Boyd stock took about an hour of careful fitting , but was not bad at all . Can't wait to shoot her in her new dress. <laughs> Sorry for the first photos yesterday ,it was thunder storming the whole time I was fitting the stock.

Saw a thing on the Army shooting team Armorer & he said if they take all the copper fouling from a barrel it will take between 40-60 shots to get them back to shooting good groups . I missed the part ( or wasn't paying attention ) that said what rd. count that they did a deep cleaning , but it was a normal maintenance & they had to shoot that many rd.'s to get them back to shooting 1/2" MOA I just shoot them , Three mags as fast as I can load a mag & pull the trigger & if it goes with out a hitch, then I know the rifle will not fail. Then I clean & inspect it & she is ready for sighting in . But that's just my way .

I just got a new finished Walnut stock set for my M1 Garand , the Burch set is coming off( nothing wrong with it , just a change I promised if they ever went on sale again ) . I will take M1 porn photos of before & after. Rifle was built in Dec. of 1943.

Try a different lube , but anything made with" CMMG "in front of it would not surprise me. Have the chamber cast & head space checked if you want to make sure of the chamber dimensions. Could be a couple of other things , how does the brass look ? Pull marks from the extractor .

"Hope and Change" lower receiver...
survivalshop replied to 98Z5V's topic in Firearm Industry News and Gossip
Joke or no joke , I don't want any thing that reads that . Might confuse some one that I believe in that propaganda. -
Nice photo's by the way , but I see nothing to be concerned with . You can check the head space , just to make sure .
-
I believe KAC already has the shorter version.

Numbers , depends on what bullet . I just chron'ed a Barns 53 gr. TSX that I'm loading for Coyote hunting & my avg. vol. was 3113 , es -28 & sd -10 with once fired LC brass & 24.5 grs. of WC 846. COL was 2.200" per Barns spec's bbl. 24 " ultra match HB by Olympic Arms in 5.56 chamber ,built ( by me )around 1980 or some where there abouts. Groups have not been done a 100 yrds yet but by the looks of it , it should be 1/2" or better. I need a Geiselle for this rifle for sure . 308 is sub 2" @ 200 yrds in my 20" HB & if I put her on sand bags , I know it will be better. I use different loads for different brass , LC being a lower charge than commercial brass & my best groups have been with Remington brass . Not sure if its the brass or just a fluke . I use from 38 grs to 40 grs. for the 168 match bullets . You do know that these powders can be different from lot to lot & what I get with this lot may not be the same as what could be had from todays powders. I'm on my last 8# jug of WC 846 & its about 17-20 years old & I just opened it .
-
Nothing wrong with a single stage press , I make my best loads on one . Some say small base dies are not necessary & may not be , but it only takes one tight case in a chamber to stop all the others behind it from feeding . Bullets? It all depends on what you want them for or to do . Long range bullet performance will get you up into the heavy 's . Hog's , look at Barns or Hornady's SST's , but there are so many good bullets now a days , its hard to go wrong .
-
I have been using WC 846 for many years , I'm down to my last 8# keg. I use it for 5.56 & 308 . Its a little dirty be inexpensive , when you can find it .

How about some photo's yours , which seem to be in question .

DPMs bolt carrier problem
survivalshop replied to george_995's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
<dontknow> -
I assembled & fired my first mid gas system AR -15 & my first 1-7 twist barreled rifle the other day . I must admit ,I will not build another carbine gas system for myself , this rifle was built for a friend to his spec's ,but the mid gas system & H2 buffer was of course my idea. The worst that would happen is that I wouldn't like it & he would be stuck with it <lmao>, but I'm sold . The mid gas system & a Spike's H2 buffer & what a dream to shoot . I'm waiting for him to come over & go to the range right now & let him fire his rifle.

I couldn't find it , there's another poll there now .

Thats for sure , but I have a Commercial extension on my 16" 308 & will pull the CTR off & check it out .
-
If you look at the drawing & my post , its the out side thread dia . , not the out side extension tube dia . . The extra length , IMO , as said by 98 , is not a good thing , it reduces the spring compression & may cause BCG over travel . I can not tell you if this extension worked or not firing , but did work in hand cycling the action. Contrary to popular INTERNET belief , all receiver extensions are made from extruded 6061 , if you wanted one made with forged 7075 as is popularly believed , it would cost as much as a receiver set . I finally got a manufacturer to admit it on another sight . Now the threads are another thing , mil spec's are rolled & commercial are die cut , that's why they look different & why mil spec fit better.
-
Not a Vltor, I know that for sure . I'm not absolutely sure who made it ( I have an idea but will not name a name because I really don't know & of course there is not a manufacturers name on it ) , but I get 90% of my AR parts from one place & its not there fault , I picked this out myself , because it read mil spec until I got to looking at it. It is mil spec tube dia & that's where it ends . I installed it on a customers rifle & that's when I really noticed it didn't look right . Had to order a real mil spec one . I have a the install instructions from one of my older CTR stacks & it gives all the dimensions of the two receiver extensions & as said it has the mil spec tube dia. but the length & thread dia are commercial . Mil spec thread dia ------1.185" commercial thread dia---1.170" If you guys want me to scan these instructions , which have a good drawings & measurements , I will .I could not find it quickly on there web sight. And yes a mil spec CTR went on this extension with no problem & fits good . If we don't have this info on the sight , here it is.
-
I was not sure where to put this , since its for all AR types . I found a rec. ext. that is kinda odd , I talked about it in the Black rifle thread , in the pinky post by 98. Check these photo's ,both of these are mil spec out side dia. tubes ,but that's where they stop. The true Mil spec one is aprox. 7 3/16 long & the other wanna be is 7 13/16 long & have the std commercial tail on it , a dead give away ,but is being sold as a true Mil spec. Thread size or type are not mil spec ether.

There seems to be a lot of 300BLK ammo available( and the nay sayers said it wouldn't happen ) , there's some 115 gr. for sale now , don't remember where it was, but its out there.

Robocop1051's 14.5" Dissipator 300 AAC Blackout
survivalshop replied to Robocop1051's topic in 300 AAC Blackout
Robocop Your welcome , now a range report or I take it back <lmao> -
My point is , that any terrorist attack is just that , no matter who you are . To treat it like a 7-11 robbery , that the clerk got shot is not the same . I believe the gangs that are prevalent in this country are also terrorist's & should be treated as such . 98 I truly believe that the people in our gov. , now & in the past have subjected the citizens of this country ( & others ) to many diabolical criminal acts , in the name of altering public opinion or events . I'm not that naive to believe there is not a plan behind this , be it by our gov. or another . This event was probably choreographed to coincide with world events , just like fast & furious was to get laws or the Constitution degraded. I am old enough to have been part of & witnessed things , that I would not put any thing past this gov. or any other (or should I say , those elected officials in charge at this time ), to do, to achieve its goals .

Armalite BCG or DPMS BCG for AR-10 build
survivalshop replied to Makulu's topic in AR-10 General, Technical Discussion
If you want to know why this stuff is scarce , well its because a lot of people think commieberry still has a chance to rip off this coming election & people are trying to stock up & or buy before that happens & he signs an lame duck executive order baning all that we hold near & dear.(firearms wise , that is) Happened four years ago also . I have never done it ,but as said , as long as you stick with bolt/barrel combo( DPMS/Armilite ), the carrier is said not to make a difference. Just what I read on the internet . <dontknow>
