Let the build begin!

I love it, square bullets for mooselimbs

That article is what came to my mind when you mentioned how much movement the shell holder had. Never would have guessed it could make that much difference though.

Did you try the pork belly sandwich while they had it? A 4"x4"x1" chunk of smoked pork belly on a bun, artery clogging bliss -

Generally a lack of posts on a specific product like that is a good sign they are backing up the claim. Contact Chris Reidemen at Live Free Armory, he builds and sells a lot of 308's using BA barrels and advertises the 1 MOA claim on his rifles. http://www.livefreearmory.com/ -
What do you have on order or in the mail? Part 2
jtallen83 replied to imschur's topic in General Discussion
Doubt it, he was just clearing out parts and pieces, not a big seller, just part time with very few feedback. He didn't understand the seller settings and had lots of blocks placed so many people couldn't bid on his stuff. -

I know ebay is a dirty word around here but I manage to get some real good deals there. Just got this MI QD swivel for $1 shipped to my mailbox. Cost the guy $2.32 to ship the thing, I almost feel guilty.....almost! -
and since we are on the subject of snow plowing, Shepp, could you pop over and do my driveway??? Only 6 inches but it's that evil heavy, sticky stuff!

Which generation PA10 is it? What trigger, PSA parts kit trigger? Might be handy to post a few pictures of the trigger at the different stages.
-
Welcome from Iowa! First what exact name brand did you build? Not sure I follow what you mean by engaging the trigger? Is the bolt locked back or are you cycling the action? Watch this video and see what yours is doing differently;

I like the "finer adjustment" but they don't go into how many turns you get on the screw, just six clicks per rotation. Wonder how this compares to SLR's 15 position adjustment? Not sure I see the side adjustment as "easy access", that's only true if your rail doesn't get in the way. I don't care for peeking down the muzzle of my rifle trying to hit the hole on my lightweight build but I'd never get to it if it were on the side, unless I drilled a hole. If I do another build with pinned and welded muzzle device this would be the block for me without a doubt!

Bobro Low-Rider BUIS, That's Nice!
jtallen83 replied to jtallen83's topic in Optics & Mounts, BUIS,Sights
This set will reside on my Matrix build, a 16 inch rifle gas 308. They are 1.7 oz for the set, made of 6061 aluminium and mil-spec anodized. I got this set on a popular auction site for $158 shipped, same seller has them on a buy it now for $209. Early versions of this had a locking pin and button like shown on the SWFA site but newer versions are like mine with just a detent. One of the few that have them in stock is Brownells at $199.99; http://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/sights/sight-sets/lowrider-buis-sights-prod80586.aspx -
Finally came up with a set of Bobro Low-Rider BUIS and got them installed and zeroed. Pretty slick work, well made with a nice finish and featherweight to boot. They sit a hair over .2 inch above the rail when stowed and are virtually snag free. They don't lock up or down just use a detent to snap in place, very easy to flip them up or down, with only a hinge on one side it may be a good thing they do not have a lock as this way they can fold instead of bend when they get banged on. Zeroing was real easy, front sight uses a chunk of plastic you stick on the post and turn, no clicks or stops. Once you have it where you want there is a set screw that locks it in place. The rear windage uses a hex key to adjust, again no clicks just a turn on the screw and it glides over. Then another set screw locks it in place. The window is midway in size between the normal long and short range peeps. I was a bit concerned about the sight picture but turned out I really liked it, found it easy to naturally center the post. For me they worked a lot like pistol sights, the rear was a bit blurry and the front post nice and crisp. Their low profile is wasted on the present rig but I have plans for a much larger scope on this rifle that should just clear them.

Brother-in-law just spent $8000 replacing the transmission in his souped up Dodge Ram when it went out on the interstate in Boston, he's gonna love these memes!

Unless you get the LPK without FCG.

Welcome from Iowa!
-
I know in general terms but the specifics are still a bit fuzzy...a lightweight 6.5 creedmoor....maybe a .204 ruger, so many options!
-
As soon as I can un-depress the bank account I'll have to pick one of them to make happy
-
Glad to hear it is working out. Looks like all PSA parts makes for a good rifle, just wonder what will happen when folks start trying to mix things up a bit????

It was fun doing a twenty round mag dump without a hitch! It's always fun to learn as well. I now know this rifle pistol better than any other I own now. I can only think of a couple things I didn't have apart, the gas key off the carrier and the weights out of the buffer. Even had the detent out of the SI dust cover for cerakote. Now I'm sitting here looking at extra 308 and 5.56 BCG's and wondering what next.................

Feels more like cursed than kinged...........but as long as it keeps functioning I'll soon forget the ten trips to the range and hours spent assembling and disassembling.
-
Welcome from Iowa Ken! As far as learning what fits what my first suggestion would be to spend a bit of time searching and reading here, lots of info stored here.
-
Got it! .0935 #42 bit finally got it to function with the 200 grain subs. It ran on the UMC 220 grain subs at .089 but still wouldn't lock back or load the next round with the 200's or the 208's so I went another size up. This is with the SLR gas block wide open so now I can tune the block down for everything else I need it to do. The NFA tracker website predicts I will have my first stamp show up mid January, hope congress will drop silencers from the NFA about then, and give me a tax credit for the three stamps I applied for!

Caught that, he doesn't get near as upset as he used to. The way he talks he single handedly keeps the commodity price of titanium inflated from his prolific use. Sooner or later he will have to claim a 4 pounder just to keep his ego stroked. Funny part is he thinks everyone else takes him serious
