After the Shotgun News review I thought the ball would cause less wear on the upper. I do notice wear from the latch on my uppers but nothing like the wear shown in the video. As far as the charging handle hitting someone in the nose I've never seen it. Seems like there would have to be serious wear in other places besides just the latch area to cause that to happen?????

Glad a friend put me on this review before I laid out the cash; Looks like they chew on the upper a good bit..........maybe not ready for prime time yet.

Read about a new latchless charging handle in the latest Shotgun News, the Renegade from SLR Rifleworks; http://slrrifleworks.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=359 While I was searching for someplace I could order one I ran across another version from Butthead tactical; https://www.buttheadtactical.com/home.html Butthead has a 308 version listed but like SLR they don't seem to be available..........has anyone seen these for sale? ????

Very cool, first thing that caught my eye was the Nassau County Police anniversary pistol, my Uncle retired from there back in the 80's. C:-) <thumbsup>

The ones that come to the door are generally decent. Watch out for the midnight window tappers! -
Marcus Luttrell's guide to dating his daughter
jtallen83 replied to 98Z5V's topic in General Discussion
Hands down the most difficult, stressful task in my life was raising a daughter. Interactions with her suitors were as close as I've ever come to getting a criminal record.....thank god the police involved had daughters as well.......... -
Bushnell should fix it for you. I've had a range finder and a red dot in for warranty and they made things right, took months to get the red dot back but they did finally send a new one.

OpticsPlanet has it listed as a new model; http://www.opticsplanet.com/nikon-m-308-4-16x42mm-riflescope.html Maybe they made some changes so the older version is listed as discontinued???????

That's a future heirloom for sure, one sweet pair there!

It ran ok on the standard factory buffer but it felt a little smoother with the heavier buffer in. I also noticed the ejection pattern changed a bit, from an erratic 2-3 o'clock to around 4 o'clock with the brass in a tighter pile, less bending for my wrecked back is a welcome bonus. If the T3 buffer is to heavy then I'll just have to get an upper in a bigger caliber so I can use it ::) can't let a good part just sit around you know............

What Bushnell Elite model? I had been running a 4200 2.5 x 10 on my AR-10 for nearly 1,000 rounds and had good performance with it once I bought a solid mount. Moved it to a AR-15 with an 18 in target barrel so I'm looking for a new scope with a mil dot type reticle for the AR-10. I had planned on sticking with Bushnell Elite.........maybe I better take a closer look at the M308.........

Got the Flaming Pig installed along with a Spikes T2 buffer, works great. No function issues with 45, 55, 62, or 77 grain pills. I've got a T3 buffer on the way that I hope to try next weekend, just to see how smooth it can be. <thumbsup>

<dontknow> No trailer, no hitch......there is one on my GOV but I wouldn't dare try any type of personal use..... I travel light, aside from all the guns and ammo..........

I picked one of these up for just under $800 and have been real happy with it; http://www.bushnell.com/all-products/rifle-scopes/elite-tactical/smrs-1-6-5x-24mm-illuminated-btr-1-sfp

And a good permanent place to mount it! Constantly moving has it's downsides.........

Thanks, I've got a T2 in my Spikes/Armalite rifle right now. I think I'll get a T3 and see if the pistol likes it or the T2. Guess I should figure out what Sig put in there to start with........... Any suggestion on springs? Stick with the stock springs or try one of those "heavy" springs that get hyped up by the sellers? I finally found a guy here in Mississippi that will swap the flash hiders for me. Two in a row declined the work saying the factory bird cage was "too hard to get off"???? I tried again myself but my portable Stanley aluminum vise isn't up to the task, tears up the table and bends the mounting bolt.

I've always been curios why ArmaLite specifically says not to use a nylon brush for cleaning during the break in procedure? ????? http://www.armalite.com/images/Tech%20Notes/Tech%20Note%2028,%20Breaking%20in%20Match%20Barrels,%20030205.pdf

Hope the meds work for you. I have some back issues myself. I do my best to get by on ibuprofen but have Vicodin to supplement when absolutely needed. I use Gabapentin daily for the leg pain, hardly any side effects with it. I was having good results with Lyrica but changed insurance and they wouldn't pay so it was priced out of my reach. Be careful with the narcotics, they had me on Fentanyl patches for about 4 years till I realized it was going to kill me,felt great the first 3 years, felt like death was near when getting off of it! I thought I was tough enough to go cold turkey, took 3 months of misery, never again, I'll just suck it up and Ranger on before getting hooked again. I've yet to find anyone that has had surgery after 3 years or more that recommends it......

What do you have on order or in the mail? Part 2
jtallen83 replied to imschur's topic in General Discussion
Just ordered a Magpul ACS buttstock (suitable for butt stroking <laughs> ) MOE grip, and a couple 20 round p-mags, all for my Spikes / ArmaLite build. -
Wish he would have went away sooner, without inflicting all the pain,..... gave real firearms enthusiasts a bad rap. He creeped me out the first time I saw the show with his cult leader like attitude, good riddance! Too bad the media has to over-hype the hobby and make us all look crazy...well, maybe I am am a touch extreme <dontknow>
