  1. ES & SD look real good on the second photo . What trigger system are you using ?
  2. It is possible that a longer lock time, may be adding velocity or other things may be in play, have you been using a chronograph ? By using a Chrono. , you can test the first 10 shots , then the middle & then when the action starts to act up. It might show other things going on with your ammo or the barrel .
  3. I'm running a Tubbs( Superior Springs ) spring in my 16" AR 308 with collapsible stock ,with no problems. Its a little fun to get in there the first time ,but works & I think works well. Some say they don't last ,but it seems smoother running than the stock DPMS carbine spring I had in there. It was just a trial set up & I kept it in there & am continuing its testing . Stock DPMS carbine buffer is still in there also .
  4. Didn't see that part on there sight , where'd ya get it ? Or should I say how , insider trading with out me is not acceptable . <laughs>
  5. You should be able to mark , drill & tap for rails with the hand guard on the rifle . If you take it off thinking you can set rails up with it off, it may not index to the same place as it was before being removed . If you are not sure of your skills , take it to a gunsmith , it will be money well spent .
  6. I looked closely at the sights & could see some finish worn off both the front & back blade & base . Good old Alumiblack & man did it make a difference , no more glare . Still may get a fiber optic for the front , but these will do nicely for now . Holster ware ? I am going to boost my Blue Dot loads up( think I can go two more grains if I need to .) & may use some Unique & see how that does. Than there's H110 also, might be too slow though. Nice to play with another new caliber . I have loaded some Cowboy lead up for some ,but no heavy loads like this can shoot.
  7. I just loaded some 150 gr. TSX's, for a hunter, in 30'06 . Also some 130 gr's for another's 270, Can't wait for a recovered bullet or two. The 62 gr. TSX's shot real good from my 24" 1-10 AR 15. I may be a CONVERT also..
  8. I'll post some photos this weekend , but got to shoot her today ( in the rain ) I loaded some of the original Blue dot ( 20+ years young )& 2400 loads . The Blue dot was a light weight , barely broke 1000 fps , very nice to shoot ( will go up with load ) , but the 22.5 & 23 gr. of 2400 were in the mid 1300"s , very sharp recoil off my rest. Could not get a good hold on the revolver off this type rest , will use my other one next time. I do not care for the sights , not sure if it was me & my Ray Bans or the rain, shot some fair groups with test loads though , for first time out . I may go pick up the 4 1/2" bbl. one that's at the store , very tempting. Nice pair , my o'lady likes the SA "s
  9. Your hoarding ! <laughs>
  10. It won't help , there's always some thing else . <laughs>
  11. What was the round count on that extractor ?
  12. Is it available as a spare part now from there sight ? I guess I should look before I ask . Have you put rounds down range yet with it in there ? Ya know I'm always looking for some thing else to try on my CMMG lower that the Pmags don't work in .
  13. Run her wet with good lube for the break in period & don't forget the buffer & spring . I also use a little grease on the backs of the bolt locking lugs & cam pin . Sounds like the action was short stroking , what that does is ,instead of the bolt face striping the cartridge from the mag, the bolt carrier tries to & thats a bad angle & the bolt also is above the cartridge , then it gets ugly ,can leave some good dents . Yes, what buffer did you go with , interesting , that just the buffer solved this issue , seems there should be more to it , unless the wrong buffer was in there to begin with ?
  14. Yes , well said .
  15. Adj. sights & I see I can load the 240 XTP bullets( just got some & Starline brass ) up there with my .44 mags , I can't wait . I have to wait another week for it to pass LE back ground & grace period . Never heard of that one down here ,but I got it the day it came into the shop used ,but you would never know it was used. The other one that he traded or sold to the shop was the same ,but 4.5 " bbl. & I liked it right away, nice feel & balance.
  16. If it wasn't a built rifle by CMMG , its a so called Franken gun any way . IMO , you will probable be able to build a better rifle ,because you will have what you want in it as opposed to what they want in it . One guy I shoot with has a CMMG 308 rifle , I liked it & has had no problems , but they do seem to have more than there share . The Tactical Machining upper is a good choice . They are down the road so to speak from me & I just got one & it is real nice .I have it on a DPMS complete lower in the photo , but am leaning toward just getting a TM lower for it . I can take a photo of it on my older CMMG lower , if ya want .
  17. Call or email JP's , could need threads chased in the bbl. or the comp..
  18. I bought as Ruger new model Black Hawk in 45 Colt the other day with a 5 1/2 " barrel. ( that means I can hunt with it in Ohio ) I have been looking for a Model 29( 25-2 ) or Anaconda in 45 Colt for a long time & this showed its self & I just couldn't help myself . Photo's to follow
  19. All I have to say is , wow ! I keep using my CCG lowered 16 " for testing these triggers ( why ? ,I have no idea )& I get between 5 1/4 - 5 1/ 2 # trigger pull & nice & clean , some creep , but no where near the other trigger & I haven't shot it yet !. Even though the one I took out has a 6# pull , consistently , its got a mile of creep. This ACT trigger is smooth. I"ll buy another for sure.
  20. I just noticed the New 8 th edition of Hornadys loading manual ( I just got it , first new one in over twenty some years ) has trim to length measurements in it & the only other manual that gives that , is my old Lyman , that I spoke of . The Speer, Sierra & older Hornady manuals do not. This is good ,because I use a lot of Hornady's bullets & surprising.
  21. Interesting . Wonder about the difference in the AR 10A ( & why )& wounder if it would work better on a LR 308 mag. ?
  22. The real thing you should be thinking about is , the alignment of the gas ports , the gas tube ( if proper length for the gas system ) will be ,where it is , in the gas key. If its the proper length gas tube for the system ,it will work properly, if the barrel & gas block gas ports are aligned properly & the barrel port size is correct.
  23. I have the std AR 10 mag catch in my CMMG lower & it holds the mag tighter in the receiver . I tried it to see if that would help with using Pmags in this lower , but they still won't function properly , as said all the steel mags work fine . Not sure how the new type ( A ) mag catch would work any different , just the (I guess " B " ) works fine in the CMMG lower. There is a thread about the differences in the AR 15 or DPMS mag catches & AR 10's , check the CMMG section its in there some where , just don't know about the newer " A " type or its Bolt stop . The longer threaded stem is the AR 10 mag stop , it also has more beef on the catch area.
  24. Heat transfer to the knob , may make it un-adj., if firing long strings with out gloves . Also the larger the knob , vibration may loosen even the best loc tight , a locking or cinch nut may be needed .
  25. Photo's of the TM upper I just got today . If you want inside photos I can take them in the day time tomorrow. Upper came with pins ,but my lower already has them installed , but may change them out .Nicely done I might add.
