Looks like it would be putting a Frisbee in your belt <laughs> , hope , since its leather , it would soften up . I like how it puts leather between you & the pistol , I have some IWB holsters that in certain contorted positions , I get a rear sight digging into me .

Now I remember , thats the moving or sliding riser , shouldn't be a problem on an AR 15 . Mark has a low threshold for some input . I remember when he stopped selling BCG's because some fools were asking questions about if the were MP tested & such. He just said the hell with it , I'm not selling them separately any more , buy my rifle 's if you want one . I think it was funny , he blew a gasket & said ,piss off ,to all of them . He is a good guy , just won't take any $hit & I don't blame him , some people on these Forums are idiots .
-
How about a photo of the Riser . I can't see the Tac Ops handle as being in the way , I have a bunch of them on 308AR's & AR 15's , but I don't know what riser you are referring too.

That gap may just help cool the Barrel quicker & if you remember the JP Hand Guards have a gap also & they look good , I have two , one with the gap & one I assembled with out a gap because it was so close to matching up to the SI Defense Gen II upper. This is the MI SS on my 16" Tactical Machining Upper , I installed this one to match the Post 2009 ( low ) DPMS rail height , that TM uses.

Once you put those two together ( Pistol & Stock ) you all need a Tax Stamp for SBR ! Doesn't matter how stock is attached , your hand , a bolt , Glue , once held together , its a SBR . Have fun , we can still have contact with you in the Big house . <lmao>

This is the 308AR parts section , ask this in the "General Section " or the " Black Rifles Section , ( which is for the AR 15 type rifles . You will get more answers to your inquiries . <thumbsup>

feeding issues and bolt issue
survivalshop replied to choagland666's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
Rifle functions with factory ammo & not your reloads , more than likely its a problem with you reloading process . To adj. your Sizing Die , with shell holder in Press ram ( if single type press ) run the ram all the way to the top of its stroke , screw Sizer die into Press until base of Die touches Shell holder ( doesn't matter what type Press is used ) then screw die in about a 1/16 of a turn more into Press , you want a small amount of cam over when press is at full stroke . This will set your shoulder set back or a good start to it , there are a couple ways of doing this , but this has worked for me on every Press or brand of Die I have used .You can see if the empty sized case seats into your chamber & the Bolt locks into Battery , once you have the shoulder set back set , just make sure the OAL of the loaded round is no more than 2.800" . As far as crimping , to bulge the shoulder on a 308 cartridge , you would have to use Godzilla pressure to do it , something that is never used in reloading , well unless your sizing with out case lube . Now a 5.56/.223 , its easy to bulge the shoulder with over Crimping . If you have the SB RCBS Die set , it should have a Taper crimp in the Bullet Seating die , crimp as a separate procedure , run the seating die with a sized case ( no Bullet ) at top of ram stroke , screw die down until you feel the the die start to touch the case rim as if was going to crimp it & back it back Off a little & lock it down . set your seating depth with a charged case with Bullet & seat all your reloads , then back the seating stem back out so it can no longer come close to touching the Bullet & screw down the Sizing die with a fully loaded round at the top of the Ram stroke ,till the crimping portion of the die slightly crimps the case , all you need is a light feel to a taper crimp , just enough to uniform the case around the Bullet , its all about a light crimp , case neck tension , if correct , retains the Bullet in the case. -

We will be waiting with breathless anticipation <laughs>

The misalignment could also cause problems with interference in the Carrier Key . Slight miss alignment of the gas Block will twist the Gas Tube at the Upper Receiver end .

Small problem with free float handguard with rail gas block.
survivalshop replied to CASEYPM's topic in Building a .308AR
You need the Barrel to make a final fitting to be sure . Worse case , assemble & torque hand guard Barrel nut & if you need to make clearance for the Gas block rail on your Hand Guard , your in a machine shop , make clearance . The gas block should seat at the barrels gas block flange . I think it should be fine , but as has been said , there are no MilSpec specifications for 308AR's & spec's could go here or there from Manufacturer to Manufacturer When completely assembled, your gas tube should protrude into the Upper receiver to the middle of the Cam pin lock in the Upper receiver. -

No FB here , my whole family does & says I'am Hermit or non social type, like I care what they think <laughs>

Are you sure you don't have a Carbine Gas tube , you will need a Mid Gas tube to work with a Mid gas system . The Mid length Hand Guard length is 9.5 ". What Gas system is the Barrel you are getting ? -
Just so you know this is the Armalite AR 10 section , if you are building or upgrading anything other than Armalite rifle , it belongs in the DPMS or LR308 type rifle section . It will help you get better answers . Having said that , they are all AR type actions , just larger to accommodate the big 308 /7.62x51 cartridge . Look around here & the other sections & most questions will be answered & if you need clarification , those here will be happy to answer them as much as we can . My advice ,Do Not stone or alter any STD AR FCG ( Trigger system ) they feel good at first , but go down hill rapidly . Not the right material & Hardening . Plenty of very good triggers out there for these rifles , look in the Trigger section. 24" BBL. = Heavy & its OK for a Bench gun . Accuracy like you want is something that takes a lot to come together & a lot of it is your ability & the amount you practice . Reloading for these rifles brings very good results if proper reloading techniques are followed .

My old & I mean old ,Redding Micro drop powder measure , I loaded a charge to 42.9 grs. of TAC & it dropped them all exactly to that weight & I checked every five rounds I dropped . Thats with a Ball type Powder , I could never do that with IMR 4064 , but it would be close ,I use a powder trickler for correction , but some of the Flake Pistol Powders , it will . Any good drop type powder measure will work for both , pistol or rifle . My Dillon 550B has a different Bar for lower weight & higher weight charges . My Redding is to the right by the TAC Powder

Ok what do you think is wrong with them ? Are the Primers seated slightly below the Base of the Cartridge ? When Swaging some material may not go back to look like its a uniform Primer Pocket , once shot , it should reform . Primers hard to seat ? If real hard & deforming the primer , your not Swaging properly . Normally they will be a felt resistance seating a swaged primer pocket , but it should not be too hard , a Commercial Case will be easy compared to a swaged, MilSpec crimped primer pocket . I have used a RCBS Reamer /Deburring tool to trim or uniform a crimped Primer Pocket , only in the extreme have I needed to do this .It doesn't take but a little twist of the inside case reaming part of the tool .

Nice ! You did a better job of cutting out the foam in your case then I did .

We have been seeing a lot of NIB bolt /Carrier problems with too thick of NIB coatings . Sometimes the coatings are bunched up in places . Some Manufactures seem to work with the NIB coatings , some don't , I will not use a NIB coated Bolt any more , I like the Nitrated ones , DWilson makes a very good product in both NIB & Nitrated or you can mix them up . http://www.dwilsonmfg.com/store/p18/AR10_Bolt_carrier_Group.html With the Buffer assembly , a 308 Carbine specific DPMS , spring & Buffer , it should work . The Heavy Buffer's Buffer & spring as long as its for a DPMS 308 Carbine type Receiver Extension , should work also . The UBR comes with its own Receiver Extension , an AR 15 Carbine type .

Called & talked to tech support at Magpul , first thing he asked me is what color of follower I had in the Mags I was having problems with , they are a gray/green color . They asked to send a description of the problem & some photos , so I sent them the ones from my previous post . He did say the same thing 98 said about the catch area & said it may need to be trimmed , up then I told him about the differences in widths & they wanted to see for them self . I told them there was no way I was going to trim 30-40 thou. off the sides of the mag . & still trust it <dontknow> You know , they never answered my first E-mail , wonder if I have an issue with my email , I guess I wait & see. -
