  1. I have the Geiselle SSA in my 20" 308 & it is an awesome trigger. I dropped to 1/2 " MOA with it . I have never had a true two stage trigger , but this one , the first stage is like you are taking up slack & the second stage breaks like glass. Its nice you can hold the first stage , while making sure the sight is dead on & steady.
  2. My AR 308 Uppers measure , from the barrel extention face to the outside edge of the upper receiver .Barrel attached . DPMS -7.867" SIDefence (billet) -7.899" Even with some error in my measurements , they are real close to each other . Now with a bbl. attached to the IR upper , what would that show ? .
  3. Not really. It should thread on like any other threaded fitment. Are you talking about it being tight while putting it on with the spring & buffer already in it , that would make it a little snug because of spring pressure . Check the treads to make sure there are no burrs . Was this " Kit " from Fulton Armory?
  4. First , whats manufactures dies are you using ? Most ,if not all ,the base of the sizing die must make contact with the shell holder ,when the ram is at its top of its travel & lock it down there , that will give you proper head spacing . You can get a cartridge head space gage if you want to check it , but that's the way my RCBS dies instructions read & have been doing it that way for over thirty years with no problems. The cases after sizing , need to be trimmed to length , measurements will be in your reloading manual (you do have at least one ,right ) The case , if once fired or from a different chamber , will make a big deference in its ability to chamber ,because the case will be too long , if not trimmed & COL will have nothing to do with it . You will find that after the case is sized & trimmed ,the next sizing ,it will not need much if any at all trimming. The proper sizing & trimming will make your reloads chamber correctly .You can size & trim a case & see if it will chamber & you will know if you got it right. Right as far as the case is concerned . If after the emty case chambers & you loaded one doesn't , look to your COL as the problem & different bullet configurations may need to have the COL adj. You can download this: http://308ar.com/PDF/head_spacing.pdf
  5. How do we know he even wrote that or ,hell maybe the BATFE let them mags ,walk ! I no longer believe anything that comes from the media or the asshats in this administration or it cronies . This just more crap ,like "all the guns used in a crime in Mexico came from the USA " , its all propaganda to get us unarmed or weaken our ability to defend ourselves . Its really nothing new , been happening all my life .
  6. I like them , but there kinda pricey.
  7. As said I have a Millet TRS 1 4x16x50 & I will put the clarity of the glass to some of the higher priced scopes. (ones I can't afford ) With a twist of the locking ring at the base of the adj. knob ,it locks the adj knob in place until you want to unlock it & move it . Very solid scope & sure there are better , but for the price ,its a nice optic.
  8. I was being sarcastic about that statement . Sorry. But that brings up some thing else , if the comm. 308 is loaded , tested at a higher pressure than std NATO 7.62 , would not the higher pressure comm. ammo be more potentially dangerous to an older action ? The bottom line is , its the manufacturers that are just covering there butts with those disclamers. Shoot what shoots the best out of your particular rifle . We all know how some can be picky.
  9. If using a std 308 bbl. nut , or just about any bbl. nut, use grease on the threads as per manual & tighten down & loosen three times before you torque the bbl. nut down to line up the notch for the gas tube. Since you have a headspaced bolt for the bbl. , no need to go there . Make sure there are no burr's on the receiver face & its clean to accept the bbl. extension flange. Just put what ya want on there till the hand guard you want is available & remove what is needed to replace it . Ya get to shoot in the mean time .
  10. Well , I got news for anyone who thinks a piston gun is more reliable , them pistons foul up too. Then try to get that seized up piston out of there when it cools off . What fun ! You put enough rds out of any system , with out a cleaning & they all fail . Been there done that . Personally I like less moving parts, period.
  11. If loaded the same or the same ammo , the 22" bbl. will have a little edge in velocity down range , but not much. If you plan to reload , reloading for a semi auto is a little different than a bolt action . Magizine will limit COL & you will have to full length re-size the case.
  12. Nikon , Burris. I also like my Nikon, but I plan on buying a Burris next. You say you don't want a Millet , my TRS 1 has proved to be a fine scope & it has locking adj. knobs.
  13. So , that article is saying I can't shoot or shouldn't shoot comm. 308 in my 7.62 barrel ?
  14. If you built AR 15's , some of the parts for a 308 are just bigger . They all go together the same. Or, are you asking how to assemble the upper ?
  15. Trigger fitment may be needed because of the wide variety of manufacturers of AR 308 lowers, but its not the norm . Mine fit with out any mods. & most will .
  16. Now , if it had a rifled bbl. ,I might be interested . SDAR ( suburban deer assult rifle ) Ohio style
  17. That is the factory covering there arse. They only put that out there because there is some non US mil spec fodder out there that has blown up rifles & want to cover them selves . Just like reloads , cover the arse, if some one makes an over loaded rd. & blow the rifle up . Now some one needs to till me how , you will get rapid throat erosion from a lower pressure 7.62 vs the higher pressure 308 . It is true with some non US 7.62 might have some COL differences & tight 308 chambers might not like them ( what DPMS chambers tight & rough ,naw ) , but bottom line is they are the same cartridge , period.
  18. Just reading that part of his post , it seems the BCG is sticking out ,but its not contacting the buffer & pushing it away from the stop. No matter what it is , its still a manufacturing defect, both upper & lower made by same manufacturer.. He never said how long the DPMS upper was on there , so it may have taken a while for the buffer to start showing signs of a beating. I don't think he posted any photo's to see fitment of components , least ,I don't remember seeing any .
  19. Ejector hole inprint . Might want to check to make sure it has no burrs on the bolt face or a raised section. I wouldn't worry about it too much . If your a reloader ,some times you might have to take a fine flat file & dress up the case to make sure it will insert into the shell holder.
  20. Pretty much same ammo , just different name . Reloaders are using 300 Whisper dies to load 300BLK ammo.
  21. If you use your search engine , you will find Honady 110 VMax 300 Whisper out there. Able's , was one. I may pick some up my self for testing.
  22. AR 10 mag catch in my CMMG ,Failed ! I have no doubt this catch will do better at holding a mag in , but the measurements I got , of cartridge height above lower receiver deck were the same as with the M16 mag catch in there . I tested all mags with one round in them to make sure they all held the bolt back last round & all worked. The same bolt over as with the other mag catch . Charge the first rd. & the second is caught in the feed ramp & mangled. Put in a DPMS mag with 19 rds. & I can dump the mag. . Put a Cproducts mag with 20 rds. , dump the mag., no problems . It was funny , when I got done dumping the second mag. I had an audience , where I was alone before . I think they wanted me to keep it up ,but testing as far as I was concerned was over . I can say if you have to have one of those bullet buttons , I would try the Armilite AR 10 mag. catch , because it is a lot tighter . I will probably put one in my DPMS 20" also. I have no problem using steel mags in my CMMG lowered AR 308 , just the way it is .
  23. I have the same spring in my Carbine receiver extention . I had to lower the pistol grip to get the buffer retainer pin ,out of the way to install the Tubbs spring . Use something flat to push down on the retaining pin to keep it out of the way. I just found it easier to drop the grip to get it in . Same spring for both rifle & carbine ( collapsible )
  24. Don't think its angled in any way . Have to take a closer look .
