Definitely a possibility with the round count with this Mag , because It has always worked & its like a go to mag for testing because ( I thought ) It would always work <dontknow> I have about twenty more , new in the wrapper to replace it with . <thumbsup> Not to mention the DPMS Mags I have . The first gen. LR PMags with this CMMG Receiver have had problems from the beginning & I've tried about a doz. of them with it . Metal mags have always worked with out a problem , at least till now , with this one well used Cproducts Mag . Can't wait to try the Lancer Mags .

Ya , but it sounds so much better as a Submarine to them <thumbsup>

Read about my new build in the Build section , I keep finding things working against it , in one form or another , I keep blaming the great CMMG <laughs> Gen. 2 Lower, but could be other things . I went out of my way to tighten up & align the Upper to the Lower. Thought the Gen. 3 PMags were going to work until I took her out to the range yesterday . I used a 25 rd. Gen 3 for testing with dummy rounds ion my shop , then I forgot to take them , but had a 20 rd. Gen. 3 in my range bag , so I thought it was the same , wrong , the two 20 rd. gen. 3 Pmags I have ,don't fit or fit real tight in all my 308AR's ( two DPMS ) & thats got nothing to do with the CMMG Lower . They are so tight I have to force them into the mag well & forget about dropping free , you Have to give them the full hand to get them out . Both 25 rd. Gen. 3's insert & drop free no problem , just as a bunch of the first version of the LR Pmags I have . The gen. 3 LRPMags sit higher in the mag well then the first Gen. LRPMags & thought that would take care of the Bolt over , PMags also have the raised portion of the Follower on the right side , the DPMS , CProducts & my lone MagTec has it on the left , if that means anything . Like I said things are working against them working in the CMMG , I have to take the 25 rd. mags with me Monday to the range , the DPMS mags work fine , I also had a problem with my well used CProducts test mag , same as with the PMags , the bolt is passing over the round on the right side & the Carrier is catching it & smashing on the feed ramp , it only happens once in a while & it was only the Pmags , but with the CProducts # 1 test mag . I had with me , it too failed the same way , just strange , its the first time a metal mag failed with the CMMG set , so I think the mag is getting too worn , it has seen a few thousand rounds , it was my # 1 test mag for all 308AR's , just some strange $hit . Rifle worked fine with the DPMS mag . & I was trying make it fail with long shot strings .

I just checked the Gen 3 20 rd. Pmags & found something interesting , the 20 rd. Mags are difficult to insert into all three of my 308AR's , two DPMS Lowers & this CMMG Gen 2 . They will not drop free & have to be pulled out . I tested feeding with a 25 rd. Gen. 3 Pmag the other day when the DWilson Bolt came & since I already had a 20 rd. Gen 3 in my Bag , I used it at the range yesterday , now I'm wondering if that makes a difference , so , I have a new in the wrapper Gen. 3 , 20 rounder & unwrapped it & it too is hard to get in the mag wells of all three rifles & in no way will drop free . My two 25 rd. PMags fit fine & drop free, WTF? Some strange stuff going on here, I think Pmags have something against my high $ CMMG Lower Receiver . <laughs> I also checked a bunch of the first Gen. 20 rd. Pmags & have no problem with them & they drop free . I have brought this up before , Magpul is the only one of four manufactures Mags. that have the high side of the Follower on the right , all others are on the left . I ordered four Lancer Mags & we will see how they work & are made . I'm going to email Magpul & see what they have to say .

I want that Submarine truck <lmao>

Should have not been charged at all , but I believe he know what he was doing & also knew the consequences , he will man up to what ever they throw at him , because he knows he did the right thing , as we all would have . Might get off easy also , you never know , but this is " The Queens " world & being on the Enemies side , he will probably throw the book at him . I didn't see the phone numbers for the head a$$ hats , are they out there ? I don't do FB.

Something you won't see on the Chicago guide

But its a gun free zone ! <laughs> -
I just ordered the four pak & will see if they work in my CMMG 308AR lower that PMags seem to not function well in .

St Augustine I just down loaded the Photo & turned it in right side up on my MacBook Pro , IPhoto .

Stop making fun of my new build's Lower Receiver , that still won't work with PMags <dontknow> <laughs>
-
Ya , but I don't think he ever got to see the Barrel to know if it was bad or not <laughs>
-
Too bad ,who ever talked them into it should pay up ! Probably the Brady Bunch <dontknow>

I have several Burris scopes & they are very good glass . I have a full field Tac 30, 3x9x50 on my 24" AR 15 , great scope & a 6.5x20x50 on my 16" 308AR .

With the Bench upside down , it makes emptying the Powder measure a lot simpler <laughs> Is this better

Sometimes its not the Barrel , even tho someone thinks its the Barrel . Kinda hard to pin down with out a scientific approach in laboratory environment . Someone may say my Barrel shoots like $hit & there are many factors involved for one to say its is or isn't the barrel . If you buy from a Quality Manufacturer like most of us do here , not many bad ones to even talk about , But that's just me & my experience . I'm sure they are out there , but what do you consider Bad ? One that shoots around corners , someone had one close to that here once , bbl. was bent of something & I think it was Bought off Ebay , go figure .

Put about 150 rounds through the new build with the DWilson Bolt & here are some observations . Bolt shows very little marks or wear or marks on it . It was difficult to compare the Extractors , because of how they are made , the DPMS has a slight curve to it & its sits deeper in the Bolt face . The width difference is only 0.001 " with the Dwilson ( left )Extractor being 0.311" & the DPMS 0.310" not much at all . The one thing I noticed is the actual thickness of the Extracto r , with the DPMS being Beefier , 0.119" & the Dwilson 0.1145" . I did think the Gas rings fit a little tight , but after checking diameter measurements , the gas rings are the same , Dwilson 0.662" & the DPMS New Ring 0.664". The Bolt ran great , I did have two fail to Eject at first , but this is a new build & the bolt worked fine after that with no failure to eject or extract . I did have Mag feed problems , but that has nothing to do with the Bolt , this CMMG Lower is an early one & has always Had problems with PMags , go figure , the DPMS mag worked fine .

Range session today was OK , the Magpul Gen 3 PMag , still gave me fits , it worked for function of FCG testing , but went down hill after that . The right round in the Mag. is being grabbed by the BC instead of the Bolt & it wedges the round in the feed ramp , just like before , so I can say that because of Tolerance stacking , the Bolt is some times passing over the Base of the Cartridge case , as it has done since I first tried these PMags . What also surprised me is my test CProducts mag . failed to feed in the same way also , this mag has been used a lot , so it doesn't surprise me . I did have a couple fail to Eject at first , but only had one or two with the first two or three Mags .. I have three or four bent M80 rounds I have to pull the Bullets to re-size the case to straighten them out to shoot them. So out came my DPMS test mag, not used as much as the Cproducts , but still has had a lot of use & the rifle functioned with out a problem , note that I had already dumped off about 80 rounds already ,mostly M80 Ball & I did switch to 155gr. Hand Loads & then some 168 gr. SMK's , but had no more Malfunctions. I was popping off two ,three & five shot & sometimes more shot strings . Another thing is I gave this rifle no time to cool off , except once I changed to the CProducts mag., I put a couple of dry patches down the Barrel & lubed the BCG up , but it was load the mag & shoot . This rifle has not passed my three mag dump test yet , but at the end of my ammo that I brought along with me ,I think it will . I did have about forty rounds of Barnes 168 gr. Tactical with me ,but didn't want to just dump them . I do think some of this has to do with how tight the gas ring fit is , so when I got back I took some measurements ; DWilson Bolt Ring Diameter - 0.662" brand new DPMS Ring Diameter - 0.664" Test DPMS Bolt ring diameter - 0.648" ( slightly worn <laughs>,no wonder they fit easy ) I will put some more ammo through this rifle & break out some new in the wrapper DPMS mags.& a new test CProducts mag.I did notice , as I did before is , the raised part of the DPMS Mag is opposite of the PMag. , PMag is on the right of the Follower & the DPMS is on the Left , wonder if that is why it feeds better <dontknow> I have to look at The CProducts mag. I posted some photo's & measurement differences in the DWilsons Bolt Thread .

I do a lot of handload testing & I know the Lead Sled type , strapped down rifle rest will show grouping better to some , but I don't want to take the Human element out of the equation in shooting , so I use sand filled bags for a stable platform in testing . I also believe that a rifle shoots different when it is strapped down & unmovable , JMHO <dontknow>

I'm with Rob , after checking out these Nitrated Parts , I getting a respect for the treatment on them . I will see today on how they clean up & wear . I remember I insulted the barrel maker here ,, many years ago on the Melonite barrels , wasn't meant to insult him , I just pointed out fact , that the process was too new & untried to say its the best thing since sliced bread & will make Chrome lining obsolete ( which it is , its an old process ), but that's the way he took it & I still have to test this Nitrated stuff to make a decision .

There was no carb cleaner & q-tips going to get that crap off the muzzle , took some scraping ( not on the Crown ) to even get it to chip away . Bronze brush & every kind of solvent I had to clean . Now I've never tried the " Fire Clean " I heard it works pretty good . The after photo , brand new .

Ya when Matt shows up , you know somethings up <laughs> The proper terminology is everything in describing anything , you wouldn't call a Chevy a Ford or describe a part for one meaning the other , why would you think to do it with two different rifles ,they have very technical & precise components & can be very dangerous if components are not correct , its common sense , which seems to be lost anymore in this world . Its not this hole in the internet thats the issue ! We want all to be safe in the Hobby of building & shooting of these type rifles , why take offense to that !
-
That's why I posted it . Its also a bit wider , which may be better also . I will find out tomorrow at the range , I had more Heart tests today so I didn't have a chance to test it . I should take some measurements tomorrow when I disassemble to inspect & clean the rifle .

Show off <thumbsup>

I was taught the same way & still catch myself wanting to do it . <dontknow> & know better .
