  1. ATF rule 2004-5 " ATF and its predecessor agency, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), have historically held that the original, crank-operated Gatling Gun, and replicas thereof, are not automatic firearms or machineguns as defined. See Rev. Rul. 55-528, 1955-2 C.B. 482. The original Gatling Gun is a rapid-firing, hand-operated weapon. The rate of fire is regulated by the rapidity of the hand cranking movement, manually controlled by the operator. It is not a "machinegun" as that term is defined in 26 U.S.C. 5845(b) because it is not a weapon that fires automatically." No hand crank, instant felon. This is why that funky little crank that clamps on your trigger guard is ok with the ATF, although many states such as Iowa have banned that even.
  2. Never noticed the 3x compact version before. That is a featherweight at under 8 oz. To bad you have to pay so much for every ounce that isn't there!
  3. It is new manufacture; http://www.colt.com/Catalog/Special-Editions/1877-Bulldog-Gatling-Gun
  4. Vortex is a great option, hard to beat their customer service and if you don't like a product they have a great resale value.
  5. The carry handle models are 9.9 oz. If you want a flat top adapter, dust covers, and BUIS it will be just shy of 15 oz but that ain't bad for a mini tank. https://www.trijicon.com/na_en/products/product3.php?pid=TA01NSN
  6. Best picture I have with me, I'll try to get a good close up when I get home for Christmas. At the point this was taken the rifle would have had near 1,000 rounds, it has better than 3,000 now but looks the same.
  7. Love my Fitting Pin tool, a finger saver for sure!
  8. I got to handle one at the LGS last time I was home, on the higher end of the fit and finish scale but didn't see anything that made me want one.
  9. Very disappointing to see another AR-10 that looks like that. Mine, made in 2011, is nice and tight but has no issue opening or closing, ArmaLite has let QC slide deep.........
  10. Tubbs finally got the flat wire springs for 300 BO in so I ordered one of those and grabbed a spring for the Matrix 308AR as well. http://www.davidtubb.com/ar15-buffer-spring-stainless http://www.davidtubb.com/ar10-tubb-parts/bufferspring-sr-ar10
  11. My job site is across the bay from NAS Pensacola so besides the Blue Angels practice there is a steady stream of every type of aircraft the Navy flies screaming overhead. Those F-18's really sound off as they head out into the gulf! I spend a lot of time waiting for jets to clear the area so we can hear each other.
  12. I had no use for either until Iowa passed the suppressor law then I had to do a 300 BO build. Now I just have to make it run right!

  14. As long as it wasn't an AR pistol the ATF doesn't care.....
  15. Very cool, give him a salute from me when you see him next!
  16. The whole package directly from KAK is only $95. I prefer it over my Sig brace for the adjustability. In theory the Sig brace is nicer on something with some kick like a .308 pistol because of the softer material and wider contact area..... but then I would never fire an AR pistol from my shoulder so this is just theory. https://www.kakindustry.com/shockwave/shockwave-package-black
  17. I had to double check to make sure but after that it was lesson learned!
  18. Doesn't match my experience, both times I got the clap it was from an ungroomed married women. More than a dozen well groomed strippers and never an issue, go figure.
  19. yep, age appropriate.
