  1. More Clint Smith; "The handgun would not be my choice of weapon if I knew I was going to a fight. ...I'd choose a rifle, a shotgun, an RPG or an atomic bomb instead." "Make your attacker advance through a wall of bullets. I may get killed with my own gun, but he's gonna have to beat me to death with it, cause it's gonna be empty." "If you carry a gun, people will call you paranoid. That's ridiculous. If I have a gun, what in the hell do I have to be paranoid for." "If you're not shootin', you should be loadin'. If you're not loadin, you should be movin', if you're not movin', someone's gonna cut your head off and put it on a stick."
  2. Who said we would be going straight to Arizona? I know a great place for a layover between El Paso and Phoenix! Dammit! I hate that we don't have the party dude with the beer mug emoticon anymore! Rene, I can get to Tom's in about 4&1/2 hours if the friggin wind isn't trying to put you in the ditch! (Not usually a problem in the fall.)

    Good cops

Haha!!! My son Josh got into a game of tackle football at a local park back in his highschool days (no pads of course). The game ended when he broke another player's collarbone on a tackle. My wife and I were sitting on a bench watching the game and when the kid went down my wife heard it snap! That wasn't the first one though, he broke his best friend's arm playing tackle football in my older son's back yard when they were freshmen!
  4. The one Tom posted of the whale flipping over onto the rowboat is photoshopped too. I've seen it posted elsewhere on the 'net, with a statement that it was.

    Good cops

    Without pads, right?
  6. I'm not really at an advantage with the long legs, Having to get my fat azz (not to mention the bad knees) up out of that chair was a slow process! BTW, I'm not a former IPSC shooter, I'm still active to certain extent. Just shot a match in El Paso today. Justice Brothers Matt is a badazz shooter! That guy could hold his own with any of the IPSC guys I shoot with!
  7. Rene, El Paso is 1&1/2 hours from my place and Southwest flies in and out of there. Just an option.
  8. Hey guys, doesn't Mike's posting of this video fall under 'the rule'?
  9. If you know somebody who can sew it's pretty easy to make a new carrier using the old one as a pattern. The wife of one of the guys I worked with made him a new one once. She made it out of blue cloth and put a Superman emblem iron on on it. Real comedian that gal!
  10. My wife calls that sundowner's syndrome, it's a symptom of Alzheimer's!!!
  11. Or just put a gas block on backwards and upright!
  12. Pretty common here in the spring Shepp, it's because of the dust, not the wind velocities.
  13. Kevlar is a mutherfukker to cut! I had some samples I got from Second Chance years ago and had the bright idea to use some to repair the hole in a fiberglass saddlebag since it does look a lot like fiberglass cloth only yellow instead of white. I cut it with my wife's EMT scissors (those things will cut a penny in half!) but it was tough going and that was just cutting a single layer! The edges frayed quite a bit too. Most ballistic pads have 15-20 layers and I'll guarandamntee you that you won't cut that many layers all together with any scissors! Greg was 100% spot on about the stuff deteriorating over time. I bought my first ballistic vest out of my own pocket when I first started the PD because they didn't supply them. It was a Second chance and was rated for 357 Magnum. Seven years later the department bought vests for everyone and I decided to do a little research on the old one. I took it to the range and shot it with a 158 grn. 357 Magnum JHP and it went right through the front panel! I took it back and showed the Chief and after that out vests got changed out every 5 years as per the manufacturer's suggestions.
  14. This is starting out pretty good! For those who don't already know, I was fighting nasty crosswinds on I-10 trying to get to Maricopa while all this was going on. Halfway there my wife calls and tells me I got out just in time, they shut the interstate down after I left!
  15. I hadn't got that far down the homepage, I'm old and slow Shepp!
  16. This needs to be in the For Sale section. Maybe the Mods can move it for you.
  17. BTW, I missed the first turn on the way out and didn't figure it out until the road dwindled down to two ruts! I couldn't find a place to turn around and finally said fukkit! I shoved that Ram diesel into 4 wheel drive and plowed through the mesquites with that 20 foot toy hauler. That is one pullin sumbitch!
  18. Bwahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. I agree, I would NOT pay what those things are bringing now! My first Python (a blued 4") cost me $350 back in 1980 when I first started with the PD here! I ordered it from a distributor in Shotgun News and had it shipped to my Lieutenant, who had an FFL. I let that one get away. A local guy I know has it but he won't part with it!
  20. Sisco, to be perfectly honest, I haven't had any trigger time with a lot of the 1911 stuff out there now. Bastages on this forum have got my head all into the AR platform and I've been neglecting the 1911's! I've read a LOT of good comments on the Ruger 1911's and would not hesitate to put one in my safe. If I was walking into a gunshop today to buy a 1911 it would probably be a Ruger, second choice would be a Springfield Armory, that Range Officer looks like a pretty good gun for the money!
  21. Crazy fukkers! And they were making hits on a regular basis too! I'm not even in the same neighborhood with Matt & Tom when it comes to that long range schit!
  22. Got 7 mpg in the diesel going over there in that wind! I got 11 going back!
  23. They were considering it..................until they saw that AR on Tom's chest and realized just how stupid it would be!
  24. "Asked about the incident, Sheriff Mike Blakely said, " 'It' happens," according to the news release." Yes it does! One of my officers arrested a 300+ pound woman (real trailer trash) and had a female officer do a search in the holding area. She came out with a schit covered 25 auto in her rubber gloved hand! She was dealing with it okay but my male officer (the arresting officer) ran to the restroom and puked in the toilet.
  25. The last Colt firearm I bought was my Anaconda back when they first came out. I've got my Anaconda and Python and have no urge to buy another Colt! There are a lot better 1911's out there than the overpriced Colt's.
