Replace the Upper with an Aero & be done with the fitment issue .It can probably be fitted , but unknown if any other fitment issues after doing so .

More then likely by not being able to set the Disassembly Pin in place, its the cause of the BCG hitting the Receiver Extension . What has been said is correct , there is more then likely Tolerance Stacking of the two different manufacturers Receivers & as said the easiest way is to swap out the Upper with an Areo & sell the PA 10 Upper . I would like too see Photo's of the Fitment issue also .

Bates Here's a 308AR , 18" med. contour Hybrid Criterion S/S , Nitrated Barrel with DD Brake, with Magpul MOE Rifle stock , JP 12.5" Hand guard , & Nikon Buckmasters 6x18x40 scope for you to look at .

If you plan on using BUIS with the different height rail sections , it will make a difference in sighting through them . The Hand guard should fit the Rifle , I don't know of anyone that has one on a S&W M&P 10. Someone here may speak up if they do . There are some that have them on different brand Receivers though .

Try to find a DPMS mag. or try to find a early LR 308 PMag , some have had issues with the Gen 3 with the Bolt stop , because the Mag's Follower isn't going high enough to engage the Bolt Stop , who knows what other issues it could cause in some 308AR's . Its worth a try to use different Mags . , also might want to inspect the feed ramp , make sure there is a smooth transition for the Cartridge to feed with out it being bumped up out of the normal feed path . Since the Ball ammo is feeding , the feed ramps would be a good place to look . One thing at a time, try a different Mag first , in my measurements of different mags ,the DPMS & Lancer L7's set the cartridge the highest in the the mag well & a little higher of an angle , may be all that is needed for the rifle to feed reliably .

If properly set up ,a Crush washer should work . Its the Peel washers that are a hassle , they work , but are a bit of a bitch to work with . With the Barrel clamped in a Vice with Barrel blocks , the Crush washers work fine for timing . I've never heard of using two Crush washers or have never needed more than one . If you look at where the Barrels Muzzle sits inside the Brake or Comp.( or even a Flash Suppressor ) , its easy to see where the Device should sit . Its not only timing , the Barrel has a Crown for a reason & the Muzzle Device has a set point to get the most efficiency from it , as far as the expanding gases from the Barrel & how they are controlled . If you set the Muzzle device too far out from how it is designed to work , it will shield the Muzzle blast & make the Crown on the end of the Muzzle useless & may effect accuracy . I'm sure you can just throw these things on & they work .

If you want a 308 , as said above , the 16" is all that is needed , unless you plan on mostly long range shots , but for quick shots the 16" would is a fast swinging rifle . I'm not a fan of Thin Pensile Barrels , to me on a 308 , a med. contour is a better choice IMO. Stainless Steel barrel , be is a good choice for a hunting rig. 3x9x40( 50 )scope is good , but if wanting quick closer range shots , a more compact scope may work better for you . Having a very low mounted Scope on any AR can be problematic for most large framed men or women , to get proper sighting through it . Stock choice , is a matter of what fits you & what you plan on using the rife for , Collapsable stocks are good for a verity of reasons , adj. length of pull , if wearing a lot of heavy clothing or Tactical gear , Rifle stocks work good ,but are not adj. , if not needed , the Magpul MOE rifle stock is an great rifle stock , much better then the A2 AR stock . A good FCG ( Trigger ) is also important , there are so many now a days , look in the various sections on 308 parts here on this sight & you will get a feeling on what most are using & what other components are the most popular . Make a list on what you intend on using & the manufacturers & the comments will follow . Know this , the 308AR Platform is not like its little brother , some manufacturers don't play well with others , there are no real comparable spec's like on the all MilSpec AR 15 .

One thing you have to as yourself , is ,was this Muzzle device made to work or designed to , with a Jam Nut ?

Use "Rock Set "& Shimming the Shims can be stained or Blued to cover them up if they even show up . Or a out of spec Gage to begin with .
