Sorta looks like a Larue ,POF wannabe. The BCG just seems to be lightened & the roller bolt cam is just like POF , I guess the piston guns like that roller . The one in my 16" DI rifle , seems to work fine also.

New barrel , needs breaking in (Some say the Tubbs break in bullets work ) Rifle barrels/chambers will like some ammo better than others . Was the rifle strapped down on a rest ,like a lead sled ? Eliminating all human error. Could have a stock fitment problem . If you think the bullets are tumbling , that would rule out the scope or its mounts . If you believe its the scope or mount , replace one at a time to see there is a difference. 8" between groups ? Does that mean group size or point of impact ?

That 115 gr. is a nice choice for Super sonic . I may get some just for comparison testing .

You can get .308 in any Wallyworld.

One would think ,a proper Match barrel , would be final lapped , & for just the same purpose that the Tubbs bullets are being used for .

7.62 ammo in a DPMS 308 barrel
survivalshop replied to toshu's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
Not to mention that DPMS is notorious for having rough chambers in there bbl's.. This could also be why they won't chamber NATO ammo, there truly is not much difference in chambers dimensions , being the 762x51 chamber being a little longer . Some say its for variances in manufactured NATO ammo , I believe its more in the line of firing a lot of ammo in between cleaning, being in combat , ya just can't go home & clean it after range time . Extra room for powder residue. -
I believe its the gas hole placement on the barrel that's a different length or where its set in the barrel . The gas hole to sight shoulders on there barrels should be the same . The do use some std. sights on there rifles. There gas tubes may be different lengths, for there barrels .
-
The risers I have seen(for front gas blocks) would put any std. buis in the same sight plane as the rear. I may be missing some thing here .I had to look up those sights , side or 45 deg. angle sights . Have you tried the YHM riser? It will put the gas block rail height the same as the receiver rail & if that doesn't put the two sights on the same plane , some thing else is wrong .

It looks like the rib is forword a little compared to the Pmag. You get to keep the pull tab or they provide you with a replacement adaptor to eliminate it .
-
Do you mean a block to be able to dry fire the rifle or to block the hammer from moving ? Which ever , it would not be to hard to make one your self .
-
I got the three pak of battle mags & I can tell you , they are impressive. Comes with two different floor plate options , I think , has a pull tab on the bottom for faster removal from rifle or mag pouch , at least I think so , I have to read up on them. I will take some photos tonight & disassemble one for a look see , but the feel of this mag. is very gripy & wet /sweaty hand or gloves , will not have a problem getting a hold of it . This is not a wanna be copy of the Magpul ,Pmag .

Well , I guess the 300BLK isn't going to roll over & die like some have predicted . I don't think that rifle is only directed at LE buyers.

My Heart Doctor just got one & when we can get together, I will shoot it & take some photo's .

Ya the Pmag is impressive ,it was by far the simplest to disassemble . The Pmag has other differences than the rest , the lead round is ( first to chamber ) is opposite of all the others & the spring end is also opposite of the others . The DPMS was by far the hardest to disassemble , You have to wedge a flat blade screw driver in between the floor plate & mag body to raise the keeper notches so you can use a punch or rod in the one hole to tap it off while holding the gap between the mag body & floor plate , to get it off . The Mag Tec was the hardest to remove the follower , CProducts& DPMS ,just fell out & of course the PMag is attached to the spring . If you look at the photo's of the Mag Tec mag spring & how it is twisted . I believe the sprung spring my be part of the problem , so I took some time & straightened it out & the mag did function better because of it . Not sure if it will stay that way ,but who knows . I plane on some range time Friday , for further testing. Bottom line is , if I had to do this with every mag I bought for a (semi auto fed )rifle , I might stay with Bolt actions .

I would try to keep ammo & chamber free of oil . That in its self could cause some big problems ,as you should know . Wet all mechanical moving parts & I some times use gun slick grease on the bolt lugs , to help with break in of the bolt/barrel extension mating areas.
-
After about an hour of filing & de-burring , I have the follower running up & down in the mag. pretty good . Will do some loading tests with dummy rd's . Here are some photo's , first from the left is the Mag Tec , then Cproducts ,DPMS & of course the PMag.

New rifle , new caliber , you will have to get the grove in for it & once you get that happy load & get used to it, you will do much better. "Glass , we don't need no stinken glass " <laughs> The 300BLK is a great cal. choice , for what you are using it for .

After Field striping this Mag Tec mag , The problem I see is the S/S follower is cheap & flimsy & has a lot of sharp edges . I believe it being flimsy & sharp edges are whats causing the mag to act up with more than 15 rds. in it. I have some photos of all four mags field striped for comparison & will post some time today . The only way I can see this mag work correctly is with a different follower. I can also say I will NOT buy another ! (Unless they get a better follower )
-
Ya can't go wrong with any of the rifles mentioned . It will come down to , what you want to pay , what are your use plans , & if you want to change any thing past its stock configuration .
-
What caliber is this rifle ? Have you tried factory ammo in it , for a comparison ?
-
Here's some photos ,the tallest one next to the Pmag is the Mag Tec & its the only one with a S/S follower. Even though it looks longer ,it isn't by much , its a pretty much straight up Mag.. With the DPMS & CProducts Mags. have a slanted floor plate & if you put them side by side ,there's not mush difference. The range session did not go well for the Mag. .It would not feed with more than 16 rd's at first ,but got better as I went on. At first if I took three or four rd's out ,it functioned flawlessly . You could tell by the way the top rd. was ,that it wasn't going to feed with out help. I did get to 18 rds. before I ran out of the limited amount of test ammo I brought with me. The follower is rough inside the mag. ,But was much smoother by the time I went through the test. I will disassemble the mag & inspect it for burr's & such & do more testing next week. I still think its a good mag. ,just needs some breaking in & or cleaning up. Its labled as a 20 rounder & should work with that amount .

Mag Tec mag function tested with my dummy loads & dropped free test ,worked ,today . Will do range time tomorrow .Also took some photo comparisons with Pmag,CProducts & DPMS mags. So far I'm impressed. Try to post if I have time tomorrow.
