To be honest, I was pretty damn surprised when I heard that ding myself!

She does, but she really good natured about the whole thing. She's an awesome lady!

When I saw this pic I thought the label said 'I Can Brew For MILF"!
-
Bring it to the fall shoot and I'll tune it up for you!

I got to watch these come down at the old Kennicott Mine smelter in Hurley NM several years ago! They were an Icon in the area for decades.

You're paying for a LOT of fluff there! I can build one that will shoot every bit as good for $1500 easily! My competition gun; My son's competition gun;

I'll take a stack of parts books over that fukin computer any day! I worked at the Car Quest here for a couple of years and we had two local guys that restored old tractors. They wouldn't talk to anyone else there but me, they brought in the old part they needed to replace and I would find it for them. None of that schit was in the computer! I learned parts books back in the 70's when I was a mechanic (NOT a service tech!) at a Chevrolet dealership. The parts guys loved me because if they were busy I'd go behind the counter and look up my own parts instead of waiting and twiddling my thumbs. I worked on a commission, didn't have time to stand around!

One of the Border Patrol Agents that works with my son at he BP station here told me his wife has a record in college weight lifting that still stands. He said (seriously) there's a plaque at the Nebraska college they both went to that names her as record holder for the biggest snatch in Nebraska college history!

I would love to get my hands on a couple more of those Norinco 1911's! Those were damn good pistols for the money! My older son still has the one I bought and customized just to see how good they were. Wish I had it back! -
Great article! Back in my early days I lived close to the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant (KAAP) and had friends that worked there. They made ammo a little bit bigger than what any of us here shoot though!😲

That looks like something my son would do! I had a dorm refrigerator that had quit working and before I could take it to the dump he was putting fireworks mortars inside with the door facing up and sitting on the door when they went off!🤕

Well guys, bad news is no one here won the S&W 9mm. Good news is you can try for the very same gun next year!😀 One of the Choir Boys won the pistol but right after he won it things got a little crazy! One of our local businessmen, who is a BIG supporter of this run offered the winner $500 cash for the gun and said he would donate the gun back to the club IF the winner would donate the $500 back to the club also! Our member took him up on the offer and we got the gun back to raffle next year AND five crisp, new Benjamins! Next year we will be doing 2 guns, but we aren't sure what the second gun will be yet. A huge thank thank you to all of you who entered and supported this! You guys are the best!

Tom, you know as well as I do how much of a soft touch I am for that kid, that'll never happen!☹️

Why did Law Enforcement carry wheel guns instead of 1911s?
392heminut replied to JF89's topic in Handguns
Feedramp angle had a bit to do with it but it was a lot more the bevel at the base of the barrel leading into the chamber. When they figured out that that bevel needed a lot of modification from milspec to feed hollowpoints a lot of 1911 barrels were fukkered up and became dangerous to even shoot from gun hack mods. A lot of problems with cases blowing out and sometimes literally blowing the magazines out of the gun and/or breaking the grips! NOT cool! One of the biggest advancements was Bill Wilson and Jim Clark developing ramped 1911 barrels. HUGE game changer there, those things solved a lot of problems! -

Make it a good Irish whiskey and you're on! Had to lay off beer (at least for a while😉) because of problems with my esophagus, but I HAVE lost 35 lbs. since I did! -

They do now, that wasn't the case back in the 80's and earlier. It wasn't until IPSC became a big thing (late 80's) that gunsmiths started figuring out how to make them reliable with non ball ammo. It took several more years before the manufacturers started getting on board. Kimber was a game changer when they came out with their 1911! -

I carried a 1911 most of my career, up to the point when we got a chief that decided he would buy guns for the whole department and issue everyone the same gun. Back when I started in 1980 1911's didn't have the best reputation for reliability unless you stuck with ball ammo. That's all the military used so it was a non-issue for them. The barrels back then weren't designed to handle hollowpoints and there were a lot more barrels ruined by hack gunsmiths trying to make them work with hollowpoints than there were successful throat jobs! I learned the proper way to throat a 1911 barrel and my 1911 ran flawlessly with the CCI 200 gr. hollowpoints that we used to refer to as 'flying ashtrays because they were so blunt and the hollowpoint cavity was so big. A stock 1911 barrel would puke on them every time but I put thousands of them through mine without a hickup. A stock 1911 with hollowpoint bullets was a disaster waiting to happen back in those days and that's a big reason why most cops carried wheelguns. Another reason was that a lot of cops weren't 'gun' guys and they were terrible about keeping their guns clean and in good shape and the wheelgun was much more forgiving of this lackadaisical gun maintenance. I could tell you some horror stories about some of the nasty schit I saw on officers' Sam Brownes back then! I was active (and our department firearms instructor) all through the period of law enforcement transitioning from revolvers to semi-autos and could go into detail about a lot of what transpired during that time, what had to happen and what the firearms manufacturers had to do to make that transition happen but I'm a two finger typer and I don't want to go into all that plus it would probably bore the crap out of a lot of folks. Just suffice to say it wasn't something that happened overnight and there was a LOT of trial and error involved! -

Those S&W 45 ACP revolvers weren't accurate for a reason. S&W used 45 Colt bored barrels to build them. The 45 Colt used a .454 bore and 45 ACP was .451. the bullets were a bit smaller than the barrel they were going through, not the best thing for accuracy! -
So, I got my son Josh a Matrix 308 upper and lower back when Chris was blowing them out to us. I've financed enough schit for this kid as it is so I made him pay me back for the cost of them. I told him he was gonna have to build the damn thing, I wasn't gonna do it! Well, long story short, you fukkers keep putting up sales that are too good to pass up and now this build has a Wilson BCG, Faxon barrel and NOW a damn Bill Wilson handguard, all outta my pocket! Oh, and I have a Larue trigger sitting on the bench that will probably end up in it too! WTF!!!!!!!!
-
That's the kind of schit that happens when you hang out here! You KNOW that!

Got one from Matt. Thanks for the offer Pat, I do appreciate it. That camo stock is pretty cool!
