  1. Crap...not THAT guy!.... where is waldo anyways?
  2. Happy Father's Day to you guys too. Spent the day working in the back yard. My dad came over and helped out for a few hours. Was a good way to spend the day. Got the 4x6 main posts set for the new trellis/pergola/2 story apartment blocker.
  3. I'm throwing this in he first Desert Tech thread I could find.... Desert Tech had a little promo shoot in El Centro last weekend. Went down with a few friends and tried one out. Was going to try out a few, but one was good enough. Triggers were really nice and it was a very easy gun to shoot. The bolt operation feels a little unnatural, but you get used to it quick. This was the 6.5 Creedmore I wanted to shoot their .338 or the .375 Cheytac, but they were charging $10/round to shoot those. I wasn't THAT interested. These rifles are pricey, way pricey.
  4. I'm all in favor of the right to opinion, but if you read that article and truly believe that info somehow links Kaine to the shooter, well...the tinfoil might be on a little too tight. There's more evidence that Trump is a Russian puppet than that article gives to its title. That's not a site I've ever visited, but from a quick glance it appears to be no better than any liberal rag with random accusations and zero backup.
  5. I echo what everyone here has already said. I'm sorry for your losses, happy for your son, and pray for your strength as you move through these times. I'm about 10 years behind you, but know that sooner than I would like I will see more of what you are going through. Vent all you need to, this place is great for that as we have a little bit of everything here and this group has seen and been through it all collectively.
  6. And of the 35 a day....how many are suicides and gang related? How many are law abiding firearm owning citizens?
  7. 93 million a day would be interesting. That must be worldwide, or injuries at 93/day. Statistics show close to 13000/year in the US which is more like 35/day. There are 30+k injuries in the US per year which is closer to 93/day.
  8. Did you rush out in the alley in your underwear waving a gun this time?
  9. Wash...I got mine ordered. Thanks for the link. It's a little pricey, but hell...if it's half as bad ass as you say it is...

Very sad news indeed. Thats crazy-survive the broken neck and get killed by the tube that's supposed to help save you.
  11. You should have sold them your Arizona beach house

    Grilling

poor PSA guys...they always get the brunt of the joke. My first gen of the JD Machine stuff had its issues. Good news is not a lot of guys own em...so I never caught a lot of heat. I'm probably going to go with the 600 dollar one. Happy birthday to me! Thanks for the input. I used a nice one when I worked at a butcher shop in highschool...wish I could spend a few thousand, but with the limited cutting I'll be doing...that might be overkill.

Who has a meat slicer they love? I'm ready to buy one. Been researching and a lot of the little ones claim no good for cheese. Found one for about $600 that seems really nice, but don't know if I should spend that much. I was really hoping to keep it under $400

Cubs Scouts and Boy Scouts place them here. I forget how many flags they put out. Dylan and I will be there next year when he starts his first year as a Tiger. God is bless all of those who have gone, all of those who are here and all of those who will go for this country in the future. Their sacrifices are not and will not be forgotten.

The way those guys cook it on a Santa Maria style grill...is the absolute best way. You say when you're ready and we'll ship a few your way. Costco sells decent packs of tri-tip here. Haven't really noticed a difference with prime/choice...it's all good. Salt/pepper/garlic...all it needs.
  16. Gave and sold all your gear??? You're committed to not "coming out of retirement" for anything in that line of work. Smart move. You to the old boss-"I'd love to help you on that, but I sold all my gear years ago. Good luck with that project, I'll be here working on the bike and drinking beer if you want to stop by." you might miss that laser when you get some of your new chores at home. I don't wanna see curtains at uneven heights.
  17. Congrats! It's a loooooong way away for me. Although I'll be home not working soon if Cali has their way. Keep us posted on the new hobbies as they start showing up. Relax, heal well. I look forward to getting a chance to meet you someday soon. I'd say beers are on me, but rumor has it I might not be able to afford that. So, a few beers on me when we meet up.
  18. Settle down Francis, that was only a shot at Robo.
  19. That's pretty bad it took this long. Even CMMG had a spot...a lonely spot, but it was still a spot.
  20. Tom, I agree with a lot of your points, but I don't feel it's that there is no one they think they can talk to. It's more that there is no way they're willing to talk to anyone. Especially men and probably even more so the ones who seem to be very intelligent. They can solve any problem except for their own. They don't want to show their weakness, they don't want to burden those around them with their issues and they self destruct with a storm of emotions and contemplations on the inside while trying to maintain the appearance to everyone around them that everything is fine. The thought of admitting to someone that they're on the edge is even scarier than the thought of leaving everyone behind. It's definitely a selfish act, but once those thoughts are planted I don't think there is any ammount of brain wrangling anyone can do to make them disappear forever. That's not saying that I don't think someone can be on the edge and never come back and live out the rest of their life, but that those thoughts, those dark emotions are always there. There isn't a corner of the mind far enough away to tuck them into and never think about again. Knowing there are people that care, knowing that they will be missed is help for some, but on the other hand it's a bonus for others. There are those that want to cause pain in the lives of everyone around them when they go. Stories like the one above with the guy calling the stepdaughter. It's hard to tell what anyone is thinking at any given time and it's impossible to know what help needs to be offered to unlock it. Some may need to talk about it, some may just need an escape from their everyday routine so they can change their own thought patterns and give themselves the chance to direct their focus elsewhere for a bit. I think of a lot of you here as family and would be willing to help anyone here in anyway I can. Tell the people you love that you love them and be a good friend to those you care about. It's all you can ever do. And if in the end their thoughts still outweigh the help they know they have available...they may just choose to end it. Don't think twice about how you could have done something different. Most of them wouldn't want you to carry any of that load for them. Those that are out to cause damage will do it, that's messed up, but I don't think those that just grow tired of tearing themselves apart do it to bring any question or pain to the lives of those who were close.
  21. Probably better for all of us if he doesn't. In fact, he may want to step away from firearms all together. He's the poor bastard that actually buys stuff from telemarketers when they call.
  22. Well, first off congrats on the purchase. And if it makes you feel better...only load one round at a time until you're comfortable with a few more behind it.
  23. I usually just use a finger, but hey...whatever floats your boat.

    Playoff Hockey

I keep getting tricked into reading this thread. Guess I'll have to start paying attention to hockey.
  25. Crap. Excellent purchase.
