  1. Now I can listen to it without feeling like dirty hippy rubbed off on me...............
  2. It will be for sale soon! It has a very sloppy fit both on the tube and the pin. I had to add grip tape to the butt because it was slicker than snot. They're going to come out with a butt pad soon but unless they solve the wobble issues I won't mess with one again, going back to a Magpul on it soon.
  3. Wish they would give some information on this change in style for the cam pin. I had always thought the POF roller cam was a gimmick but it is starting to seem like there may be some science behind it.....or maybe they just got tired of people calling in asking why they couldn't get the cam pin out of there new rifle. If you've never tried it on a new AR-10 before the change it is a real bear till it breaks in a bit.
  4. The granddaughter would have prefered the my little pony theme but it's actually the wife's rifle and she insisted it match her MK25D. I got some of the ideas from Breaststroker so it truly is a girly gun. ;-)
  5. Hearsay, Give me the the reference to the use of "AR" before ArmaLite.............It's not heavy, it's my rifle ;-)
  6. Give me a reference on that "fact"????????
  7. HELL YEAH! Wife is going to the LGS to find out about trusts and all the other paperwork tomorrow, I just have to figure out what I want first. Hard not to rush but I've waited my lifetime already.
  8. Ordered the d Wilson blem BCG and the master BCG rebuild kit, all for less than most phosphate BCG's alone!
  9. Not sure if Fulton Armory still carries Armalite pattern barrels or not??? Might be worthwhile checking. Have you considered QPQ/Nitride instead of chrome? There is an accuracy edge over chrome and it will give the barrel a black finish. 1-10 twist seems to be the go to for the heavier projectiles. There is starting to be some offerings with 5R rifling but I don't know much about it, X-Caliber was offering it when I ordered last year but said it was only available in 1-7 twist which I thought was real odd for a 308. The 11 degree target crown is also real popular. I used to see Armalite take offs for sale regularly but not so much these days. If I see one I'll be sure to let you know.
  10. I'll have to disagree there, Mr. Westroms ArmaLite did a great deal of refining on the AR-10. The SASS program alone advanced the platform a great deal. Many of their advances were included in the eventual winner from KAC. Where is Mr. Raley when you need him, he could lay out the specifics on this.
  11. I got one ordered tonight along with a master BCG rebuild kit. Figured since I've completed the lightweight carrier build I better get the seed for another build. This schit is better than crack!
  12. Those are the directions for cleaning my 716 piston, wipe off all the lube from the piston system after cleaning otherwise it turns it to sludge or carbon and fouls up the works. Not a direct quote but the general idea....... damned jam-o-matic 716 still won't eject every time.................

    Grilling

Gotta be a "raw butt' joke in there somewhere..............
  14. Put a PA 4-16x scope on the rifle today and got easy 1.5 MOA groups from my local Iowa ranges lousy bench in 30-35 mph winds with Perfecta 55 gr. ammo. I think with better conditions and ammo it will be a 1 MOA rifle.
  15. $24 shipping on 640 rounds direct from MKE. http://zqiammo.com/
  16. Any marks where the carrier enters the buffer tube? Piston guns have been known to have carrier tilt issues. This would seem to be a long shot though since it did function in the beginning. I'd break it down again and make sure the gas block has not shifted or started leaking.
  17. Does it lock the bolt back even with a round in the magazine or is the bolt going back into battery without picking up a round?
  18. Sure sounds like an under-gassed issue. Does it move the bolt at all or does it stay in lock-up after a shot is fired?
  19. I'd grab one while it is there. They may very well decide to stop supporting the B model and just drop it.
  20. Piston gun.....do I understand correctly that you tried the full/adverse setting on the gas block and got the same results?
  21. Welcome from Iowa...this week anyway. I doubt you could use too much oil. Is this a piston gun or a direct impingement? Brass shavings in a new gun are pretty common in my experience, my Sig 716 looked like a glitter machine the first several hundred rounds. If it is a piston then it may be possible to foul the piston system with burnt oil but not probable. Field strip the BCG and make sure it is properly lubed. Check the extractor for brass shavings jamming it up .
  22. I'll be odd man out on one point. Several ranges I shoot at don't have much for concrete so those steel and aluminium cases left on the ground help add to the aggregate surface keeping my feet out of the mud and cutting down on the amount and frequency that rock needs to be added. Out of habit I pick up my aluminum cases but don't see the need for everyone to do it unless they are a trip hazard. Love RECOIL! Best rag I've subscribed to in decades.
  23. Gunbroker and gun shows would seem to be your best bet. You might have to buy an older Armalite just for the parts.....opps forgot you live in the people's republic so it would be a pricey endeavor. I'll keep my eyes peeled for one but it has been a good while since I last saw one on ebay.
  24. There are a couple tips in this thread from 2013, might take you some time for the carrier.
