I like one piece mounts , but have not found one yet that fit my cheek weld height . Maybe I just have a fat head

I'm a Criterion Barrel pusher , I used to have three , but sold the 18" , kept the 20" & the 16" , all had no issues with sub MOA . Seems they made their 20" 1-11 twist rate now , mine is a Fulton Barrel , Kreiger /Criterion 1 -10. The 18" , 1-10 I had was their Hybrid , S/S , Nitrated , great barrel . The 18"

Wonder if that shipping date is actually , up to date , at this time . Also wonder what that set up weighs ( compared to the Areo set up ), unless that is not a concern for you .

Some basic questions : -Are you sure the Scope & mounts are tight & secure ? -What scope & mount are you using ? -If you grab the Barrel in one hand & the Handguard in the other , is there any play between the two . reason I'm asking is because I have found loose barrel nuts on some rifles & that was the cause of poor grouping . - Whats the round count on this barrel ? Most DPMS Barrels shoot very well , but you could have got a bad Chamber or Barrel . You have a good Trigger , so that part of the DPMS is eliminated

These were a newer batch of reloads & I used the Lee factory Crimp Die & I never heavy crimp anything . I remember when I first started reloading .223 ,for a Mini 14 & put a good crimp on them & my first batch would not chamber , lesson learned . Too late now to look at these cases , because they are all Annealed , sized & cleaned , ready to trim. I don't think you can have Shoulder set back with a LFC die , or can you ? I also thought I saw some land marks on the Bullets of the ones that got stuck in the chamber.

S&W Eliminated From Mod Pistol Testing

They probably knew their choice before the trials started ! -
I had an issue at the range with some loads with the 110gr. Hornady V Max bullet in the 300BLK . It didn't show up till the last ten rounds fired or should I say didn't fire . I had an issue with the Bolt not going into Battery , note that about 100 rounds of this Bullet load had already been fired & over a hundred rounds of the other Bullet configurations before these & no obstructions were found , oiling was Ok , rounds would just stick in the chamber & I would have to Mortar the Round out of the Chamber . Needless to say I was done for the Day anyway , so when I got home I checked the rest of the ammo of this 110gr. loading , first thing I looked at was COL & they were on average 0.028" over max & then looking at my loading records , I see that I loaded them close to that @ 2.020" , again that 0.020" over max of my data for this Bullet . Since I test live loaded ammo , along with a Dummy round that is made for each Bullet Configuration I load for , I know these fed & chambered . Now we come to the why were these last ten an issue & why were they longer COL. Come to find that , that not all Polymer tips are made a like & these are no different , some Bullets are longer then others , just as I found with some Nosler 308 Bullets I have used . There was another factor which came into play , These were loaded on my Dillon 550 , not that that is an issue , its the Forster Seating Die , this is one of the first die sets out for the 300BLK , at the time , no one else made them for the 300BLK , on the Dillon , the stem for seating these short Bullets Is so far into the Die Body , that I can barely have a thread to lock the Stem down & looking at the Die , the Stem was loose , so I have no idea if this was the issue of why the , what I think is the last rounds loaded were off , as far as COL or the combo of the Stem being loose & the different length of Polymer tip length . I will be loading these bullets at a shorter COL , since I made them above the max , to begin with was probably part of the issue , if I would have kept to the 2.000" max ., I probably would not of had any issues , be it loose Die Stem or the small Bullet length issue . This Die has no issue with my Single Stage Press , so I will be seating them with my single stage , until I find another Die or see if Forster has a longer Seating Stem .

If you haven't got your Receiver set yet , there may be a wait for what you want . Unless you have a line on a set already . 308AR stuff is few & far between right now . There is a thread in this section about it .

They look for any reason to riot & loot , Looting being the primary goal in most of them , now its Soros , who thinks he can make $$ off of civil unrest or what it to help his Communist agenda .

The truth will not matter to the Commie's , these POS's are probably their troops ! -
Just think if it was a man , passing gas from his penis

The Rail & Front sight Tower & Gas Tube ,are dead nuts aligned , set up with a Laser & measurements & leveling , which took some time to figure out & set up. The rear sight also shows , through measurements , is centered . Like has been said , it just doesn't like the Ammo type , really doesn't like 55 gr. Bullets,, we will see shortly . Unfortunately , I'm busy tomorrow , my upstairs A/C Evap fan took a $hit & I have to replace the motor .
-
This Barrel really doesn't group bad , at all , just way to the right & it does center with the rear peep sight all the way left . I know I have had some 1-9, 20" barrels that would do almost the same , but not to this extreme , where the sight is all the way to the left , they would be half way between center & left go the sight travel, you still had plenty of adj. left to use . Not so with this rifle or Barrel . The Gas tube is centered in the Channel , at least now .
-
At 100 yards , I can understand that , but to have the sight windage all the way over at 20 yards , doesn't leave any room for any down range adj. . I've just never seen almost a foot off at that short of distance , sure with different bullet weights , you expect to see some adj. needed between them , but man ,almost 1' is a really big & something I'm not used to . Like I said, these 1-7 twist rate is new to me & I already don't like it , it could be just this BBL. too . More testing , I'm going to get a 1-9 to compare , hell , I might have one in there some where .

Damn , I thought my 20" HB 308 bbl. was heavy & its got a 0.936" Gas Block Journal . I like the 22"

He's not that type to dump Mags , but i have no problem doing his rifle for him My wife's Carbine , has a 1-8 Wilson Combat barrel , but my Piston gun has a new 1-7 . It has a scope on it with QR Warne rings , so I will put some BUIS on it & do a shoot out with the Colt . Learn something new every day around here . Here's a good one for you Robo , a group of LE had a Glock Armorers course next range over , I parked next to one of the guys & asked what was going on & he told me they were just issued Glocks & they were all getting used to them . I said , I thought those Austrian hand cannons never quit working , so why the Armorers course , he got a good laugh out of it & I'm sure that went around those guys shooting .

I would think the SS 109 would fly different because of the Steel penetrator , not the same as full lead core . I have shot many M16's & AR's with 1-14, 1-12 & 1-9 & I have a 24" 1-10 & never had an issue with 52 gr. match 55 gr. match & FMJ & 69 match , loads with Iron sights . That 1-7 seems unforgiving in bullet weight choices . , I think I have the same twist rate on my Piston build & my wife Carbine , now I have to look & I have Irons on my wife now , so I guess Ill take it with me to the range with this Colt .

What made you decide to move to the 308 AR/AR-10 Platform?
survivalshop replied to imschur's topic in General Discussion
Ya, their 155 gr. Match Bullet is a HP or HPBT . -
So your saying I should try some 62 gr. loads , I have some Hand loads & some green tips.
-
Shot the rifle today , but it still shoots to the right . The alignment did help , at least the rear peep is not maxed to the left & the grouping is centered . I was wondering , since I really don't have much experience with the 1-7 twist , I know its for shooting the heavier bullets , would a 62 gr. loads ammo shoot better or shoot closer to the center of the target ,then the four 55 gr. loads I used today , two 5.56 loads ( factory ), one S&B 223 ( factory ) & one of my Hand loads , all 55 gr. all printed right, almost a foot , off a sand bag rest at 20 yards. After the sight was adj. to the left , @ 100 it was the same , but for me me & my old eyes , it could have been me but was consistent with the shorter range . I just can't believe seven grains would make the barrel shoot more to the left , This one has me puzzled , beginning to think the Barrel is $hit .

I like a lot of magnification myself , basically the 338 fed has ballistics of a 30'06 , so a 3x9x what ever, should work fine . I have a couple of Burris scopes that have their Ballistic Plex reticle & I really like their E1 reticle , it also has side markings for windage or moving game . Something to look at , as with the others mentioned here.

What do you plan on using this rifle or Caliber for ? If its hunting , 50-300 yards , any old Duplex or BDC recitals would work .
