Yup, she's a keeper! I'm blessed too, I told my wife a couple of weeks ago that I would like to build a .40 S&W AR. She said "Father's Day is coming up, go ahead!"😁

I wonder about the barrel maintaining accuracy after taking that much off of it. It's been said that removing material can have an effect on the internal stresses of a barrel. I have no idea if that's true or not. My DPMS LR308 has a heavy barrel on it and it was a straight cut at the muzzle, no threads. It's diameter behind the gas block is 1" and it WAS .930 in front of the muzzle. I had a machinist friend of mine cut it down to .750 in front of the gas block and thread the muzzle 5/8-24. I couldn't see any deterioration in the accuracy afterwards but I'm not a good enough rifleman to wring a lot of accuracy from a rifle to start with.

The mainstream media is THE biggest cause of this phenomenon! They have sensationalized this crap so much that it is now the go to method for these azzholes to act out! Seriously! And the mainstream media is instrumental propagating this!

"Some advice I never considered was being sure to never attach a laser sight to your cat’s gat. This will cause them to drop the gun and chase the laser, this will create an unsafe situation all around."

Aaaah, the 'Stumps'! My older son spent most of his 4 year hitch at the Marine air base at Yuma and as hot as it was there, he hated 29 Palms even more! Had to go there for a month each year for training. My youngest was a whole other story, he did his MOS at the stumps and when his 2 years in Okinawa was up he requested to go there. He was born and raised a desert rat and actually liked it there.

Neither of my builds have BHO on the last round so that has not been an issue. The 9mm gun is functioning good but I'll stack some quarters in it and see how it runs though.

Caught this on sale and ordered it and a Sprinco orange spring; http://tacticalsolutionsgroupllc.com/-AR-9-BUFFER-8oz_p_231.html

Tom, the buffers in both of the pistol caliber carbines are 3.25" and 5 ounces. They both have 7" extensions. The buffers seem to be plenty long enough, no evidence of the BCG hitting the lower on either rifle. I had one or two jams with each of the 3 mags I ran through the gun, always a nose up, base down jam. That could be the magazines though. I couldn't get the same mags I use in the 9mm which work great in the 9mm (SGM) and bought some Elite Tactical Systems magazines from Brownells. I've seen a guy have problems with the ETS mags in 9mm which is why I suspect them. I'm not going to condemn the mags though until I've gotten a couple hundreds rounds through the gun. I've only put 90 through it so far.

The No Prep Kings came to Deming and spanked the local racers BIG time! Walked away with over $8k of the locals' money! It was great! I've been into dragracing ever since I got my first driver's license and these local guys have never impressed me. The only thing they do that impresses me is spend a lot of money on high dollar parts and break the schit out of them!

What do you have on order or in the mail? Part 2

I've had a Larue MBT sitting on the bench for a while now and thought to myself the other day "I should probably have a second one just in case so I ordered another one. The day after I was poking around in the gun safe and lo and behold, I HAVE a second MBT lying in there! Oh well, have 3 MBT's lying around is a good thing!is a good thing. -
So, I got the .40 S&W carbine built and took it to the range over the weekend. It's got a 16" barrel and uses Glock mags. (No pictures yet) It's got the PAW lower with their 9mm buffer and spring in it. Damn thing has a pretty good kick and flings the brass a good 20' at about 4:00 o'clock! I'm thinking about dropping a Sprinco orange spring in there to tame it down and then maybe experimenting some with a heavier buffer. @98Z5V, what's your thoughts on that spring in this app? I know you have experience with them.

Brother, I don't know how you know all this schit, you're like an AR encyclopedia!

You ever seen a tank recovery vehicle Ray? If those things could transform they would be able to kick Optimus Prime's AZZ!!!!!

My oldest son HAD a Stag 15 and loved it! When he and his wife divorced he told her she could have one gun out of the gun safe, her choice. He said she took that Stag and swears she did it because she knew it was his favorite! He is on the lookout for another one but they are kind of rare in Juneau Alaska!

Or get a full size truck and use a regular stock!

The only thing I've ever had break in any of my AR's were bolts! I had a DPMS Panther that broke TWO bolts right at the cam pin hole! There was a pic of both bolts on here way back before the server change over, I don't know if they are even around now. I don't know if it's am issue with that gun or not, I sold it and the guy who bought it doesn't shoot it near as much as I used to.

I don't know who's mag that is, but I can tell you WHAT it is! I'm guessing it is limited to 10 rounds? Magazines like that were made during the hi cap magazine ban. The extra rib in the middle stops the follower at a certain capacity (usually 10 rounds) and the cut in the mag body is there to keep someone from grinding out the extra rib that limits capacity. You can't see it in the picture very well, but the cut in the mag body doesn't continue through that extra rib. If you grind out the extra rib the mag falls apart! That thing is a relic from the 10 year hicap magazine ban! My oldest son got an STI 2011 during that time and the 10 round mag that came with it had the same kind of cut. He got someone in the welding shop at Ft. Bliss to weld up the cut and then gave it to me to smooth out the welds inside the mag tube and grind out the extra rib. I filed and sanded on that SOB for a month to get it cleaned up enough for the thing to function in a hicap capacity! The guy who welded it was NOT an accomplished welder! I got that thing to function though, not so much that he needed it, but more to thumb my nose at the ban and those azzholes who put it in place! Since I was a cop I had no problem acquiring hicap mags.

I've been using Dillon case lube for years; https://www.dillonprecision.com/dillon-synthetic-case-lube-8oz-bottle_8_8_26518.html Never had a problem with it and it's a LOT less messy than using case lube pads!

I guess Anderson barrels are hit or miss! I got a 16" 308 barrel from them and it wouldn't shoot worth a crap! The chamber was tight too. A gunsmith buddy of mine had a chamber reamer and worked on it. He told me it was really tight and the leade was really short too. I replaced it with a Faxon and haven't tried it since he reworked the chamber but I'm not holding my breath.

TRUTH!

I've run across a few of these types!

Interesting post! I'm following this one closely. I just got my .40 carbine put together (THANKS Albroswift!) but haven't been able to try it out yet. The wife had some surgery and I'm stuck at home taking care of her. Maybe this weekend!

I do too! I bought my diesel after the prices flip flopped but pulling that 40' 5th wheel diesel is the only way to go! Diesel here hasn't been too bad though, staying below $3 but a guy at the pumps the other day told me it's well over $4 a gallon in California! He also said that unleaded IS more than diesel in Cali right now. Just another reason for me to stay out of that fucked up state! I put a 35 gallon auxiliary tank in my truck so I could actually sneak in and visit Dirk and get back out without having to fuel up in Cali!
