  1. Could be your future. I'll never make it that far down the road , too old. <dontknow> I saved it to pass on , thanks .
  2. Don't be too surprised if all the mags are not gone , they are in hiding to come out later at rip off prices . Oh, wait , they seem to be coming out already . <munch>
  3. "Never let a good crisis go to waste "
  4. Ended they way they wanted it to :cookoo:
  5. I use a narrow range of powders , you will find that some bullet loadings will perform better with different components, be it primers or powder or both ( don't forget brass ) . The only primers I don't use are the Wolf brand . I test & chronograph different bullet loadings with different primers & powder charges to get the best results with a particular load be it rifle /pistol. Its not just the FPS its also consistency in grouping & I usually find its the SD ( standard deviation (low number )) that will produce consistent groups .
  6. If any of my brass has real noticeable burr's or extractor claw marks , a good small triangle file will make short work of them . I have had some that will be stiff going into the shell holder ( & some that won't go into them at all ), but the file takes care of them . If they are really screwed up , well , my motto is , when in doubt , throw them out . On controlling what happens to brass , well depends on the brass , some manufacturers will deform less than others . I think ,if you are trying to get max performance from a load , it can't be avoided. Every one talks about how Remington brass is so soft, yet I still get my best groups from it , but all rifles are different . What works for one may or may not work for another.
  7. That's a little too , fancy for me . A safe queen for sure though.
  8. How do you sign the damn thing ? I read nothing about where to sign it !
  9. Brass looks fine to me also . Ya have to remember , brass was never intended to be reused ,so what happens to it upon firing is not an issue , except to us hand loaders, that is . I'm not a fan of adj. gas blocks in most cases , I kinda like the over gassing ( if that's what you want to call it), makes sure the action functions with a wide range of ammo's. Be it dirty of lack or lubricant from repeated firing . With Bench guns , it don't matter much , adj. the gas may help groups or make them worse , you just have to experiment.
  10. Sure glad I stocked up on Magpuls before the election. I have friends that are already asking me if I want to part with a few . <lmao>
  11. The 10 pointer was probably kicking his ass for years , but he got the last one in & was victorious . <lmao> Ya see Turkeys do that a lot .
  12. This time of year brings out the wacko's , more then any other time of year. I can not write down the words of my heart felt sorrow to the family's. Strange these last two sicko's are about the same age . Notice they go after soft targets. Make them Hard damn it ! I would not worry about them being discreetly armed , show it off.
  13. I think the stock screws with holes in them are for draining water , the buffer its self has enough play to allow bypass air past it . I have them in rifles with & with out holes & no problems. You don't have to have limp stock weld to short stroke , if the stock slips off the shoulder , it can cause the same problem. I'm not a fan of adj. gas blocks .
  14. Nice , sure wish I could hunt with an AR, your lucky .
  15. Some more photo's , ya, I'm showing off . <thumbsup>
  16. The hammers sear ( its as far as I have looked ,until I get replacement parts ) failed & photo's will be taken & posted. I can say the trigger job that was done to it , I'm sure contributed to the mechanical failure . I can assure you nothing was near the trigger & the safety was on . The configuration of the FCG of an 870,1100,1187 only blocks the trigger from engaging the sear , to release the hammer , there is nothing to stop the hammer from falling onto the primer ,but the hammer sear , like AR's . The lighter the trigger pull , the less the sears are engaged , just the way it is .
  17. Most awesome set up I have ever used. I had five shots that day ( all ,but one ,were very long shots for a slug gun) & all but two were off hand & the 870 came right up with near perfect scope alignment. I can't say enough of how much I liked the stock. Everyone at camp were impressed with the new look & color , of course.
  18. Find out who manufacturers the gas tubes & see if they will custom make you one or two or sell you the material . There's a lot of pressure in that tube when a round is fired , so be careful of splicing things together.
  19. While hunting Deer this year with my Remington 870 Super Mag, designated slug gun , I had a multifunction that caused the firearm to discharge with the safety on & nothing touching the trigger. I put on a Magpul stock & forend on & did the test firing & sighting in before I left & no problems . This shot gun did have a trigger job about three years ago ( by a reputable trigger gunsmith )& that & the metallurgy of today's firearms probably caused the malfunction. We were standing a the end of the drive that goes into camp & catching our breath & BAM ! My 870 went off , I had a single point sling on & was resting my arms on the butt of the stock & of course , the muzzle was pointing down & slightly to the rear of me . The round ( an Hornady SST , sabot slug )made a nice hole into the ground & after looking my self over(my pants had not yet begun to smell ) I went into the cabin & got my cleaning cradle out & removed the trigger assembly . The hammer sear was rounded off & all you had to do was tap the assembly & the hammer would drop .Not sure how the sear looks ,but it will be replaced also . I see Brownells has all I need to make it better.
  20. Yep , a doe & button buck . there were two more does shot last day ,but pretty dismal compared to years that the weather was perfect like this year. We have no hunting pressure like we used to . I saw deer every day ,but the ones that weren't bucks were yearlings . I can't complain , I get one every year . <thumbsup>
  21. The Hornady SST slug did its magic & stoned this 10 pointer opening day at 1600 hrs.. I didn't shoot again all week , filled my buck tag & all I saw were bucks all week long & some better than this one . Go figure. A interesting thing happened to my 870 & I will post what happened in the General section when I get a chance.
  22. Base price $ 3295.00
  23. That sucks .
  24. He may be all that , but ,I have issues with his reference on "HOBBY GUNS " & get a reputable manufacturer to make one to make spec's . Please ! I guess, if ya just throw one together , for a shooter , maybe . The video will not alter the opinion of the nay Sayers of this round . I liked the attributes of this round so much , I built a dedicated rifle around it , oh wait , its a hobby rifle . <laughs>
