  1. It didn't turn out to be anything special, not bad accuracy but nothing to brag about. Fit and finish is nice, cleans up easy due to the mirror finish on the bore. I have a BA match barrel that easily outshoots it for the same or maybe less money depending on sales.
  2. Welcome from Iowa, via Missouri!
  3. Sig finally got on board and put out a DI version of the 716; http://app.e.sigsauer.com/e/es?s=2133745391&e=50221&elqTrackId=efd74c1a1b7a40299e524d6e5aa03bea&elq=cd2b1b7b19044b86bd0e0289216ef06a&elqaid=288&elqat=1
  4. I bought a 16 inch rifle gas barrel from them when they first started doing them for large frame AR's, Interesting thread with their comments and customer service,they pop in on the third page;
  5. Beer pusher had four offerings from them, I picked up two. He said he was trying to get more beer from the Illinois/Wisconsin area, like I don't spend enough!
  6. Duck, Duck, JUICE! Hazy India Pale Ale from Cahoots Brewing, brewed and canned by Church Street Brewing Co in Itasca, IL. So the first thing to mind when I take whiff is juicy fruit gum. This one is a serious moving target of flavors. Starting I get some green grass bitter, light pine bitter, That gets washed away with a banana and malt sweetness. Then some tropical fruit flies by with a citrus chaser that brings it back to the dry side. It's not really fair to give these first or last flavors as they just keep bouncing back and forth long after a sip, This is a Peruvian flake for hop heads……..
  7. Thanks For Letting Us Play Tonight from Hoof Hearted Brewing in North Haven Conn. It's double dry hopped pale ale, aroma is a basic IPA, this one a little less citrus and more grass and pine. Flavor is thick, starts out a little pineapple and tropical melon but runs head long into a grapefruit pith fest. This gives way to a floral and pine note that actually seems to mellow the pithy dry in the middle. Crack for hop junkies………..
  8. I used a 5.56 AAC comp/flash hider on a 14.7" and had 16.2" overall. They have two different depth sockets so which one you get may change the measurement, I don't recall which I used. The Breakout in either 5.56 or 308 does a good job of balancing the two objectives, not near the best in either category but it works well. Works even better when the best muzzle device is added, a SDN-6 suppressor in my case.
  9. Welcome from Iowa!
  10. I use the clamp like that but use a little wooden block with a notch and a hole to set the bolt on when driving pins.
  11. Happy to see these around again, fantastic round for those short barrel 308's.
  12. I understand a little bump in paper prices, they have to put four people on a pallet when it comes out or people mob it before it hits the aisle! oh yeah that's walmart not ct F'n D, starting to get all these corporations confused.................
  13. and some excellent symbolism! Question for the more tech savy here, what does a person want to put in a post to get the algorithms to to guide others to the post? I had always taken the don't link them, don't use their names but after seeing more and more of my own search results I'm starting to question that approach.
  14. Sure looks tasty! I've only tried one stout with any chiles in it, Prairie something was the maker, I was surprised how well it works. Phantom Haze DIPA from Boulevard Brewing in KC Missouri. Has a citrus and bread aroma. Taste is citrus with some melon behind it. The malty backbone goes throughout and a bit of mild pine bitter at the finish. It has a very light feel that contradicts what you see with the thick murky haze, it would be a guzzler if it wasn't a 7.5 ABV. Good beer, better than the other Boulevard IPA offerings I have tried, they are heading the right direction for me.
  15. Better tight than loose! You can always polish the chamber some, can’t put it back if it’s loose. Chambers I have had that were really tight are the more accurate rifles I have built, it can be a pain getting going but tiny groups make you forget the aggravation.
  16. Sometimes rounding that bottom corner of the catch will let it come up higher. Here is a thread on bolt catch sizes from different makers; Mark on the brass looks to be from the lugs around the ramp, I have used a jewelers file and a stone to smooth some out, mostly though I let it wear in. The marks on the bullet I am not familiar with. I have never been impressed with tolerances on snap caps, I just don't use them after seeing them stick in chambers that had no issue with factory ammo.

    Doggy!!

Love that Brindle look, gonna be as great dog for the kids. One of the biggest downsides to my career on the road, wouldn't be fair to the dog leaving it for weeks at a time, cat doesn't give a schit what I do.
  18. Urayuli dry hopped pale ale from Abomination Brewing Co, brewed and canned by Twelve Percent in Stratford Conn. Has a light citrus aroma with a crackery, bready note. Has a tart pithy citrus taste with hints of malt in the background. There is some pineapple flavor but not sweet, a dryness but not overly bitter. Feels watery, not much body, a good one to crush. Good but I expected more with the Galaxy, Mosaic, and Citra hops.

  20. The accu-washer system is my go to, I set everything up for suppressors; https://precisionarmament.com/product/accu-washer-system/ I use Rocksett, when I need to remove a muzzle device I stand the barrel in a bucket with water covering the muzzle device overnight, they turn right off then. I rarely use more than twenty ftlbs. of torque despite what the manufacturers recommend, have not had an issue to date. Saw a study years ago that showed evidence of higher torques causing accuracy to fall off.
  21. Sun Reaper DIPA by Toppling Goliath Brewing of Dechora Iowa. I can't smell much with just getting over a cold but the citrus and pineapple aroma still got through. Maybe it's because I have not had a beer in almost a week but this schit is ambrosia! I would say a pineapple and citrus flavor to start but the flavor keeps changing, mango, passion fruit, almost any tropical fruit I am familiar with is here. It goes to a light piney dank at the finish but without much bitter. There is also a spicy hint throughout, like a hint of green sage. The mouth feel is soft, creamy, and a little oily. This is a top notch beer, gotta call the wife and tell her to pick more up before they are out!
  22. You can check when assembled , just easier beforehand. The field gauge isn’t really necessary, if the no go gauge fits you check the field gauge, if it goes then it’s not safe to fire. Even if it doesn’t go you could see some issues with the case due to the excessive headspace, myself I just call it a fail if the no go fits. Field gauges are generally used to check older used rifles, with new parts send it back if the no-go fits. Sometimes different bolts will give different results, I have a few spares and have swapped bolts to get the correct fit.
  23. Both Superlative and SLR adjustable gas blocks can be accessed from the front with a longer tool. Downside is the muzzle gets pointed in a bad direction while you try to hit the hole. SLR sells several different lengths.
  24. The only PRS stock I have used went on a rifle length extension, I don't know what they are available for now just trying to explain the differences in carbine extensions. Armalite also sells the buffer, spring, and extension in rifle length as a kit.
  25. Use the Armalite buffer kit and go with the Toolcraft BCG. Not sure on the LPK, is that what Live Free Armory recommends?
