  1. We currently have 3 sets of these: http://www.howardleight.com/ear-muffs/impact-sport--2 Very good...though they interefer with the buttstock with long guns a bit (not as much as some others I've tried). $60 in store or less on Amazon. They have a new style that provides every more noise reduction, that I don't see on their website. They have them on the shelf at Sportsman's but I don't see them at Sportsman's website either. These are priced at $80.
  2. Welcome from AZ!
  3. Like a twin-bladed turkey knife or a hot knife for foam?
  4. Welcome from AZ!
  5. Howdy Brian. What pattern rifle are you building? The DPMS-pattern PMags are VERY good. I'm very happy with the Rock River polymer FAL mags too. For 5-round and 10-round, I believe your only options right now are steel.
  6. Yeah. But you got that extreme weather survival training and shite.
  7. Ssooo...Mike's getting a bow it looks like.
  8. Is that Tom's 1895?!
  9. So just like they do on TV?
  10. Oh yeah! He DEFINATELY needs this! Stuck in his head all day. <laughs> <lmao>
  11. So there is going to be a HUGE law enforcement only shoot at the end of February, hosted on our range. Today I met with the organizer and one of the sponsors, Blue Rhino Industries. http://www.bluerhinotargets.com/steel_shooting_targets.htm All targets are all AR500...base, stands, target. Cool beyond cool is their Hitman, steel human body. It has separate panels for lower legs, upper legs, lower arms, upper arms, right lung, left lung, heart, and face. The organizers were rather entertaining shooting the Hitman! Very cool stuff!
  12. We're looking at setting up a trust right now (not only firearms). We were looking at a firm in Tucson, recommended by wifey's boss. Then my inlaws needed something done locally, a small change to their trust, and it was like $800. So they contacted a firm in Phoenix. Small change to the trust, $150. It's really all over the place. I'd like to have a good, solid recommendation prior to committing on a law firm.
  13. This had me thinking about that post you did of the dude on the 450hp Hyabusa riding wheelies on the freeway. 450hp and ice tires...
  14. Hunh? If by "couple of years" you mean "nearly a decade ago, Freedom Group bought the Bushmaster name and moved production under the DPMS banner, with a non-competition clause of 5 years to the original Bushmaster owners/factory" then okay. Former Bushmaster = current Windham. Current Bushmaster = DPMS. I was a BIG fan of the former Bushmaster (now Windham) products, probably because my first AR was a '90s Bushmaster Dissy. My second AR was a "Colt green label HBAR match pre-ban", which took a very distant second place to the Bushy in accuracy. Working retail when the big purchase occurred in 2006, Freedom Group placing the Bushmaster label under the DPMS, and Remington labels. There was an immediate drop in QC (as there was with Marlin, H&R 1871, and NEF). Since then, Bushmaster seems to be the "redheaded step-child" of the group. The original group out of Maine were government suppliers for AR platform rifles, along with Colt and FN. That group of experienced machinists, QC personnel, and management are now Windham Weaponry, founded 2011 (exactly 5 years after the non-competition clause ended). IMO, YMMV, etc., etc., etc.

Maybe. Try one on someone else's. We have an extended mag release on a G19 and it is very obnoxious IMO. I would never do it on a concealed carry G19, as it would be digging into my side all day. If this pistol will only be used for competition, it may be worth it. If you're looking to get one because of the $40 price difference between an extended mag release or the ambi mag release, I only have to quote Robocop... "Buy once, cry once!"
  16. <thumbsup> :hethan:
  17. DPMS is the originator of the most copied pattern. The company itself is now owned by Freedom Group/Cerebus, i.e., the Remington umbrella. There are dozens of companies marketing receivers, receiver sets, and complete rifles based upon this pattern. Many are very good, some are dubious. For the price point DPMS makes a good rifle. They also now have their LR-308 G2, which is lighter and better balanced. Lots here are waiting to see how these hold up before committing to the platform. Go to the 308AR Manufacturers forum and you can get a good idea of who makes a good product or not: http://forum.308ar.com/forum/93-308-ar-manufacturers/ You will notice that Armalite, DPMS, and Rock River have their own forums above Manufacturers. Because those are the big three. Spend some time going through them and you will learn more than I can tell you.

Glock perfection strikes again. With the XD series pistols and the FN series pistols, they both have ambidextrous magazine releases. While the grip is a bit fat on any of them for reaching the release with my thumb, I am able to press the ambi-release with my trigger finger on either hand. Can you switch to left handed shooting? Another, simpler option is a Glock ambidextrous magazine release. Cylinder & Slide makes one: http://www.cylinder-slide.com/index.php?app=ccp0&ns=prodshow&ref=CS0328 Not as slick as one designed to be on the pistol but it is an option.
  19. Welcome from AZ! You have three main pattern 308ARs to choose from: Armalite, DPMS, and Rock River. Each have had their quirks. The aftermarket is by far the largest for the DPMS pattern. There is no "mil-spec" with .308s. Either the company has a reputation for quality or they don't (bring up CMMG to Robocop).
  20. Self-imposed that limit on myself and glad I did. My buddy used to be a driving instructor in Europe and feels we should have graduated motocycle licenses, as they do there. 250cc, 500cc, 750cc and higher. Makes sense. I was averaging 150 miles per day in the valley here (250+max). Cars are the enemy...stay away. Ride like everyone who drives is blind...because they are and that's how they drive.
  21. I was just wondering about that the other day...when on their site a chat box popped up, saying "Speak to our expert Chad", with a photo of some pimply faced kid.
  22. Started my girl shooting at 4. Just sayin'.
  23. Nope. State owns the land for multiple ranges, then leases that land to clubs for X-amount per year. When they yank the chain, they yank it HARD. Really glad to be a part of a private club on private property.
  24. "Shall sign"!?!? That ought to proove to be a big thorn up Dupnik's arse! I may have to do it now just to irritate him.
