unforgiven
Went to the range yesterday for some much needed trigger time.Just about 50* out. got there @ 10 am. already crowded.Sighting in the 14.5 5.56 i forgot my shooting bags so I figured I'll just use my range bad for a rest.Guy next to me said " hey bro something is burning" took a look and sure as $hit it was my fuken bag.Had my cleaning supplies in blue bag CLP and oily rag but that didn't catch WTF.Every once in awhile I get to show myself I'm not very bright. <lmao>
Robocop1051
I had an uncle who was prone to carelessness (as CSM-H can attest). He once used my father's vest as a cushion while shooting at a buck. The muzzle didn't even clear the rest it was on, and the ensuing blast burnt a baseball size hole in the shoulder. BigP623
Last range trip my step dad was sighting in his 12 gauge with sabot slugs. It was windy and we had our usual towel on the concrete shooting bench. He was using a rest borrowed from the range (little foam one) and just as he was about to shoot the wind kicked up, blew the towel over the barrel just as he was pulling the trigger. Needless to say the sabot and the blast ripped the towel half way off the table taking the rest with it and letting the barrel hit the exposed concrete. Ive never seen my step dad so pissed as the shotgun was his dads and didn't have a scratch till that day.
unforgiven
And if that wasn't bad enough,I depressed the clip latch and let a full clip of 8 30-06 rds. hit me in the head. :-[ Don't know if anyone saw.Picked it up put it in rifle and started blasting in the standing position. If you looked up nOOB my pic would have come up. <dontknow> This rifle will not beat me......this rifle will not beat me ....this rifle will not beat me. <lmao> <laughs> Mr. Garand got to be laughing his ass off. :yup:

Microgunner
Way to go schmo hawk. At least the bag has "character" now. I've never heard of M1 head before. I used to have a FN FAL and had the forestock resting on a range owned sandbag which had been completely wrapped in silver duck tape. While shooting I didn't notice the rifle forestock had slipped off the bag and the barrel was resting on the bag. I finally noticed this because of the smoke. You know that shiit will melt all thick and silver on your barrel? Edited April 1, 2014 by Microgunner
Rsquared
Yep Rene. Those Garands will pop those mags out pretty sturdy. Did you at least hear the "ping" right before you yelled ouch? <laughs> I say it with love brother. We've all had little learning lessons with our Garands. And the thumb <thumbsup>. We only do it once before we learn.
