I checked both my Rifle stocked 308AR's today , Your Spring looks correct , but my new build 18" , something isn't right . - my new build 18"has 43 coils & its 12 1/4" long ( I'm having an issue with this rifle & wondering if this may have something to do with it ) - my 20" much older build has 39 coils & its 12 1/2" long ( Which is close to what most I have seen , 12 1/2 on a very well used rifle is not bad ) Both have DPMS 308 Rifle Buffers in them , so with the 18" having that many coils , it may cause issues . Spring was purchased from Brownells along with the Buffer, This looks like they sent me a AR 15 Rifle Spring ! We have so many Threads on the issues with Carbine Buffer Systems , I never paid any attention to the 308AR Rifle length Systems. Damn !

Look at the spring length & coil count . I'll pull one of my Rifle stock springs & make a count& measurement from one of my DPMS Type rifles , they both have DPMS Springs & Buffers in them .
  3. Terrorism too. Too much coverage , people are terrorized both ways .
  4. & they freeking vote !
  5. Yes, sorry to hear that also . Here's To a fellow biker ? RIP
  6. Quote from me " why did it work for the first twenty rounds ?" Heat maybe . That would mean a very snug fit between the two manufacturers .
  7. Some comparison photo's of the ( factory ) DPMS BCG & the D.Wilson BCG. You can't see it too well in this photo because how dark the Nitrated Carrier is , but the cut on the side where the Dust cover protrudes into the Upper Receiver is much longer . closer look hammber opening more like an Enhanced AR 15 Carrier than an M16 & open up a bit . D.Wilson Bolt Face on the left & Shadow OPS (NIB ) D.Wilson Bolt face & factory DPMS ( well used , I might add ) Damn Black Nitrate makes photo shots difficult , LOL Looks like D.Wilson cut some weight off the Bolt Carrier , compared to the factory DPMS , D.Wilson machine work makes the DPMS look like I made it with a Dremel Tool. ? I have not found a way to acutely weigh the two , but will . None of my scales will work , maybe my Pact , but I think it too may be maxed out by the Carrier weight , I well see today. I cleaned the Barrel & BCG up & used CPL instead of the wonder lubricant that is supposed to run for 4K with out re-lubricating , we will see next time at the range & I will be better prepared .

The Buffer looks correct length, but not of the Spring , all the Rifle length Receiver Extensions to my knowledge are the same length. Carbines have a couple different lengths , so that should be correct . http://www.heavybuffers.com/reference.html look at Slash's data
  9. Plane , your not right in the Head ! ?
  10. Where you at in NE Florida ?

What stock are you using ? Carbine , Rifle ?
  12. It sure is a picky Barrel , I'm thinking the same as you are . I thought because I was using a used Bolt Carrier with the first Bolt that the BC could have been a little loose because of wear , so when you had this Blem sale , I saw a perfect way to test my theory ,if that was the case. I have more testing to do with other Magazines also , the test Mag. is one I use for a lot of testing & may be close to end of its service life . Makes me wonder if this Barrel doesn't like the Nitrated Bolts , if thats even possible , because the rifle runs fine with a NIB coated Shadow OPs ( no longer in the biz ) Bolt in the DPMS Bolt Carrier . Just strange . What gets me is, why did it work for the first twenty rounds ? That makes me believe it may be lubricant ,but BCG had Plenty of lubricant , I pulled it out & inspected the BC at the range when I was done with my short session . I'm going to try different Lubricants , might be all it is .I'm also going to do a complete break down & cleaning . I will keep posting with testing now that I have slowed down working on the Panheads , one is out the door & the other is waiting for a gasket , so more time to shoot now & this rifle is going to be getting 100% of my attention . Don't get this thread wrong , its not a bashing of your product , because the more I look at your machining work , they are so well done & the fact that I can put your Bolt in two other 308AR's kinda steers me to the Barrel's Extension also .
  13. After inspecting & cleaning & checking HS in the 18" with my New D.Wilson Nitrated BCG ( the ones he has as Blems , Hard to find a blemish ) I went to the range & the first 20 rd. mag . ( Org. CProducts ) The 18" worked flawlessly , second loading of same mag. & same batch of 155r. Nosler Match ( reloads ) I had failure to Eject on every round , clear the jam & next round did the same . Fired case is laying on top of new round being fed into the chamber. This the same issue I had with just the D.Wilson complete Bolt ( also Nitrated ) with a DPMS ( factory ) Bolt Carrier.( Note : this Bolt works fine in my other 308AR's ! ) Why these Bolts or complete BCG will not work with this particular 18" Criterion Barrel ( but works with two other Criterion BBL's ), is the reason we always say there is no Spec' Standards with the 308ARs & if you read this Thread , you will see there are very slight differences between D.Wilson & DPMS type BCG components . I'm going to put this BCG ( D.Wilson ) In my 16" & take the Shadow Ops NIB BCG & use it in the 18 " , The Shadow OPs BCG has very few rounds shot with it in the 16" , so not a big deal . I don't like to swap out Bolts but in this case , with the very little use of the Bolts , not a big deal .
  14. Got mine yesterday , hard to find imperfections on it .
  15. Well if the wife doesn't know she's his girlfriend , just her friend , that would work .?
  16. Mine are all blank , I thought about getting one for my BRO that reads their " Let it Rain " , but since it didn't come with one on the Upper like it should have , I'm not paying $ 26 & shipping to get one . I'll put a Strike Industries one on & be real happy , I like the ones I have , with no saying , of course .
  17. Highly doubtful , blems would be in appearance only.
  18. They do make good Bullets , big $$ , but good long range Bullets . Try to get some Chono results , I would like to see how consistent they are . Velocity will differ from box because of your 16" BBL.
  19. Any time you use reloaded ammo , yours or remanufactured ammo & have feeding or extraction/Ejection issues , the first thing you should do is use/shoot factory ammo , preferably American made , to compare it to. Any photo's of the drag marks ? Just curious .
  20. Who's this Randy ?
  21. Nothing to be sorry about , you are dealing with non std components & even the high $ ones , may need fitment . I'm pretty sure , from what I see of the photo of the Elftmann safety , the barrel is that safety & the cut or turned down area is where the the action is " OFF " Safe , to allow Trigger movement to fire the Rifle. The rear area of the Trigger is the Tail as you have described & the Trigger on a AR doesn't have a lot of movement to work . Lower Receiver manufacturers don't follow the same spec's on manufacturing , so some Receivers may require fitment of non std components , some make them so they are proprietary, to use theirs & theirs only components , even though they say they take std 308AR components ( DPMS )
  22. It can be turned down on a Lathe if it can be put on it . I had a custom brake made for me by PRI , for my 20" & they made it to my Barrels spec's ,based on my measurements , tapered it right to the Barrel . Their normally smaller diameter then my 0.936"Barrel . If it has a larger diameter , just turn it down & have it refinished , as long as turning it down has no effect on any Porting or strength . Tool shouldn't have a problem with doing one or or three or ? ?

    I like your enthusiasm .?
  24. STD AR 15 safety/selector sits over the Trigger Tail & when engaged , it blocks Trigger movement . When disengaged , there is a cut in the barrel of the Safety to allow Trigger movement . Not sure what you mean by clearing the trigger tail .
  25. Photo's ? Not that I would know the difference , but others might .
