  6. The easiets way "I" have found, to keep them in place is to tap the hole for a nylock set screw. Never have to worry, after that. Respectfully Terry

  10. Well, I rember 94, and the 70's and 80's. And, I'm to old for the militia. But I can still pick up a rifle, and hit what I shoot at. Respectfully Terry

  14. Thats like asking if cars have changed. I live in Durango, Colo. Some say the mountain bike capitol of the world. I have a good friend who works for one of the bike mfgs. He says things are changing all the time. He made 5 trips to China last year to oversee changes to some of the parts. Respectfully Terry
  15. Jon, I respectfully have to disagree with you. I'v seen quite a number of guns that "accidently" discharged because of mechanical wear, someone who didn't know what they were doing working on them. or just plain bad parts, or a combination of conditions. One memorable occasion was a customer who brought in a brand new Win M490 .22 semi auto. Guy took it out to the range, loaded a clip, went to relese the bolt, and the gun fired the whole clip!!! Guy came in, still shaking! I called Winchester, and soon after, Win recalled All the 490's because of out of speck parts. No one was hurt, because the guy was practicing safe gun handling, and the gun was pointed down range, But I can say, AD's DO happen. Respectfully Terry
  16. I'v got a 260. But, if I were to do it again, I think i'd go with the 6.5 Creedmore. Less powder, but more length of neck for different bullets. Respectfully Terry
  17. Sooner or later, its going to happen to EVERYONE!!! Not a case of "if" you will have an AD, just WHEN. Glad no-one was hurt! Respectfully Terry
  18. We , my wife and I, got her a Kimber Solo. Its the ultimate, I think, in conciel ability. Almost 500 rounds through it now, everything from re-loads to American Eagle cheepy stuff, to Federal hydrashock. No failures of any kind. Got a second one for a female friend, she has a couple of hundred rounds through hers, also with NO failures. I am so impressed, I have one on order for myself. Me, who, for 50 years, has said I'd NEVER own a 9 for self defense. Respectfully Terry
  19. Your right, Rene. Thats why I have a permit, and carry. When we moved to Durango, 25 years ago, I hung my ;45 in the safe, and it stayed there for almost 24 years. But, Things change. And my .45 has come out of retirement, and I'v put almost 5,000 rounds through it, getting re -aquantied.LOL!! Terry
  20. One night, about midnight, I was working late at he gunshop. Heard a noise outside. Went out, .45 on my hip, shotgun in my hands. Woman on the ground, big guy standing over her. Whats going on, I yelled. None of your business was yelled back, and the shadow started toward me. I racked the shotgun, and hands went in the air. Don't shoot him, yelled the woman, he's my brother. Every one but me jumped in the car at the curb, and away they went. The sheriff showed up about 45 minutes later, and wanted to know what was going on. I had called 911 befor I went out to find out what was happining. True story Terry
  21. Each year, our local gun club hos "open sight in days". I menion this ecause I have helped for the last 22 years, and each year we help people sight in between 400-600 guns. With all those different guns, I can say , conclusivly, that MOST guns will NOT shoot different ammo to the same point of aim. Many guns will shoot two or three types of ammo into good groups, but NOT to the same poi. Many guns will shoot only ONE of 7 or 8 brands/weights of bullets well. Many guns will not shoot to the same poi with a hot barrell as from a cold barrell. You just don't know what YOUR gun is going to do untill you test all the variables. I'v seen guns that would string 4,5 6 or more shost untill the barrel stabalised, then shot little tiny groups. I'v seen guns that would barley keep 5 shots on a 12" target with one brand of ammo, shoot just over 1" groups with another brand. You just need to spend a lot more time at the range, and shoot a bunch more. LOL!!! Respectfully Terry
  22. +1 on the Nikons!!!! Wife has a m223 2-8 on her 5.56, and I can easly see the .22 holes on the 100 yd target! I'v always been a Leaupold man, but those Nikons are impressive! Respectfully Terry
  23. Perhaps your correct, But I personally don't know of an mfg. who does. Respectfully Terry
  24. I have a DPMS bbl on a RR rifle. Both companys said it would'nt work. Not being one to simply accept things, I miked and measured, scratched my head, and went ahead and did it. Ran it dry at first, untill I found this site, and have @500 rounds through it now with NO failures of any kind. To many people today who call themselvs gunsmiths who are nothing more than glorified parts changers. Make the changes you want, and find your confidence in the gun. Have fun respectfully Terry
  25. I was judged physically un fit to serve. It remains he biggest regret of my life. Respectfully Terry
