They claim NATO spec, they do not meet the standard needed to put the NATO cross on it or they would. I noticed a substantial change in accuracy/consistency with it a bit over a year ago. Some chrono info would be interesting, I've shot it right along side some NATO head stamped M80 and had a 5-6 inch change in POI at 100 yards, much more than I've seen between the official head stamped varieties I have. Still good plinking ammo for the price though.

Finally got this rifle test fired. Once I got the gas adjusted there were no malfunctions with any of my mags. Running the buffer with no weights, the "enhanced" spring that has 10% less strength, 4 clicks open on the SLR gas block(5-6 clicks for cheap .223), and the d wilson lightweight BCG. A nice soft shooter just like I'd hoped for. The 8 year old granddaughter sent 15 rounds down range and pronounced it a "good gun", made grandpa smile!

Plano is not as clear as they should be but basically if "LIF" appears in the UPC then it is covered for life. Here is a basic review of several brands of cases; http://www.petersenshunting.com/gear-accessories/case-study-best-hard-rifle-cases-right-now/

Plano now makes a good option in their all weather line, I have one and it is right there with the Pelican for much less money; http://www.planomolding.com/tactical/all-weathertm-cases/108192 For a bit more they have a Mil-Spec version; http://www.planomolding.com/tactical/field-lockertm-mil-spec-cases/109501 Both do very well in comparison reviews.

Haven't seen it here in Iowa or in N.C. but the shelves were stocked last month in Sterling and Suffolk VA.

Very nice, looking forward to the range report.

It's a self fulfilling prophecy, they love to say they warned us about guns and violence.

I saw the same one, not sure if that was an Armalite metal mag or another brand of metal mag. -
Noobie. Hello from the last frontier! (HELP)

So you can put gas in it; transfers gas from the gas tube to inside the carrier where it pushes against the back of the bolt. -
Yep, I didn't have any issues with the Matrix factor of my 308 build but then I had the do's and don'ts already figured out for me here before I started buying parts. I went with a Matrix receiver set and rail for my lightweight AR-15 build and have been very satisfied with the parts on that one as well, great bang for my buck from Chris at Central Florida Firearms!

I sure miss taking my shift on overwatch during calving season, the one time of year the yotes made themselves easily available to me. Whack one for me Brother!

I think THE RULE gives a certain time limit then if nobody chimes in with a review it's on you. Here is a link to one for sale; http://www.reilens.com/mse-aqc-2c-reflex-sight-black.html On Optics Planet they list them as discontinued so maybe there is an issue with them; http://www.opticsplanet.com/mse-aqc1c-reflex-sight-35x24mm-cr123-battery-qd.html

THE RULE is how I ended up drilling out the gas port on my first 308 build, asked if anyone had heard of X-Caliber Barrels, nobody had tried one so now we all know about them....I got lucky, they were on sale and with the knowledge base here guiding me I was able to end up with a decent shooter. I've seen good reviews on the MSE but then they are from the same gun rags that gave the R-51 good reviews..................

Ahhhh, THE RULE. Yep looks like the rule is in play here, looking forward to hearing what this MSE is all about ;-)

Didn't even look at the date, just saw Shepps new post and a chance to help, should have finished my coffee first :-)

I won't rent them but I'll loan you receiver blocks, barrel blocks and 5.56 NATO headspace gauges. I will not be home to ship them till the end of March-first of April so if you can wait that long just PM me.

No chrono, it will be some time before I get one. Being out on the road I don't get any reloading time at home and barely have enough room to haul the gear I need to keep shooting while on the road. Someday I'll retire, go whole hog back into reloading, and get a chrono but for now the results on the paper is all I have to judge from.

I shot two five round groups of each, both were right about 1.5 MOA at 100 yards, I'll try them at 200 on a nicer day. They had about the same POI while the AE 168 load was 4-5 inches lower and about 2 MOA. It was raining like a horse pissing on a flat rock so I'm sure all will do better. Seems odd but the build appears to like the heavier and lighter bullet weights over the 168's. Likes the 130gr Mk319 and the 175's.

Got a chance to shoot the rifle from a real bench this morning, they have had two IBS national championships held here in Ashe county (2014 and 15) so it is a nice setup. Tried several different factory rounds, Outback with a 150 gr. Swift, Silver State 168 gr. match, PPU 168 gr. match, American Eagle M1A 168 gr. and then FGMM 7.62 175 gr. The FGMM shot the best, 1 MOA at 100 yards. The Outback 150 gr. did well also, posted info in the ammunition section on that. It was 40 degrees, no wind but a heavy rain so conditions were not great but I had the place to myself all morning. Used my Bushnell 1-6.5X so not exactly a target scope but got the group below at 200 yards, 5 rounds adjusting the scope between shots then let 10 go as fast as I could get back on target, gives me about 2.5 MOA 10 round group. With some patience I should be able to cut that down a bit but I was happy not to see the verticle stringing I had been seeing, guess most of that was the uncomfortable shooting position on the home range. I'm hoping for some better conditions soon so I can see what it looks like at 300 yards. I'm halfway there on the funding for a Bushnell 3.5-21X ERS, I hope to get some 1 MOA 10 round groups with that. Feels great to to be slinging some lead again!

I shot a box of this ammo out of my 16 inch 1/10 twist Matrix build today with decent results. I fired five round groups, 1 at 100 and 3 at 200 yards, getting 1 1/2 MOA without taking my time. There was no wind but it was 40 degrees and in a downpour so conditions were not optimal. The box claims 2854 fps so it is right there or past M80 ball but with a .430 BC. Looks like it would be a pretty good hunting round. It is a bit pricy at the LGS here, $27 a box, but I picked up another to try again at 300 yards on a fair weather day. http://www.outbackammo.com.au/308-win-150gr-swift-scirocco-ii-bts/ http://www.swiftbullets.com/products-s/1819.htm
