That woman lost her husband very recently. He died defending our freedom. Political photo op or not, is it really worth throwing that in her face and taking away a meaningful moment to her in what will likely be the hardest time of her life? Plane's comment about saying it with a little more tact is also a good one.
His company doesn't agree with his view or at least the phrasing of it and it has since brought negative light upon them. Sure, we can blame the folks who took the time to dig up where he works...but he's still the one who made the shitty comment. And not in a bar, or at the dinner table behind her back. He made it to the world and essentially to her in open view. He can live with the consequences of his action. Have a little respect.
