Simple fix with a single spring when the spring goes in the back of the reciever; cut a piece of coat hanger wire (diameter is exactly what's needed!) a little longer than .70 and dress the ends square on a grinder or with a file to .70 (it's not critical, can be a few thou more or less) and put it in behind the spring. Done deal!

Yup, back in the day I had a 70 Cuda 340 4spd. I sold it to pay bills when we were raising 5 kids (blended family). I had a friend give me a couple of Chrysler 392 Hemis several years ago and I ended up buying another 70 Cuda and put one of them in it after rebuilding it. Later on I pulled the 392 and sold it to a friend of mine who put it in a 35 Dodge sedan street rod he built. I swapped in a late model 5.7 Hemi. Little bastard is a screamer! My wife had a 73 Duster with a 318 when we met. That was a neat little car, wish we hadn't gotten rid of it.

I quit putting forward assists in any of my builds, AR15 or AR308! The lack of a forward assist hasn't bit me on the azz yet! I have two sons who have been in the Marines. The older one from 1995 to 1999 and he says they had to qual with iron sights. The younger one was in from 2012 to 2016 and he says nobody qualed with iron sights, everything was done with ACOGs.

The gas system length and the stock system have nothing to do with each other as far as operation. Any gas system length will work with any stock system as long as each is set up properly.

Most US suppressor manufacturers use something like Inconel (same alloy used for the exhaust valves in top fuel engines) for the first baffle because that is the one that is most susceptible to erosion from the hot gases. That's one of the reasons suppressors are more expensive in the US. Their reasoning for using a more exotic material (read 'more expensive') is sound though. Since we have to pay a $200 extortion fee to the Feds on top of the cost of the suppressor and it's not transferable we expect more out of our suppressors than shooters in other countries do, and the manufacturers do what they can to make them last as long as possible.
