  1. saw a link to it on the az shooting forum. wish i bought 2 since im sure ill have another eotech at some point. i almost drank some aimpoint koolaid because the eotech wont co-witness with the VLTOR rail, but it doesnt matter anymore with the QD and i would much rather use the eotech. also figured out my back yard is almost exactly 25m long. add laser boresighter. no more wasted ammo at the zero range :)
  2. They are like $80 msrp. Showed up today. Installed in 5 min. Included all needed tools. Eotech is now perfect.
  3. On the subject...botach is blowing out ggg qd levers for 19.99. Ordered one xmas day...tracking says it will be here tomorrow. Almost want to buy 2 more just in case....
  4. Embiggens is a perfectly cromulent word.
  5. Pretty good plan. Would work like a charm. Americans are dumb as rocks.
  6. Have you looked at half.com or Amazon for used copies? I will never buy a new book again.
  7. So...are the guys that paid $40 per mag over the past few irrational panic filled days going to be pissed when everyone re-ups after the 1st and prices return normal? How about when palmetto and Walmart restock with dirt cheap ARs? Some of my coworkers were asking about my stockpile of stripped lowers like they were made of gold plated bacon. This crap is just silly.
  8. I never really thought of the military aspect of it..but maybe theres something to the training(brainwashing) aspect. Lord knows I slept with that evil black rifle every night for about a year in the dessert. I handled one on a regular basis since basic training in 1995. I like other rifles..but nothing else feels "right" to me. I cant imagine having to give them up. Its a depressing thought.
  9. great post. that should be shared around. <thumbsup>
  10. Two guys at work...both long time Hunters..have been on the fence for the last year about ARs. One went to the "prepper" convention we recently had and it helped him make up his mind. I convinced him to snag one of those TROY guns from dicks. The other guy just called me this morning to tell me he wanted one but can only find $1200 bushies local. Told him at this point he can either over pay...or roll the dice and risk missing out.
  11. guy at work bought that front sight/gas block...and then realized his bushy carbon used a tiny pencil barrel and it wouldnt fit. he sold it to me for $50!!
  12. face lift. we all get bored of looking at the same rifles. tom just builds more. i would if i could, but i cant :P so the gun with the carbon handguard had a little face lift. i wanted something that looked different than the stag (low pro..extended tube) i just built. added VLTOR CASV-EL and GG&G gas block/rear buis. i think its a hot little beast!! also added a new ejection port cover lol.
  13. already started on most...and they are taking a beating on facebook...
  14. somebody posted a link to M855 on CTD for $900 a case. looks like they reconsidered that one too though. douchebags. the industry doesnt need them around.
  15. probably not a hard call after they lost so much money on those TROY rifles for $800 on black friday lol. i know the manager of the store in planeflyers neck of the woods and she told me the stores cost of those things was close to a grand.
  16. already puling bushies off the shelves. this is getting bad in a hurry. not to mention everyone has completely forgotten about the economy and fast and furious and all the other stuff the government would love for you not to be thinking about.
  17. cheaper than dirt scumbags raised pmags to $60 each for about 3 hours....i guess all the people telling the to F-off on their facebook page caused them to reconsider...but they are still at $30 ea. F those scumbags.
  18. Or they know something the rest of us pawns dont know and realize its about to become a major financial burden to own companies producing a product that cant be sold...
  19. Where exactly are you robo? My dad just bought a house in placerville. My sis is still in sonoma.
  20. Clarification needed....when you say xc these days you are generally referring to a super light 4" travel bike sutable for going very fast on relatively smooth trails. The "all mountain" or AM catagory has become the general workhorse of the mountain bike world. You mentioned rocks and roots so id suggest something in a lightweight 6" flavor. I do enjoy snobby boutique builds...but when it comes down to it the "big3" (specialized/giant/trek) are putting out some great bikes. I rode my buddies speshy enduro and its probably the greatest general purpose bike ever made.
  21. depends on what you want. that bike is still plenty ridable. if i didnt want to spend a ton of money and just wanted to hit trails than dont sweat it. if you need something a little more efficient to get you up a tough climb you have trouble with....or to bomb down a rocky section a little faster... if you are a toy junky and want cool stuff (yea, i know you are) than start shopping. if i was going to rock that bike...id buy a nice fork..upgrade the components to some fresh sram x9 (maybe find some NOS 2010ish stuff for cheap) get some nice avid brakes (juicy would do) and maybe a nice strong wheelset. you could probably do it for under a grand...and then you can keep an eye out for someone selling a nice newer frame on the cheap. swap your old stuff back onto the old frame and sell it to cover the cost of the new frame. i hustled my way up the bike food chain that way. there was a 2 year period where i was riding something different every month lol.
  22. Im not into 29ers but I know plenty of people who will never ride anything else. I guess if you are on xc trails its a good option...but I prefer the meaty stuff so ill keep it 26. 650 be seems pointless and generally unsupported by the industry. If you are riding a hardtail, things havent changed too much but the components have. 2004 XTR is probably equal to modern LX stuff. I personally prefer sram components to shimano. New brakes will blow those old Hayes out of the water. If you want a suspension bike than theres no co mparison. Suspension Components (shocks/forks) are lightyears ahead. Materials and tube strenght/design are better..and the suspension designs and geometry are much more efficient. To be honest I feel like my 2009 bikes are dinosaurs even though they retailed around 4 grand each.
  23. you are much more awesome than me. <thumbsup>
  24. Nice match!
  25. That news story really bothered me and still does. My little girl is my life. Literally. I dont think id be able to live with myself. My wife and I lost a child earlier this year and its a whole different kind of hurt thats never going to go away. Story: I guess I was 9 ish and pheasant hunting with my uncle in nor Cal (I grew up in sonoma) I was carrying an ols single shot break action 410 (you all had one...with the rainbow patina). The dog hit...and we all started jogging. I remember cocking the hammer...and BAM. dust cloud at my uncles feet. Nobody even said anything. I was so mortified and embarrassed that I think of that moment every time I pick up a gun. Im sure it has saved me.
