  1. My wife is really happy with her Saturn 6.5 grendel. I;d wait Respectfully Terry
  2. Reloading is only less costly because he fired brass is "free". If you add he cost of brass, you might as well buy factory, if you can find the load you and your gun like. But, personally, I take great pleasure shooting things with a weapon and ammo I put togeher, Respectfully Terry
  3. The major problem, as I see it is Wayne LaPierr. He has been in charge WAY to long!!! Respecfully Terry
  4. I go a gerber, first. The second time I caught my fingers in the handle hinges, I gave it away, Most commenly carry a Leatherman "wave", but right now am carring a "Kick", Respecfully Terry
  5. No, but I once did that with a SS ,22 that had bullets suck from the breach withen @2" from the muzzle. It was a long time ago, but I think that when we weighed the lead, it added up to 12 or 15 bullets,,,LOL!!! Terry
  6. There's a gun in the pic??? <lmao> Terry
  7. Ohhhhhhhhh!!! <lmao> my mistake, again.... <laughs> Terry
  8. My brother and I shot thousands of lead loads through our M-1 carbines! Bur, if I didn't strip the short stroke piston and clean it every 400-500 rds, they would lead up so bad that the piston wouldn't move!!!! Getting the piston loose and out required a procedure I now know to be so dangerous ,I'm not going to even tell how I did it! Stupid Kids seem to get away with a lot of dangerous stuff. I wouldn't even THINK of running lead through a gas system, unless I was planning on throwing away the gas tube and replacing it when the gun stopped working. Respectfully Terry
  9. I think the bunny suit would be a little small on me. I'd need the pink Elephant suit! Terry
  10. no,no,no.....its 9825!!!! LOL erry
  11. Lets see, loaded ammo, or just brass? Loaded ammo: 1,000 rds factory .45 ACP 2,000 rds reloaded 45 ACP 1,000 rds 44-40 1,500 rds 44 spl 1,000 44 mag 1,000 rds factory +P+ .38 spl 5,000 rds 38 spl reloads OH! Almost forgot, 5,000 rds 9mm! Rifle would be hard to break down. 500 260 Rem 140 gr Hornady's 1,000 5.56 1,000 22 hornet And at least 100-200 each of 25-06.270 win, 500+ of '06. , 338 Federal, 338-06.375-06, 375 H&H, 40-65, and 45-70. As for empty brass,,,,,,,,,, Just to much to go through. A 20MM ammo can full of 45ACP, and abou 100 plasic shoe boxes with everything from 22 hornet to 45-70. Respecfully Terry
  12. As a gunsmith, I have always made it a priority to have a "personal" stock of parts that might be needed for every gun I own. Being new to AR's, what parts should I stock for the LAR8? Thanks Terry
  13. That is a very low amount of ammonia. Terry
  14. The best battle rifle is the one you can get your hands on befor the battle. Respectfully Terry
  15. Ammonia will cause brittle brass! The long range black powder shooters learned this long ago. I once ruined a very expensive batch of 40-90 Sharps brass using windex. Respectfully Terry
  16. Problem is, the nearest Sportsman Wearhouse is 350 miles from here. Terry
  17. I would respectfully ask "what is the pourpose of these reloads?" Terry
  18. My fit on the headspace gagues was he same as Hoots. Bolt would turn into position with the go-gauge,but you could feel the gague. By hand turning the reamer, I removed only on he diameter of the chamber. I did NOT affect the headspace at all. Respectfully Terrt
  19. As an interesting aside: While my chamber was a "tight" go, simply turning the reamer by hand removed several thousandths from the diameter of the chamber. The aside is- the rifle shot BETTER with the chamber opened to min specs. Even the benchresters know that that there has to be a slight , but real space for brass expansion. Respectfully Terry
  20. The Lyman is good for cast loads, but I have not used it for jacketed for over 20 years. I try to use the book published by the mfg of the bullett I'm using. Nosler and Speer and Hornady are my favorites. Got two copys of each. One on the book rack by my reading chair, one on the loading bench. Respectfully Terry
  21. California dosen't need money......They just issue "vouchers", like the feds!LOL!!!! Terry
  22. The cost of a bullet on a hunt is negligable in relation to the rest of the costs. Hell, the bullet could cost $10 each, and the average hunter wouldn't shoot enough to make the cost signafficant given the rest of the costs. Thats one of the reasons that I personally think that the best is just barely good enough, Respectfully Terry
  23. In '77 or 78, I had a retail gun shop in Calif. Built a guy a handgun Metalic Sillouett unlimited gun using a short Sako auction. 15" bbl, walnut stock, williams ramp front, globe front sight, and a Lyman peep rear sight. Regestered the whole thing as a handgun....... Never heard a word from the State boys.LOL!!! Over the years, I'v replaced the bbl three times as he wore them out.LOL!!! He still shoos it every three or four months, at a local club shoot. Want a sbr? just build a handgun! Respectfully Terry
  24. The Ruger is a fine gun!!!!! I'v worked over several hundred both for Handgun Metalic Silouette, and Cowboy auction shooing. Eight oz to one pound triggers on the MS, 2=3 pound triggers for Cowboy. Enjoy your piece! Respectfully Terry
  25. My wifes 270 win shoots a 130 grain old style nosler at 3003fps. Between her and her girlfriend, its accounted for 17 elk in the last 20 years. Lost one the friend shot that was in a small herd, when it went over the fence onto private property ( Indian land, definatly NO TRESPASSING). She has also taken 5 elk with her 375-06, which she is going to use this year. As she said, she hasn't taken anything with it in a few years..LOL!!!!!! Respectfully Terry
