I was going to say something about that raised rail . The gold cup slide has a flat rib from sight to sight & they probably drilled the slide for threaded holes . Too bad , just the GC is worth it , I have been looking for just a 70 series 1911, finding a GC that someone is willing to part with is hard to come by. 70 series GC slide for $ 300, really ?

Your best bet is to use the same manufacturers matching set of Upper & lower Receivers , being function ,can & will equate to accuracy . get a miss matched Upper & lower combo that have tolerance stacking & see where that gets you . You can read here in many threads where different upper/lower manufacture receivers were used & problems can come up . I have a set that are different upper manufacture than the Lower & had a few different problems ( both Billet ). I put all the parts on a DPMS lower with a Tactical Machining upper , which is a DPMS compatible upper & the rifle functions flawlessly & shoots a lot better, IMO . Bedding the action to tighten the upper/lower made a nice fit , but the accuracy suffered & that is proven by the targets that were shot before & after the swap out . This may come under the , Machined properly , as was said above .

I just don't think arming our Teachers is the answer , they are teachers , not LEO's & putting them in this situation is not really fair to them & the Students , even if the Teacher wants to be part of the program, they would be putting a lot on the line for this. Constant training , just to keep up on protocols/weapon handling would be time consuming , well they do have a lot of time off every year though .

So the Tactical machining is, Brass Aluminum Forge , wondered about that . I will post some photo's I took today . One of posters did say that Olympic Arms did forge there own , I still have to look at that one & photo any markings . Thanks Rob, for finding & posting .

Welcome from St Augustine, your going to love Florida .

Same doctor that put it in there , how about a second opinion . They are doing great things now a days & some old doctors just seem to stay in the Neanderthal age , which in some cases , not a bad deal . I think by the time your 60 years old , every thing you thought you survived when younger , catches up with you & everything starts to hurt . You just started early . I have never liked taking pain pills , but sometimes its the only answer.

Its this easy , make all our schools un-soft targets . Make sure everyone sees armed guards are present at all times that Children are present . I know some are going to say ,the kids will see guns & be scared of the guns , well that BS , they see LE all the time . Make a LE force just for Schools ! There are plenty of ex-military needing jobs . Money , well if you can find millions to see what happens to monkeys getting drunk , they can find it for the protection of our children ! This country seems to be upside down in there thinking , its almost like they want this stuff to happen & in part ,some may benefit from it politicly .

The Tactical machining Uppers I have , all have a Square type marking on them . I have to look at my Oly. , pre ban to see what it has . I will take some photo's for this thread . There is a listing of the markings for the different markings for Forger's , once I find it , I will post it , unless someone beats me to it .

I started looking into who makes the raw forgings for AR's & i'm posting some sights for reference . You may be surprised that your beloved brand , may have not made the receivers on it . Not a big deal though , its who machines & QC , not to mention the parts that go into them & who assembles them. Some Forum posts are a couple years old , so may not be the way it is now , but its just for reference . http://m14forum.com/m16-ar15/114939-cerro-forge-colt-there-s-some-relationship.html http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=50947

I agree , there are some good points being made & with out an open discussion , we would probably never read some of these. I see now I have to make a 155 gr. bullet load to compare to the 168 & 175 gr. loads I have set already , thanks for making more work for me . Its very hard being retired & have all this work piled on . <lmao>

Whats on your SBR ,Title II form or application , did it have Serial Number, Caliber or Barrel length on the application ?

That is a great way to lock one down .I will probably try one out when I get that far with any one of my builds . <thumbsup>

That's pretty much is what was meant in the beginning , it just got out of hand or should I say out of the 308AR realm , once or twice , well , maybe three times . <lmao> The title of this section is " Accurizing the 308AR " <thumbsup>

I too thank you, for sharing your experience here & as 98 put it not being a a$$ about , IMO , honest questions .There is no comparison between the platforms , but the nut behind the trigger could & does make a difference. Have you ever witnessed a snipers training ? If not , you may be surprised on how they practice shooting , making little one hole groups is part of it & they ( the ones I have met ) compete against each other on a daily basis & its not all about Silhouette targets. Of course not at your level of competition . As far as the guy with the high dollar rifle kit , just how many times do you think he shot at that range ? To shoot that far with iron sights , no mattel how long of a sight radius it has , is a great accomplishment & my eyes hurt thinking about squinting that long . <laughs> There is also a growing crowd long range hunters out there & some of there rifles are truly impressive at longer ranges , but it still takes a human to put all the equipment together to make any long range shots .

From the previous posts of the problems with this rifle , I hope so too .

It could very well do the same with any other manufacturers upper when mated to a POF lower . Doesn't matter if you use a spacer set up or not . Those spacers are made to get tolerances close to what a POF upper would fit , don't mean they will work with every upper manufactured. POF uses ( as was stated above ) proprietary components & if you use there Lower , you should mate it up with there Upper & this issue will not come up . I know that doesn't help you much , but now you have to rig something to make up for those tolerance differences. The kits above will help & seem to work. We have seen this before here , same outcome . -
One way to find out . :auto: Action may settle out with a higher round count also .

Could you elaborate on you quotes , not sure if your being sarcastic or or you believe in them . Are you saying a trained Sniper can't read the wind ? I'm sure Snipers use Milspec pre-loaded ammo , supplied by Uncle Sam . I don't think any of the ones I have met , have ever loaded there own ammo for combat. Have you ever seen any one use a 16" bbl. at a match , in your experiences ? Your long range shooting experience is quite extensive & I have a lot to learn about shooting that far & would like to , but no range with that kind of distance near me & my old eyes need glass . I have shot a lot with open sights & the last couple of years ,my eyes seem to be going to the dark side . <laughs>

Photo's or you don't own it ! <lmao> <dontknow>
