  1. "...before any purest panties get wadded..." <thumbsup> It's my gun to do with what I will. If I had the money in my fist, I would've bought that one off Colt 100 Year Anniversary 1911 with the custom serial of "1911Colt2011", then posted a video of me on youtube shooting it. Talk about wadded panties. Jon
  2. My go-to folder is a Mauser, two-blades, cork screw, awl, and multi-function tool. Carry two fixed blades in rotation. One is a cheapy Winchester branded with a 3 3/4" blade. The other is a Cold Steel with a tanto style blade, about 6" long. Jon
  3. Krylon doesn't cook off a 10/22. ;D Someone used to run ads showing troops painting their rifles out in the desert...if it is good enough for them, it's good enough for me. Jon
  4. Yes, please do explain this ghost loading! Is that like ghost turds? That Tri Star has the 24" barrel and came with the extra-full turkey choke. I forget where but was able to pickup a full set of Benelli/Beretta extended chokes on clearance for $19.99! Ka-CHING! At first it didn't do so well with light loads, every third or fifth one would hangup on ejection. Now it hums right along...definately one of the best bargains in shotguns right now. Pulled the plug out, mag now holds 5-rounds, one in the tube. Something I haven't tried is feeding it directly from my palm. An old Red Beret told me he learned from a SEAL that Remmy 1100s will feed from the shooters hand, great trick in a firefight he said. I haven't tried it with a Remmy 1100 either. Jon
  5. Due to lack of decent planning and people going on vacations, MSC is rescheduling this event. The new date is TBA but I will post it asap. Jon
  6. 98, I've been looking at getting one of those 930 SPXs! Is yours a special 10-shot? Don't have pics right now but I have my Grandfather's Western Field 410 bolt-action, a Mossberg Intl SA-20 Bantam (for students mostly), and a TriStar NWTF Viper I picked up for $250 NIB. Check out the review of the Viper semi-auto on Gunblast in their archives: http://www.gunblast.com/TriStar.htm Jon
  7. Oh I've got bullets AND beans. Around here, we're not just fans of gas-guns...we're fans of gas! <lmao> My goal is preferably to be several hundred yards at a minimum away from zombies. Jon
  8. I have to admit that an SBR based on an AR platform, with a detachable magazine, makes more sense than many of the other ones I've seen. Jon
  9. I experimented with the barreled action on the girl's 10/22. She wanted it a flat olive drab (of the choices I gave her). Worked okay...there are a couple of spots on the barrel where the paint didn't stick too well. I'd imagine the rough surface of the Operator would grip paint well! <thumbsup> Jon
  10. I don't get the whole want/need for an SBR but I don't like ding-dongs at BATFE making up rules as they go along. 308AR is head, shoulders, torso, and upper legs above ARF. I went there a couple of times. Trying to get information is like forcing your foot into a yard square cube of red clay, getting your foot and ankle wedged in, then realizing it is dog crap and not red clay. It surprises me to no end that they have tens of thousands of members. Jon
  11. Cool madhouse! I've been here mostly: http://hamuniverse.com/ I've already been pricing mobile units. They are maybe 25% more than a comparable CB radio. When everything else fails, you can still use radios. Had a CB for a bit...not much fun talking to no one. <laughs> I'd like to work my way up to the highest level of license. Jon
  12. http://www.wwnytv.com/news/local/Sen-Gillibrand-Backs-Bill-to-Battle-Illegal-Gun-Sales-134996948.html#commentform I wonder if Schumer is trying to keep his name off this one. Jon
  13. Any ham radio operators here? Been thinking about getting one and a license. Jon
  14. I haven't weighed my Operator but it has to be around 11 pounds. Been swinging it around when no one else is home, it is building up muscles I forgot I had. Also just hold it up in a shooting position to work those muscles too. Jon
  15. Ssooo...his wood is growing on you? <laughs> <lmao> Jon
  16. Oh man! Just got done looking at POF USA's .308s...American Made, Arizona Made! They look kinda pricey though. Jon
  17. That is nice! Hope you bring it along when we shoot... Jon
  18. Welcome DJPhallic! Cheapest fix is a couple of 30# dumbells. <thumbsup> Carried while you're hiking. Jon
  19. Thanks, Dustin! Jon
  20. Howdy Striperri! You'll have fun here, lots of good information. Someone will be along shortly to answer your questions. I'm just here for the popcorn. <munch> Jon
  21. Howdy Shellslinger! Glad you made it! Nothing wrong with shotguns. I have one myself. Jon
  22. Hola Adrian! I'm on the opposite corner, here in AZ. Welcome! Jon
  23. Just a wild butt guess, probably some sort of legislation implemented by New Jersey or California...or one of the other "Ve vill protect you" states. Jon
  24. The tritium will fade but these are dual-powered, the second being a fiberoptic light gathering feature. If you look at the eyepiece, there is a dial shield that allows the user to adjust the brightness of the fiberoptic, by exposing more or less or none of it to the ambient light around you. In AZ tritium is a no-no for hunting. Jon
  25. Rough and supported is one thing but the Hollywood wrist snaps are really hard on the crane/yoke. Watch your 625 shooter carefully...I'd be willing to bet on opening and closing, his fingers are wrapping around the action. You may need to film it and watch in slow motion. <lmao> Search Jerry Miculek on Youtube. There is a clip of him shooting his 625 where he blasts all six plates, unloads, reloads, then blasts all six plates AGAIN in like 2.1 seconds. He says he likes the revolver because he can pull the trigger and doesn't have to wait for the slide to cycle back and forth. Practice with speedloaders and you can get fast. Practice with moonclips and you can get mongo fast. And remember...they make moonclips now for most any major revolver, and you can have the cylinders machined to take singles or moonclips. If you are looking at a S&W 627 8-shot you are on par with a 1911 firepower wise. Jon
