  11. We set up a studio for every friggin holiday for the first few years of my oldest boys life. I feel terrible that I've slacked on the youngest. I have an addictive personality. Photography started out cheap for me, just like guns...but that crap adds up. "Well if I get this...I need two of those...and if I have those I should probably get that too". I started with a 20d which is a 1.6 crop canon and a few cheap lenses. Bought the 1d which is still a 1.3 crop sensor and stated picking up some white glass. Then it was off to strobes and remote gear, then studio lights...recently picked up some more stands and modifiers....now I need.....a friggin money tree for the backyard. Maybe a few of em. With Cali's crazy laws, I picked up 5 more AR lowers last year and if I have to go the "registration as an assault weapon" route...those all need to be complete guns by the end of the year. Yay! It's all a sickness. I convinced myself, and my wife that I could make money with the gear. I love photography, but hate dealing with people....so that was not going to work out. At least she likes to shoot and prefers that our family be well armed. That makes the gun/gun part purchases a little easier to pull off.
  12. Absolutely and I'm in the same boat. Body envy is the current issue. I loved my 1d mkII-n when I bought it. It's still my main body, but I've barely had the gear out in the last few years. My youngest will turn 2 in April and I still haven't taken any serious photos of him. I want a new body badly, but $4k would buy a few guns or maybe some ammo to last a while. There's still a few pieces of glass on the old wish list-probably another 4-5k for the 2-3 lenses I'd love to have in the bag. Not to mention the 70-200 2.8IS saw a lot of time in the dirt and could probably use a replacement. There's another 2500. I bet I had 20-30k into equipment at one point. I bet I could sell it all now for just a few thousand. At least the lenses hold value fairly well. Last race I shot was in 2010 when my first boy was born. Don't think I've done a paid gig since. I know way more and probably get more excited about photography than I do guns, but I love to shoot and enjoy the heck out of the company on this site...so this became the new home. Just moved from one sort of shooting to the other.
