blue109
while I'm not saying I want one...Chinese products can be high quality. the US generally only buys cheap crap from them. I'd be interested to put hands on a Norinco AR Just to see how it feels. the Kershaw knives made in the Kershaw owned factory in China are just as nice as the US made ones. The quality is only one factor of my decision, I would be more opposed to buying one simply because its not made in this country. I would rather buy a made in the USA product to help keep a fellow american employed and help put food on his table.

I spend a lot of time making sure what I buy is quality and made in the USA or equivalent. USA - Germany - Japan - Europe - Eastern Europe - Korea, Taiwan - China - in that order of elimination. If it says "Made in China" on it, I only buy it when there's no other choice. Edited March 31, 2014 by shibiwan
planeflyer21
I use a similar system but a different reasoning methodology. By Made In The USA first, if there is a choice. Next comes Made In Mexico…keep those phuckers down there and employed. After that comes Canada and Europe, primarily for quality reasons over the remaining choices. Then comes Neighbors of China. Support the bullied over the bully.

I bought a Norinco 1911 back before the guvmint stopped letting them be imported (probably 20 years ago). I've owned a lot of different 1911's and 'smithed on even more. That Norinco was a better gun than some American made 1911's! I customized it (checkered frontstrap, trigger job, better sights, beavertail grip safety and extended thumb safety) and reblued it. I gave it to my older son years ago and he still has it. I would actually like to get it back, but he won't give it up.
BigBore77
I think 14.5" barrel makes it Class 3 unless the flash suppressor extends to16" and is welded. I'll buy US anyway. Price isn't that much lower than what you can get some US guns. Junk or quality, it's still from COMMUNIST China, the country that killed a bunch of US soldiers in the Korean war, just in case you youngsters didn't get the full version of American history in the "new" schooling. Just my two cents worth.

shibiwan
That's a ridiculous price to be asking for chinese-made crap. It should be like $10.
blue109
that's a little silly. I can build nice guns for that price. I'd still like to get hands on a complete just to see the guts. I've read about cast looking gas keys and things like that. just curious.

I've read about cast looking gas keys and things like that. just curious. I wouldn't be surprised - it seems like that's the thing they do over there. We had our CNC'ed oil fittings knocked off in China and they were cast off our original pieces using some unknown pot metal. Ended up porous and bubbly inside and the only way we found out was we were getting a ton of calls and complaints of why "our" sh*t were breaking.
