Different brands of brass are made out of different mixtures of "brass". That causes different expansion rates in the brass. Also, different neck thickness DOES cause different pressure on the bullett, and different relese of the bullett. Neck turned cases relese the bullets differently than non turned cases. Short answer, I have personally noticed diffetent poi from different brands of brass with several different weapons. Respectfully Terry

Try miking the depth of the unprimed pocket. They may be just enough deeper to not fire. Respectfully Terry

My wife's been after me to build her a lite varment rifle for this ctg. LOL!! Terry

Both Solos came through regular dealers, not guns sent to wrighters, etc. I can say with complete honesty that My wife and I have had NO failures with either gun, and both seem quite accurate. As for my ultra carry II, no failures at all, even with some reloads thrown in the mix. As far as accuracy, my wife bought a @6" plastic "bullett ball" and I have no problem keeping it bouncing out to 50 yds. Respectfully Terry

Back when I owned a retail shop, I used to judge various gun mfgs on how many of thier guns came in for repair. 40 years later, I'v altered my way of thinking. Now I also look at "real world" reports of guns, not the blarny spouted by most gun writers. Failures for feed, fire, and eject are of real importance! So is fit and finish of parts. So, my question, what do "you" look for in a new firearm? Respectfully Terry

I worry about shooting less ammo developing loads, because I want to shoot MORE of the accurate stuff!LOL!!! Respectfully Terry

Friend Matt, Friend Shoofly didn't say he couldn't afford it, he said it was a little expensive for his taste. The first question I use to ask people who came into my gunsop, wanting to purchase a "self defense" gun, was the question ."Whats your life worth?" That question helped both the buyer, and the seller( me) decide what price range of weapon to look at. Also I had to remind many of the cost of ammunition, to become and stay proficient with that weapon. Yes, I lost some sales, because the customer decided that they just could not afford everything, But I could go home and sleep at night, Knowing I had not sold a gun to the wrong person just for the money. I don't rember who said it, but there is an old saying, " Ethics is what you do when no-one is looking." By the way, my Kimber ultra carry II has had a little over 2,000 rounds through it, including some reloads, with 0 ftf. 0ftf and o fte. My wifes solo has about 300 rounds through it, also with 0 on failures. And I just got another solo from a friend, and with 200 rds through it , also 0 failures. When it comes to defending my family, the best is just barely good enough. Respectfully Terry

The vast majority of the batf personell I knew in the 70's and 80's were ex-leo, and most were VERY nice guys!!!! Several even made my shop thier local hangout. I'v heard a lot of bad storys, but my PERSONAL experiences were all mostly positive. Respectfully Terry

My Kimber ultra carry II is the only gun in the safe that I'v done absoultly NOTHING to. As a professional gunsmith of some 40 years, that really saying something. I'v fired @1500 rounds through it with NO problems. Respectfully Terry

An interesting article! I'v used this method for years, after being advised by a benchrest master of the method. It works, and saves time and ammo. Respectfully Terry

I'v fired, and carried, thousands of different handguns in my 40 years of being a professional gunsmith. My favorite is a series 70 Colt 1911 in 45ACP. I bought it new, in 1974, and literally fired well over 100,000 rounds in it ( to the tune of two new bbls, and one new slide) . After replacing the slide, I retired from competitive shooting, and the gun "only" has had @25,000 rounds through it since. I'v got Colts, SW's, Rugers, Berettas. walthers, Uberties, and several others in the safe. The one brand I refuse to buy is Tarus. That "old" 1911 is my "go to" gun. Terry

At the time period I'm talking about, the only extractors were GI surpless, or genunine Colt. Not much of a choice, but no inferior parts, either. Respectfully Terry

The Pig guide had a deal with a local resturant. We took two home ( they were terrific!!!!!) and the guide traded the rest to his friend. One of the pigs we took home was over 300#, the other was what we called a "bbq" pig, just over 100# dressed, and we bbq'ed it whole. When we had the gunshop, my wife and I hosted what we called "Turkey Day" on the Sunday befor thanksgiving. It was when we invited all our friends from the shop over for "dinner". The last one we hosted, we had 79 people over. Did a whole pig, and deep pitted a whole rear haunch of venison, along with one "traditional" turkey, and one done in a Webber Kettle. Those were some fine times. Terry

In the late 80's, my wife and I had a monthly trip scheudled to Paso Robles. On one occasion we chased the pigs through a wheat field, and down an embankment, and up a ridge on the other side,,,,,,,a lot of pigs ran through an opening at the top of the ridge, and it was like a shooting gallery!!!!! My Mauser 375-06 only held 5 rounds, and I had to single load three more rounds befor we ran out of hogs. I shot 8 pigs, with 8 rounds, and they all landed in a pile at the bottom of the hill. No pics, but I have three people who were with me who saw me do it. God! I love to hunt pigs! Respectfully Terry
