  1. Truly the historical version of a warrior poet, agree or not he is worth listening too, seems to hold to his principals.
  2. https://www.aeroprecisionusa.com/m5-ar308/upper-receivers/complete-uppers I don't know the details on the laws, just see Pre-ban stuff always selling big, sounds like your old state had that angle figured out.
  3. Might add a little hassle but but a pre-ban receiver like that might pull in some extra money to someone that still lives one of those places, could sell it on gunbroker and get enough to buy an Aero receiver set, maybe two if the right bidders see it. you would also be doing your part providing a chance for someone to arm themselves with a proper rifle where they live. But otherwise here's an Aero link; https://www.aeroprecisionusa.com/m5-ar308/upper-receivers/stripped-uppers
  4. You can do that? I guess for every gun I bought someone had to sell it so it can't be a death penalty, instead of hail mary's I think you should have to buy a gun, a real nice one.
  5. And possibly learn safety and respect for guns with that first BB gun. I don't remember the name of the study but it was rock solid proof that firearms education lowers the rate of firearms deaths, all firearms deaths across the board, then again that requires a parent to oversee the child, might be too late for a place like nyc though, probably nobody smart enough to play with a BB gun left there.
  6. I've lapped both before and after Cerakote, no difference.
  7. I'd say leave it alone, where the brass lands isn't a problem, it's a diagnostic to help solve problems when they arise but if all is well shoot the schit out of it.
  8. No P mags on this one but $69.99 shipped to your door is pretty reasonable for what it is. https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-5-56-nitride-mpi-full-auto-bolt-carrier-group-516446953.html
  9. I was impressed with Odin works lightweight aluminum stuff, not so much with the barrel nut but the rail is light and stiff, I wanted carbon fiber to match a barrel but the price vs. performance changed my mind.
  10. At least you got something built, I'm so slow this is technically a necro post
  11. Still doesn't look like much but it's ready to fire. I'll be following their break in instructions so it might be month before I get all that cleaning done. Real curios to see how that odd pattern in the rifling works out for copper buildup. That Odin Works rail was a pain, I ended up jamming a dowel along side the alignment pin for the gas tube in order to hold as far as possible, when you torque the nut it wants to move some, my alignment isn't as perfect as I would like but I had to say enough for fear of wearing out threads trying for perfect, got this to look forward to on my 260 build, I do really like the feel of the rail though, very light but remarkably stiff for what you see. Gotta decide on an optic, this is too much money but what I'm looking for size/performance wise, I need another stimulus https://www.primaryarms.com/primary-arms-compact-plx-1-8x24mm-ffp-rifle-scope-illuminated-acss-raptor-m8-556-308-reticle
  12. Sorry for your loss Brother.
  13. Several members here have built DI guns on those 12.5 inch Sig barrels with good success, search Sig and 12.5 and you should find lots of reading on the topic. I have a P716 and it's a jam-o-matic anchor. I have not found any advantage for the Sig piston over using the same barrel in a DI build, suppressed or not. Look at one of the switch type gas blocks, they would simplify the gas setting like you are looking for. I can't answer on the other piston set-ups, never really been an external piston guy. https://www.primaryarms.com/seekins-precision-select-adjustable-gas-block-875in
  14. Welcome from Iowa! The Armalite buffer kit is the best route, IMHO. As stated above, you need a 5.4ish oz buffer. I tend to use new Armalite or Tubbs flat wire springs just because I've never seen or heard of a problem with them. @98Z5V knows the math on those port sizes, I would guess you need to go up a bit with the 24 inch but real curious to see what the math would say.
  15. Have you thought of just building another upper? The cost will not be that much different by the time you swap out parts.
  16. That would be the spoon I tried, no go on Magpul.
  17. Fulton sells the parts to mount the bolt catch, I assume theirs fits anyways. https://www.fulton-armory.com/bolt-catch-screw-and-plate-for-far-308.aspx The bolt catch they sell for it; https://www.fulton-armory.com/boltcatchtitanheavyduty.aspx
  18. None of mine fit the Pmags I have, have some clips as they do work on my AR-10 B model.
  19. God damn click bait..........
  20. Double feed like two from the mag at once? or empty brass and a live one? A little more detail on the malfunction might help. Could be the gas system has taken a seal and is now a bit over-gassed when combined with the break in, just a wild guess there. Inspect all the parts for any un usual wear or damage for a start.
  21. Why not, different lead than a battery cable clamp and terminal?
  22. I don't know a thing about the side charger stuff but ran into something very similar when I tried to get a bolt catch from Ruger since their receiver matched my Matrix, no dice, serial number or no catch, the ill fitting catch I used did break leading to a thread here with lots of measurements on lots of different bolt catches, if you can figure out what size you're looking for then you might find something there.
