There are so many variables in getting tight groups of ten . Absolutely the first shot in hunting is the most important & that is where your rifle should be sighted in for , but there are variables there also , like temperature when rifle sighted in . Some powders or even factory ammo , shoot differently in colder or warmer temperatures . Knowing how your load & or factory ammo & where it shoots is good to know . This is all taken for granted that the rifle is clean & well lubed , as was said above . The ten shot string is IMO , is testing the barrel & its potential . Its something that is not needed for a hunting rifle , sure its good to know , but not necessary. Also try different bullet weights , as also been said , the barrel/ chamber may not like that load or bullet . And as you already know , practice will make you a better shot , well , at least it should . <dontknow> <laughs>

Didn't any one tell you I was old & have a hard enough time remembering what day it is & now you expect met to find something I read years ago , is this a test ? <laughs> I would not worry about the difference , because I think for any effect on the barrel , it would have to be extreme pressure on it . I will look around & I don't think it was an the inter web that I read it .

I try to help ! <lmao>

I agree , the SSA is a little smoother on the second stage , but like was said , hard to notice.

I also don't shot mine very much lately , because of all the other things I have going , but I also like to shoot the 300BLK . Its a fun cartridge , but I also reload . Ammo is getting more available & the cost is coming down .

Seems like the BS the country is in, is hopefully, just going through a cycle & will have people with brains being elected in the next election cycle .

There is a report out there some where , that talks about the set screw & Milspec tapered pin type of attachment of gas blocks , saying that ( They did the research to back it up ) those two types of attachments can change the impact of the bullet down range. I don't remember how much, but something in the way they put pressure points on the out side of the barrel , which interrupts the bullet path down the barrel , because they interrupt the pressure wave that is made by the bullet going down the barrel . Now how much is probably another matter of debate or if it really matters to those who don't shoot long range matches. I have a A2 mil spec pined front sight on a 1-10 ,24 " , 5.56 Oly. Ultra Match barreled AR & that is a fantastic shooter for thirty years & I don't think the pined gas block hampers its accuracy , but I'm not shooting matches with it , so to me its a non point of view. This might be a good one for the Barrel Harmonics thread . <lmao>

Aero Precision M5 upper and lower... .308 receivers

The F/A notches are in the correct plane for there Upper F/A. -
Why ,have you had them come loose ? Why do you figure two little set screws are superior to a clamp block , that completely surrounds the barrel with clamping pressure . The set screw type only pushes the top inner part of the gas block against the top of the barrel , there will always be a gap , although small , at the set screw point . Having the dimples on the Barrel does help that type .

The question is not how many rifles you were lucky to build with miss matched components & they worked fine , the question is how many did you build with this brand or manufacturers NIB coated BCG & in 308 ? Do you believe the rifle manufacturers don't have rejects that have to go to there custom shop to find why they malfunction or fail there test fire test ? You will never know how many fail & have to be reworked in some minor way . I can never understand why some people build these rifles & wonder why they don't work right away , using parts from a half doz. manufacturers . Its why Gunsmiths build & repair firearms & you are jumping into a field that many really don't have the experience & expertise to handle .Because some one builds a few rifles & doesn't have a problem & then through the laws of probability , they get one that because of tolerance stacking or other things , doesn't just spring to life . Its where experience come into play & why Gunsmiths get business , firearms do have malfunctions from various reasons , one being dirty components & plain out worn out parts . When you jump into the build your own , just like reloading , its a learning curve , although real Gunsmithing is by far the most complicated , just think of how many different firearms one has to know to be a competent Gunsmith, its really mind boggling . So , you had a new platform rifle & you think something is wrong with it , it was going to happen sooner or later if you build enough . Test fire the rifle , playing with cycling live rounds , is not a safe way of breaking it in . Use dummy rounds . Test fire with one round & inspect your spent brass for high pressure signs or case deformation & that the BCG is held back on last round from the Mag., then two , then three & if all is well fire to break in barrel , if you do that sort of thing .

I like that brown , something like what Colt does to there AR's .
-
I only use clamp on type & I like them made of Steel , but I have some that are Aluminum & they work fine . I don't use adjustable gas blocks , running Suppressed , you might need one .

Looks great . When I pick out a hand guard , I'll get in touch with you for pricing for a upper, lower & hand guard done , just like that .

Its a little wanker ! <laughs>

I don't think you will find anything with in those parameters . How well they shoot is a matter of many different factors , including the shooter.

The 9.5 gr. load was probably meant for sub sonic , its hard to tell what powder it is by looks . There could be completely different make up for burn time & pressure & still look alike .

What if your pleasantly surprised that barrel is a good shooter ? You may not know that for a few hundred rounds , or more . Action should be dry for head spacing , at least wiped down . Do all the break in & safety tests for safety sake . I would use a dab of Mil Spec or its equivalent grease on the back edge of the bolt lugs , less is better . Let us know how she roll's .
