i know that a great number of us have conciled carry weapons. That brings to mind the question of where do you keep it when not on your person? Mine rests on a shelf ,next to my chair, or when in the shop, on a shelf under the bench. Since I decided that it was time to carry, again, it is never out of arms length. As someone once said, you never need a gun untill you REALLY need a gun. Respectfully Terry

The Tarus warranty pissed me off over 30 years ago. I haven't bought, sold, or reccomended one since. Respectfully Terry

For the last 40 years I'v used 2 loads in many 100's of .44's, Mostly Rugers and smiths. 8.5 of unique with a 250 Kieth bullet, and 240 Sierras over 24g of 296. If the gun's gonna shoot, it will shoot one or both of these really well. If the gun didn't shoot eathier, it just would not shoot. I'v had more than one gun that had problems and had to go back to the factory. Both Smiths and Rugers. In the 70's and 80's I worked on many guns for the then "new" sport of Handgun Metallic Sillouett. Also, new guns need to be broken in, and when switching from jacketed to lead, or the other way around, it takes at least 10 to 15 rounds befor you start seeing the gun shoot with the different bulletts. My wife and I gave my younger brother a DPMS Sportical just befor thanksgiving two years ago. He loved playing with it. He suddenly died in March, last year, and his wife gave the gun back to me. I'm glad it gave him so much pleasure. I think of him every time I see it............. Terry

I built a RRA lar8. all parts .308 except the bbl. The bbl was a dpms 260 rem. I had to take a couple of file strokes to the front feed lips on the mags, no big deal. i just got 2 new plastic mags, haven't had a chance to try them out yet. Dammed snow!!!! so far ,I'v only got about 100 rounds through it, I'm extremly happy. Sub 1" groups! Respectfully Terry

It depends if you are a reloader, or shoot factory. If you like to reload, for the AR15, I'd go with the 30hrt. I just built one and love it. Its a rimless 30 Herrett, based on the 6.8. For the AR10, I just built a 260, and find it a really nice ctg. Respectfully Terry -
22-250 Build on Lr-308 Platform-Looking for Cycling Issue Help
Tripledeuce replied to cdnick's topic in Building a .308AR
My younger brother and I have shot the 22-250 for over 40 years. Rapid bbl wear IS A MYTH!!!!! I built a lot of them befor Remington made it a factory ctg. It wears the bbl no more than any other hotshot 22. For many years, he 40's and 50's it was used extensivly in early bench rest shooting. My current 22-250 has almost 6,000 rds through it, and while it dosen't shot 3/8" groups anymore, it dose shoot 3/4" all day. This "wear the bbl myth" has no basis in fact. Respectfully Terry -
My apoligies. Spelling and dyslexia don't do well together. Especially when one is as computer illerate as I am. Unless the spell check is really well marked, I usually miss it. respectfully Terry

I never met Fairborne or Sykes, But Rex Applgate had a very inflated image of himself, much like Col. Cooper. You couldn't hold a conversation with the Col. You listened while he lectured.LOL!! Hatcher was a very interesting person. At one time or another in his military carrer, He was in charge of both Springfield and Frankford arsnels. He did many interesting things, one of which was co-inventing" the 35 Whelen, which he named for Towsand Whelen. Respectfully Terry

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 5 days, and 29 views, and NO_ONE has read any of these??????? No wonder so many people are re-inventing the wheel. Terry

muzzle device affect on accuracy
Tripledeuce replied to hobbesgunner's topic in Accurizing the .308AR
Mike, the 11* crown is as good as any,it's just not any better. you have to have some type of crown, on tgt rifles I do put 11*, but on hunting rifles, and sd( self defence) guns I put a crown that protects the muzzle better. Either a rounded "traditional" crown, or a recessed "flat" crown. Respectfully Terry -
I'm just wondering how many of you have read some of the "old Classics" of gun books. Stuff like Hatchers Notebook, Pope and Manns " the bullet flight from powder to target? Towsand whealan , or Greeners , just to mentiomn a few. Respectfully Terry

muzzle device affect on accuracy
Tripledeuce replied to hobbesgunner's topic in Accurizing the .308AR
bullpoopy! The angle or shape of the crown has absolutely NO effect on the bullet. As long as the crown is square to the bore,,,,nothing else matters. The Army tested crowns in depth, including high speed photos, ans found NO effect on the bullet. The Army found that the gases exited the muzzle at 11* no matter what the crown looked like. muzzle device affect on accuracy

I know several big bore competitors who shoot Camp Perry every year. Some of them use "bloop tubes" that is,,,,,,barrel extensions that change the harmonics of the bbl. Several use them to increase sight radius, and several to "tune" the barrel. Then, again, Browning has the "The Boss" that a lot of people swear by. Others swear at it,,LOL!! So, yes, it would seem that sticking things on the end of the bbl can change things. Just facts, from the "real" world. respectfully Terry -
All balls need a good polish, once and a while...... lol !! Terry

Also, not lubing the inside of the case neck can encourage case neck "stretch", necessitating having to trim the cases more often. With a new die set, I put the expander ball in the lathe, and polish to a high polish. Respectfully Terry

I use Hornady's one shot, and case form lube. Both are easy to use and to clean up after. respectfully Terry

It would not fit in a 260, UNLESS the 260 had been long throated for a heavy bullet. 160 grain and up are commen 6.5 bullets in many other countrys. A guy named Ken Waters, you may have heard of him, he wrote for both Handloader and rifle mags, came up with a 6.5X308 in the '60's he called the 263 express. He used a lot of Norma bullets he had that were .263" in dia. It's isted on page 356 of PO Ackleys book. Vol1 Also listed in " The Handloaders Manual of Cartridge Convirsions". Page 247.
