  1. Statement is to designate proprietary components for proper application . The Armalite company today had nothing to do with the AR 10 , they bought the rights & copyright for the name . They had nothing whats so ever to do with the design of the platform nor its initial production issues that comes with new production . They are ridding on someone else's refinement of this platform . Where as DPMS has had all the refinement issues of a production rifle line & has fixed any issues that have come . You mention an M4 compatibility chart , what is that in relation to the AR 10 & DPMS LR 308 platforms ? Having worked on & built ( including select fire ) AR rifles since the late seventies , I can tell you they all will have issues at one time or another , if they are used , safe queens only collect dust . Use any of them as they were designed to be used & something will come up , I don't care who the Manufacturer is .
  2. Piston assemble should only need to be cleaned & wiped down , it should be Chrome lined & coated Piston assembly or some other treatment , The BCG , yes , a lot of lubricant on it for break in .
  3. I've never seen anyone go on a rant about the designation of AR 10 with a DPMS , you call any 308AR a DPMS & no one will say a word , but call a DPMS an AR 10 & they will come out of the wood work on other Forums & tell its not & could never be as good as an AR 10 . Not so much on this Forum , because we know better . I'm not for one or the other , doesn't matter to me if you call them all AR 10 , but we have to to segregate some proprietary parts between the two .
  4. Under Warranty , sent the rifle back , if you contact them , it may be something simple or over looked , ya never know .
  5. I wonder what these Mooslimbs were screaming when the were attacked .ð https://www.yahoo.com/gma/video/least-dozen-people-injured-arizona-134910537.html

    Deer Season

I shot a decent seven point in WV with a side scoped M1 Garand , with hand loads , kinda on the heavy side , but you know you can slip & fall down & know you didn't hurt anything.
  7. If its not locking back after last round is ejected , its under gassed or you have something slowing it down or binding some where . The BCG is not cycling far enough back into Receiver Extension ( Buffer Tube ) to let the Bolt Face grab the Base of the Cartridge next in the Mag. .
  8. This one reads the Armalite AR 10 Bolt is in stock , I would call to make sure . http://www.762sass.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=70_71&product_id=51
  9. Piston system , nice Feed Ramps & those Locking Lug approaches are different. You say you shot 20 rds. & witnessed shavings , then disassemble rifle to clean & inspect , I would look at your reassembly , might have something to do with the Gas regular & how its was reassembled , might be some kind of alignment issue . You also say the only way to feed a fresh unfired cartridge into the chamber , you have to pull the charging handle back to do so . Try one round in the Mag & see if the BCG will lock back on a empty Mag . , if it does , is probably not a low Gas Impulse issue .
  10. The FOP Range I shoot at , the 22lr cases are everywhere & the steel case & aluminum are everywhere also. We had a range officer that used to pick up the brass ( that wasn't picked up by users ) every Sunday , he is a Teacher that used the $$ to buy .22 ammo for his shooting club. Haven't seen him in a while though .
  11. My math must be wrong , because I get , $12,215.20 per rifle , has to be the extra's . http://kitup.military.com/2016/04/army-selects-new-compact-sniper-rifle.html
  12. I disassembled & cleaned the BCG last night & nothing out of the ordinary , except there is some great machining work on these components , No Burr's on any parts , Springs OK , just some brass marks on the Bolt face , which there would be normally . Why this BCG or just his Bolt doesn't like this Rifle is just odd , I'm going to try this BCG in my 16" & see how it reacts to a rapid & prolonged heating . The Bolt I have from D.Wilson worked in the 16" & now I want to see if this complete BCG works .
  13. They say it was a training exercise & this guy pulls a gun & shoots him point blank . Training or were they looking for someone & found him or someone else ? We may never know .
  14. You can read all thats on the net & what I have read , because I have never owned an AR 10 & talking to people that have swapped them out , that as long as it head spaces correctly you can use one or the other, in both rifles , they work just fine , but IMO , I would keep the Bolt Armalite in an Armalite Barrel Extension , as with a DPMS Extension , just to be on the safe side . There is so much bias with AR 10 owners on any subject associated with the AR 10 in any comparison with a DPMS, its hard to get any dimensional figures on what is different between the two , if any at all . Its the Chevy vs Ford thing .
  15. The Carriers should not matter , if anything you can use it till you get a real ? BC . How hard is it to find one of their Bolts ?
  16. WTF they are more worried about the defendant then the man he killed ? This is the Prosecutors Office ? They say ,by not showing all the evidence , they have a better chance to win the case , are you fuking kidding me ? I know its hard to put your self in a LEO mind when things go bad , but this is the Prosecutors trying not to bring Media attention, so the Jury will go easy one the the shooter . It may be a good idea to not taint a possible jurist , but that hasn't stopped any other cases that are in the news , with videos . She's getting a snow job & her husbands life meant nothing ,the former LEO is going to get off easy . Its a hard thing to think a LEO is going to go to Prison , but this is more Gov. BS,where no one is held accountable & this prosecutors office is part of this program that is rapid in this Country . I think this shoot first & ask questions later is getting out of hand . snow job [ˈsnō ˌjäb] NOUN N. AMER. informal a deception or concealment of one's real motive in an attempt to flatter or persuade: "we need to do a snow job on him"
  17. This Place has a non serrated BCG. Not the real Armalite thats the best in the world & will make you coffee in the morning , replace your wife & bring joy to the world , but there are a lot of said DPMS BCG's out there with no serrations . https://www.veriforcetactical.com/product/dpms-style-lr-308-nitrided-bolt-carrier-group/
  18. Planeflyer 21 could be right , my mag tube is much closer to the Barrel , but them people who make the guns for HW , will throw anything on them to look cool or menacing . I like the scope mount also , real heavy duty
  19. I don 't know , the Gas block looks to be half missing & that a long ramp on the front sight . I will have to take a Photo of my Marlin semi auto 22 , that barrel configuration , including the mag tube bands are too much alike . I've never seen that narrow of Barrel on a Mini 14 , but that doesn't mean someone wanted to lighten up a Mini 14 , but it is Hollywood.

No one is blaming you for any of this , you have to understand that the building ( or assembling ) of a 308AR is not like its little brother where they are assembled with parts that are designed to a MilSpec & all are exactly the same to those spec's . The 308AR components are what ever the manufacturer decides they are . The thing about the 80% Lowers are that the machining one does on them can directly effect other functions of the rifle , if not correctly machined , be it the Jig imperfections or how it is placed or attached . A reweld firearm is one that was cut in half per the Gov. de-mill program & welded back together & re-registered with the BATF to make it a working firearm . I had one, an FN-FAL HB select fire rifle & it worked great . You say your Gas Tube doesn't sit in the Middle of the of that notch in the Upper Receiver , a little off is no big deal, but if its at one end or the other , it could cause issues. I have seen Barrels that were manufactured with the Gas Block stop Flange on the Barrel was not machined correctly & no Gas Tube made would work correctly with it , because it aligned the Gas Tube in the Upper Receiver too far forward to give the proper gas signal to the BCG . Some we have found the AR 10 Gas Tube which is a little longer then the std AR Gas Tube ( DPMS uses std AR 15 Gas Tubes ) is needed or thats the spec's the manufacturer designed or machined the Gas Block Flange to use an AR 10 Gas System or just screwed the pooch . When you cycle the Charging handle , is there much resistance or does it cycle smoothly , with just the slight feel of the Hammer being cocked ? You say your not building the rifle & just a parts assembler , well just reading this Thread sounds like your into more then just assembling Parts .
  21. Mini 14 stock , charging handle ,trigger guard safety . Looks like the put a Marlin 22 semi auto action & Barrel with mag tube in the Mini 14. Ahhhh Hollywood .
  22. Well I opened this news article about a Movie being made that uses one of Trump's speeches while they were Killing illegals crossing the boarder & I see this photo of , I guess one of the exterminators & he has this Rifle .
  23. Went to the range today with the or a proper 308AR Buffer Spring ( Tubb's ) & my new D.Wilson , Nitrated BCG . I started with the Lancer 20 rounder & things went real well , everything from 175 , 168, 155 gr match loads & some 155 gr. Hornady Amax , worked flawlessly probably went through thirty rounds & said why not test the new 20 rd. Gen. 3 , PMag , loaded twenty rounds with Amax & fired every one till the last round & then had the failure to eject the case from the rifle , as has been the case , so I said this early CMMG Lower has never liked the PMag , that came out first & maybe she doesn't really like the Gen. 3 also , so I went back to the Lancer , same issue , every round jammed , failing to eject the fired case from the rifle & trying to feed the next round from the Mag . I checked & it was well lubed , so I took out the old used factory DPMS BCG out & splashed some oil on it ( from my Otis cleaning kit, no less ) dropped it in the rifle & proceeded to shoot both the Lancer & Pmag with out a hitch for about fifty rounds . I can see now that Tolerance Stacking when chamber warms up is the issue . I think this barre/chamber needs some time to break in before I can use the D.Wilson BCG, its a well made product . It is getting better though , I never got that many rounds fired with out it jamming . I'm not going any further with it till I get some more rounds through the rifle , has about six hundred rounds just from testing , have not had a chance to see how well she shoots yet , but did do most of my shooting today firing as soon as the target spot came back in the cross hairs , I wanted to heat her up, nice fist size groups & they are nice groups from shooting so fast , they all kind of lobed in there.
  24. The Tubbs spring worked well , my 155 gr. Hornady Amax loads were ejecting at one o'clock , but the rest just lobed into a neat pile about two foot away at three o'clock .Too bad the D.Wilson BCG started to have the same issues when warm . I gave a full account in the 308 Parts section , under D.Wilson Bolts
  25. I agree ,why would you install a DPMS BC in an AR 10 . Stinking Gov. Motors
