Pmags get my vote . I just wish my early (308 )CMMG lower on my 16" build would like them , but it doesn't . Any steel mag will work in her, just not the Pmags
-
I also like the Hand guard, nice.

Don't mean to bust any thing Jgun , just want to bring any info up front , so all of us can digest it & make our choices . If done correctly , you can do what ever you want with a barrel. I have always thought , that all the fancy machining & or grinding done to barrels , is more for looks, than actual benefiting a barrel & its accuracy. JMO

edgecrusher You scanner came out better than mine did. Jgun I have to look for those 125 MK, I have not seen them . If you buddy wants max wound effect , spooling up a 125 TNT will do it for sure , with the 300BLK. I believe the 125 gr. range is about the best all around bullet weight for this round & the 135 gr. MK is for longer ranges & still keeping some speed . I have not had the time to compare the G&A loadings with mine yet , but will . There are more powders out there to use for the 300BLK than I knew about .

I agree , just make sure you tighten & loosen the nut three times with the third being the one you finish at & alien the gas tube passage to the upper receiver. ( I assume you are talking about the barrel nut & not the hand guard cinch nut) Ya did say pins though <dontknow>. Grease of course or what ever you personally use, for barrel nut lubricant. I have a bunch of different barrel nut wrench's if ya need one . -
Shipped UPS & as said ,not the ups store. Only place that would ship it back to the factory or any place as far as I know. You can get any package with a tracking number.I think they all have them now , some shipped reg. mail can be tracked , if you want . I can see them wanting to keep better track & air will get you more security, but that's another way of miking us for more money ,if you ask me & its a monopoly , you can't go any where else to ship. They even made a stink about how I had it taped & what tape I used , even though the tape was recommended from there sight for sealing box's. I thought at first they changed it because of the new health care law coming into affect. <lmao> Still could have an impact on sales or the cost of them . Wounder what distributors are paying, there's I'm sure come UPS . That's how I used to get mine . All kinds .

Man, I got sticker shock when i shipped a Ruger back to the factory for repairs . $ 62 for over night because that's the only way they ship them . Even though it was shipped on a Friday & no way in He$$ is it going to get there over night . :'( The last one I shipped was a recall & they sent me a return paid label. When did they start doing only over night ? I looked at there sight , the over night crap even goes for receivers .

direct quote from Shilens web site: Also other barrel manufactures that do Fluting will flute barrel before any rifling is done . If ya want it done right It has to be stress relieved after ward.

Nothing wrong with compressed loading , to a point. I have seen bullets move in rds in mag. under recoil , so its a fine line on how far you can take it . Also the pressure factor can spike with a compressed load , but its a trial & error thing , as you already know . Did you see the loadings & COL in the last issue of G & A ?

The dissipator set up , is just to give a longer sight plain . If you plan on using the std A2 sights on a short barrel its good . I have no experience with CMMG barrels , wounder who makes them . My Wilson 300BLK barrel is a very good shooter, I just have to get a good trigger for it/me .

Any discussion in these threads is considered , at least to me , as informative in many ways . Gets us to know each other better & bond us all with a common passion we have together , AR's in any caliber & all the second amendment troubles & tribulations that go with them . If any of you have had or have brothers/sisters , lively discusions are always going to happen. Kinda clears the air between us. What this thread has shown me is there is a lot of different opinions here , as there should be. It is clear that there are States , Cities that do not conform to the Second Amendment to the Constitution. I often wounder why , we are always having to fight for the rights that are plain as day to us , but there are those that believe we shouldn't have or need this right . As with all the Amendments to & of the Constitution its self , should not be compromised in any way, but for those who want to interpet them to mean some thing that is clearly not what was intended , is traitorous to me & should be dealt with accordingly . The same Politicions that are screwing this country up , are sworn to abide to the Constitution , are not adhering to said sworn allegiance & to me are also traitors. Politicians are just looking for there next vote & if you think they really care about you or any organisation you belong to or represent , than that's your folly to believe them . The trouble with that statement is there are a few who really care , but are overshadowed by the much larger percentage that are there just for the free ride on the tax payers dime . We can take this further , the law in 1986 that was passed for the production of title II weapons for sale to the generial public is also unconstitutional & should be repealed. No where in the second amendment does it say we can't own machine guns . " shall not be infringed " means just that . I have sold & owned many & still do , but what was there reasoning to ban the manufacturing of said firearms ? None . There has never been any crime committed by a legally owned & registered Title II firearm.

If you look at the scenario you use for an example , I would be real hesitant to roll out & jump into any gun fight & there are some good reasons for not jumping in , unless you are uniformed LEO or as said in your example , know to the other officer(s). One , are you sure you know who is the bad guy & who is LE . Two , you could be misstaken for a bad guy (firearm in hand & maybe firing it ),by other LE coming to back up LEO that was in trouble, not to mention the LEO that is in trouble & not knowing who you are . I would not have a problem helping ,if I saw a LEO wrestling with some one one the side of the road & one could clearly identify him/her as LE, but just any joe blow citizen stopping & jumping into a fire fight, no I would highly not recommend it . Now on to the all being equal , that's not how Communism / Socialism work , its the privileged who are good party members or relatives of said party members that get the perks of life . We here have as has been posted ,all have the same rights , no matter who we are or what we do for a living . Of course that doesn't include convicted Felons. I do have one comment on unions , I see there use & the history of what they have done for the labor movement in this country , but they have taken to abusing what the real unions stood for . Its all about more money ,way past there working worth . The Private sector unions can do what ever they want ,because the products they make will control some what how much they can make out it . If they make the product too expensive & its not selling , the co.s profits suffer & concessions will be made( well except for some auto co.s ,we have to pay for them too ) ,but in the public sector , it doesn't matter , they just keep milking the tax payers. That is coming to a head in this country now , as it should . The unions have lost sight of what they are & where they came from . Man , this thread did go to the dark side like my barrel thread .

DPMS 308 FTE - fixed
survivalshop replied to eggie75's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
Disassemble bolt completely & inspect all components & where they fit . Also check your Carrier key for looseness or blow by . You said your bolt is tight in the Carrier , is it tight the full travel or just in one particular spot ? You have not said if the bolt holds open on last round or I missed it some where , but does it ? Also check your buffer & spring for any tight spots in the extension & proper lubrication . -

As said above , need to know what's the position of the case not being ejected. Have you tried different magizines ? I see you say you have Pmags , but were others tried & what was there out come. Polishing with 800 gt. may not be the proper polishing media , flitz metal polish would have been good enough. The springs for the ejector & extractor should be stiff ,but not to the point of being unable to compress them . Check for burr's on the extractor & bolt face area. I also put some Gun Slick grease on the bolt lugs , doesn't have to be that brand ,but some sort of weapons grease will help the bolt unlock until it seats properly , a little goes a long way . I know some that just love syn. motor oil on these rifles , but I'm not one of them & thicker oil is not always better. -
One would think there should be no difference in the cap. , as said , being of the same base cartridge case. The only thing in the mix could be the bullet configuration & how it fits in the mag. I have not seen the 125 MK's yet. Now your going to make me look .

This Freedom group gets more interesting by the day. Conflict of intrests ?
-
Just to clarify , you are talking about there std height , before they made it lower ? They have a high railed upper that no hand guard rail will match up with , with out an extension , also . If you are looking for the early STD height railed upper to match a hand guard , there are a bunch of them out there .

I saved it , has a lot of good info for all . Thanks . <thumbsup>

Matt , I think some are jealous of the fact that you have yours & some don't ;) ,But all know, if we don't have pic's here , you don't own it . <laughs>

Now that was a Merry Christmas for ya . Yes photo's or it was a dream you had !

You know even the lefties are behind it , they like money also & they won't throw a cash cow out that's making lots of it . There are lots of co.s making firearms & parts ,that they (Freedom group )don't own .

Commiefonia ,just doesn't get it . I do see a problem with it , when you start to let any group , purchase any thing that a normal citizen can't purchase , its unconstitutional. Now before you say ,well its LE , I have no problem with the said purchases being made by the Dept. level , but individual purchase , is some thing else ( its the States law ). I'm all for LE ,but I /you have every right to own ,purchase any thing that any individual LE can, because when they buy it for home or personal use , its the same as you or me . When we start making exceptions for any one because of there job title , its starting to sound like a privilege, that us peasants are not permitted to have, if you get my meaning . I don't know how a 'Shootest " can live in that State, I feel for you people that live there . It does have a wiff to it though , AP ummm?

Did you even read my post . No where in it ,did it state any facts except for the statement from a description of the process . I was asking questions & even implyed, I new nothing about it because it was new to me . I may be dumb , but when you see "defused into the surface of the steel " any thing you put on the surface of any thing , is a coating . I don't care how its done. I even said I was interested in it , but now not so sure . Just because they gave me a mod. title here does not mean I know every thing . I've been building , repairing firearms for over thirty years & with that experience , I look at every thing that comes out that I know nothing about , very thoroughly . I have seen a lot come & go that did not pan out in this industry & am quite sceptical of things new to me & that has worked well for me on sharing info to others, who rely & trust my experience. We know its the nut behind the barrel that will determine the outcome of the performance of said rifle , but in my experience there are a lot of factors that contribute to it . A std AR trigger will keep any rifle from performing to its max , I don't care who you put behind it . So , you got a couple of Navy guys ,shooting your worst barrels & doing good , well when you have your barrel winning national match's , then you can really say something . That's my opinion & I was in the Navy also! I take no offence ,Constructor, you have good info in your post , thanks .

I got a chance to finally mount & try out this trimmer & it is by far the most actuate trimmer I have ever used . Case by case ,they are on the money . I set it for 2.005" for 308's & I put 10 out, at that . I know its not a power trimmer & I can not put out 400 an hour , but that's not what I wanted it for , I wanted precision & got it . I load some specialty hunting ammo & they all require a crimp , so getting every case exact is what I'm looking for .

Hell ,I have that much in two of there revolvers.
