  1. Vltor is USA made...less than a mile from my house. Vltor is a subsidary of Abrams Airborn...I used to work in the CNC punch shop.
  2. This was interesting, even if the commentary was lacking:
  3. Sweet! Glad to know those functions are on the phone. Did you recover the bullet? Got pics?
  4. Sweet! That makes me glad I didn't run out and purchase one when I first saw Tom's. <laughs>
  5. Thanks brother blue! The batteries initially installed didn't last very long. Put in some Energizer AA. Those died soon. Then put in some Duracell, with some spares in the rifle case. Been going for a year now. The key is to carry spare batteries, then you'll never need them.
  6. I got the GG&G QD for both and their lens cover/sunshade on Liberty's 512. Need to get that cover for the other one.
  7. All the rifle bullets I've weighed have had weight variances like that. Got some .357 slugs that were sold as 158gr JSP. They weighed anywhere from 155gr up to 162gr. Quite a spread.
  8. Chief Supply had them at 25% off, which is when I got my second Eotech 512. Ended up being $334 with shipping. But it took 4 months to ship.
  9. Nice looking pack, Ed!
  10. Alright...it's been 7 months since I bought the FNS-9. Out of the box I really liked it. Wonderful size, great ergonomics. Went with the smooth-side (no ambi thumb safeties) and the 4" barrel. These come with three 17-round magazines and a cheap plastic case, also two backstraps--thin and thick. Checkering is nice and sharp. The flat and wide trigger made the heavy (maybe 6.5lbs) trigger seem easier. It is also hinged in the center, ala M&P pistols, rather than the Glock pivoting trigger block method. One of my first complaints was the sights. The rear notch is narrow and the front blade is wide, with an extra FAT white dot up front. Combined with the heavy trigger, it made for a hard time at 100 yards on the steel. Another is there are a couple of parts in the striker assembly, rather than one solid striker like on the XD/XDM pistols. A judgement on durability will have to wait. Most of my pistols are used by students, who run thousands of rounds of ammo through them. I shoot them new and get an impression. I shoot them a few months later and get a different impression. Not so with the FNS-9. Only two students shot this pistol, no more than a couple of magazines each. So the break-in was all me, Coy, and Kelly (you Tucson shooters have met them). It was having some issues with some powder-puff reloads (125gr RNL over 3gr of W321) with fully cycling and ejection. All the ammo I'm sure. Finally decided to use up the few hundred rounds left of that ammo can...and I could feel the pistol settle in to ssmmoootthhh! Literally...over like 3 or 4 shots in one magazine. The trigger lightened up a couple of pounds, which makes it seem as though the sights aren't as wonky as first thought. Kelly and I tried it out at 100 yards again, both of us giving windchimes a run for their money. Damn I love this pistol! 11. To be continued?! Bait and switch! Bait and switch!
  12. Rene! Back me up here bro! http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=465104740
  13. <lmao> <laughs>
  14. /\/\/\/\ That's what Blackhills Ammunition claims gives their remanufactured ammo consistent accuracy...each powder load is dropped in three stages.
  15. Cool brother! I like the camming system better, although for those people that remove and replace accessories constantly it may wear a bit more.
  16. Yup. Our group had a training recently. One guy was talking about the armor he wasn't wearing and was asked "Where is your armor?" He said "In my truck...it's unconfortable." So is a bullet.
  17. And the kit is $180?!
  18. Dude at our range has one. AWESOME little cartridge!
  19. Like my buddy says "I used to chase exact bullet weights, identical brass, primer pocket uniformity...until I realized I was the biggest variable in all of it. Now I load ammo and shoot." This guy routinely shoots 1/2MOA at 100 yards with his Marlin 336 in .30-30 and big flat JSP ammo. Another dude from MO forum loads HPBT "one at a time" loads for .30-30 and shoots 2 liter bottles at 600 yards. Like Tom said, work on personal skill first.
  20. lol Shite...have 2003 on the brain.
  21. Welcome from AZ!
  22. I was thinking he blasted the other direction. Guess it just Depends.
  23. Oh I know all that. But it is where the term "bullseye 1911" came from. Not sure why RRA is dredging it up.
  24. Skinny-ish. <laughs>
