  1. That code is a year old I see . I have a std M16 BCG in my 300 BLK with 16 " BBL. & carbine gas system, works fine . I may try the TI coated one , if I can get 10% off . I really want a complete NIB coated BCG , but a TI w/Nitrated Bolt would work , the Nitrated stuff has impressed me so far .
  2. If any of you have purchased ALG HG's in the past ( I have two ) they do not include a Barrel Nut wrench any more it seems , by this statement or note on their sight . Just a heads up , because I got that Purple thing with both of mine , its a nice wrench . Note: IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST TIME PURCHASING AN ALG DEFENSE RAIL, YOU WILL NEED TO PURCHASE A BARREL NUT WRENCH IN ORDER TO PROPERLY INSTALL THE RAIL.
  3. I need a BCG for an AR 15 , will the code work for the baby AR ?
  4. Figues Robocop would bring this one out , looks sorta like the one in the movie , Robocop .
  5. Scat is animal waste found in the field when tracking an animal , its a sign the animal was in the area .
  6. Pretty sure you can cut them down & reform them , but as you say , why bother , plenty of 308 brass around , the 300BLK was kinda scarce at first , but it to is available now a days .
  7. Some Photo's would help to make sure of the components are what they are .Also with the Carbine or retractable stocks , there is a Commercial size & the MilSpec size , OD Receiver Extensions ( Buffer Tubes ). The Rifle length ( A 2 ) are all the same OD . & unless you plan on using Armalite AR 10 Buffer system , the AR 15 Receiver Extensions will work . I also don't know anything about those fancy Buffer systems .
  8. Rule 65B is that , you should have purchased it when you first thought about buying it , because its will be gone if you don't . Any other rules , we make up as we go , if your a victim of one , its your own fault . The " Rule " is posted around here somewhere , if you read enough Threads .
  9. Any 38+P short barreled Revolver , I say +P only because they are made a little stronger , with the same size spec's , as std 38 special . My Wife's S&W 642 Airweight with internal Hammer is an easy rev. to shot & carry . She loves it , I had to buy her something to get her away from carrying my Colt King Cobra around , that is a Hand Cannon & too valuable for her to carry any way .
  10. Thats not the reason for this test , remember this barrel is shooting to the right with the sights aligned ( with a Laser ) dead in the middle plane of the rifle , as are the other two test samples . This rifle , before I reset the front sight & Barrel Nut , was shooting even farther to the right by at least an inch or more . The Barrel Nut was was not aligned properly for the Gas Tube to be tweaked to one side , no doubt it was rubbing the Gas Key , but that would not make the Barrel shoot to the right , what I think it did was put pressure on the Pinned Front sight tower when assembled to make it torque to one side . I proved , at least that , with the Laser & after adj. the Barrel Nut properly with the Gas Tube passage in the Upper Receiver & reseting the Sight tower ( A2 ) , the Front Sight was right in line with the Middle of the Upper Receiver , using the Laser . My reason for this test was not grouping , it was seeing if the different ammo would shoot differently from this Colt & using two other rifles , one with same twist rate , to see if this Barrel on this Colt is shooting out of spec's , which I believe it is , maybe not way off , but not normal . I thought the barrel would show it would shoot more to the center of the target with one of the 62 gr. loads , but all three rifles , one with a 1-8 twist rate , all shot about the same with different loadings & bullet weights & types . All three Barrels shot very well IMO , with the 1-8 Wilson Combat , match Barrel shooting the best IMO , don't know if it was the Barrel , the twist rate or IMO a better sight picture through the MechArmor BUIS , the Piston Build had the best Trigger of the three , a Rough Justice FCG , the Colt Trigger was not bad at all & the POF has a Spikes Tactical Enhanced FCG , its a little creepy , but has a decent drop . Was at first turned off by the 1-7 twist rate , thinking they all shoot like this Colt , because I had just assembled the Piston build with a 1-7 rate Barrel , but after this test , I'm not worried about using them . The twist rate is new to me , I much prefer 1-9 , all the rifles I have built , except for a few of the early ones using 1-14, 1-12 & one I still, have in 1-10 all shot very good & the 1-9 was better IMO . I have now have got two more twist rates that work also , this test was somewhat of an eye opener for me . Now at 100 yards , my opinion may change , but I think all these will perform well at the distance . One thing that is different with the Colt & the other two rifles , is , its a Carbine Gas system , where as the other two are , Mid Gas systems , but I have a hard time wrapping my head around that that would make the impact of the group , to shoot to the right . I was told that , three clicks of the rear sight one way or the other , ( left or right , windage ) is accepted range for military standards . If that is true , the way I was told , this rifle would not pass , because it will take more than three clicks for the group to center this Colts Group on the Target .
  11. I just got this , Brownells Stands With You – DDTC Statement Brownells - Serious About Firearms Since 1939. brownells.com HOT SELLERS IN STOCK MAGS SALE & CLEARANCE LEARN SCHEMATICS Dear Brownells Customer, There is PROMISING NEWS to report in the continued fight to fend off regulatory overreaches affecting gunsmiths and industry professionals by the Obama administration. As you’ll undoubtedly remember, the Department of Defense Trade Controls office earlier this year issued confusing guidance adversely affecting tens of thousands of gunsmiths by requiring them pay a $2,250 registration fee with the DDTC. The PROMISING NEWS is our legislators have heard from all of us. Just recently, Congressman Steve Scalise (R-LA) filed H.R. 6176, The Export Control Reform Act along with 68 bipartisan cosponsors. The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) summarizes the bill as follows: "The Export Control Reform Act of 2016, if enacted, will transfer export licensing for commercial products from State to Commerce, where it is more appropriately equipped to control the exportation of these consumer products and remove the costly and unduly burdensome registration fee. This would streamline the licensing process, provide greater flexibility for multi-year licensing, and save gunsmiths and all manufacturers of handguns and rifles $2,250 every year. Additionally, it would allow the State Department to place greater focus on those sensitive articles that would remain on the U.S. Munitions List that are inherently military in nature or provide a critical military or intelligence advantage to the U.S." This bill is not yet law! It desperately needs the support of you, your friends, family and coworkers. Frank and I promise to keep the pressure on our legislators and we need you to do the same. We ask you to contact your Member of Congress immediately and respectfully urge your member to support H.R. 6176, the Export Control Reform Act of 2016. You can call 202-225-3121 and email them here. As always, thank you for placing your trust in Brownells.
  12. I had a WWII Remington Rand 1911 that we did everything we could think of to make it not function , throwing it in the mud , stepping on it in the Mud , then rolling it in the dirt , snow drifts & it would fire every time . That old war horse was loose as a goose , but would hit the Target every time . No it would not print MOA . I can say that ,the only thing I see, is that in Combat , I would like to have a few more then eight rounds to play with . that is what the Glock has going for it .
  13. Went to the range today with three Carbines , the Colt , my new Piston build & a POF build . -Colt Carbine , 1-7 Twist rate with a DI ,Carbine Gas system . MBUS rear sight & A2 pined from sight second Gen.. -Tactical Machining Receiver set, 1-7 twist rate , 16 " .Brownells barrel, Piston Mid Gas system , MBUS sight set , first Gen. - POF Billet Receiver set, 1-8 twist rate , Wilson Combat light wt. Barrel , DI ,Mid Gas System , one of the first MechArmor Defense BUIS I shot four different types of ammo , three rounds of each at 25 yards from a sand bag rests . Rear sight was centered in Sight housing on all three rifles .one thing I noticed right off the bat , is the Colt grouped about an inch or so more towards the left or center of the target , so aligning the from sight , did help a little , but it was still grouping to the right , with the rear sight centered in the rear sight housing . My other 1-7 Piston build , shot a little to the right of the target center , but not much . The POF 1-8, shot about dead center of the target , as shown in photo's . Ammo used is as follows . SS 109 Green Tip M193 LC BALL 62 gr. FMJ HP , Hand load 55 gr. Solid Copper , HP , Hand Load Colt Piston Build POF Build So , thinking that the 62 gr. or the SS 109 would shoot differently than a 55 gr. load , it doesn't make a difference at this range , will try 100 yards next & I will have to move the Colts Rear Sight to make sure I don't miss the target .
  14. Most likely just the Upper Receiver needs to be changed . Like 98 said , all their products seem to be proprietary & not play well with others. We have always said , if you are building an 308AR , the fist step in not having a fitment issue is, to use the same Manufacturers Upper & Lower Receiver set .
  15. There has been & always will be people in the lowest income , poorest people , scraping for anything they can get for $ . This isn't something new & we have been in wars for my entire life , why would this election or the fact that the article mentioned Trump along with this statement , make this statement relevant ? We all here , I'm sure , want to make our country self sufficient & not allow another country to have the sole market on any product that can effect us , but this is what the Gov. & our big Manufacturers have done . All because of Greed ! Greed has put this country in a bad spot & their is plenty of blame to go around , including the uninformed people (voters ) of this Country . My point was about that statement , was that it put an assumption that if Trump was elected we would have our children going through Dumps looking for anything to make a dime ! ( like Hitlery will make it all better for those Children )
  16. Never read so much $hit about $hit in my life .
  17. (Did these children have big sad eyes,) what does this statement have anything thing to do with anything . Am I missing something. Its happening now . I always try to buy made in USA .
  18. There are ways to avoid " The Rule " , but its a secret You are going to upset Robocop , talking about one of his favorite manufacturers .
  19. Look more show then go , to me . I like the looks , but I prefer my hand guards a little more solid .
  20. I think you guys are over thinking this Torque thing, Torque wrench should be in line with the adaptor , in this case , a Armorers wrench , be it a std AR 15 type or a crows foot or spanner type . Yes there may be a slight Torque difference in the length of the adaptor used , but it really doesn't matter , because if you set it to torque @ 40/50# , you still have to line up for the Gas Tube , if its that type of Barrel Nut . If no need to align the Gas tube notch or hole , Just go to 50# & be done with it , I haven't used a torque wrench for Barrel nuts for a long long time . Does the Crows foot Barrel Nut Wrench have a provision for a Torque Wrench drive on it ?
  21. One would hope so , but I would have to talk with some that made that determination .
  22. Not sure what to make of it . Interesting .
  23. The American Eagle 7.62x51 ball is working in the Barrel , so that leaves two things , Magazine ( which is 90% of feeding issues on most weapons ) & the feed ramp , which may not like the Bullet configuration of the commercial ammo . Yes you will pay big $$ for a Lancer L7 , but its a good choice , there has been several issues with the latest PMag , I had to send two brand new Gen. 3 ones back , because they had issues with fitment & were causing feeding issues . They were some of the first off the new assembly plant & the replacements sent to me work fine .
