tho!!! Real light in the front end
DNP
Tom, if you need a dune project...we can try to figure out why the rhino feels like she's driving with a brake on. Belt slipping....I don't know. It's going to be a good trip no matter what man. Maybe we can talk Shepp into cruising out?
