  1. I know, it's the time to work out the bugs. But when you see the same problems year after year, you get a feel for what's about to transpire.
  2. Well, the pre-season actually began last night, and the more things change, the more they stay the same. Saints sucked as usual. Fumbles, interceptions, lack of effort by most of the receivers, arm tackling, give up long plays, and penalties, penalties, penalties. I want to think that this being such a young team they were just getting out some jitters, but I'm afraid that's wishful thinking. Highlight: rookie wide receiver Mike Thomas from Ohio St. (pains me to say that.) He is going to be all-pro. Lowlight: everything else. Remedies: trade running back Ingram for a 5th round draft choice, cut receiver Brandon Coleman, bring out a cat-o-nine-tails for the defense and use it after each missed tackle. Might work.
  3. I'm thinking of getting a strap-on shoulder pad. Not so much for recoil reduction, but to help damp out the micro movements from breathing, heartbeat, etc. Anyone have one, try one, recommend one? I use a shooting jacket in colder weather which works well, but that's only two months of the year here . Oh yeah, it's got to be for a lefty (shooter, not political.)
  4. Love that bolt face decal. Where'd you get it?
  5. If only...
  6. Aero has their AR15 blem lowers on sale for $63. Can't resist.
  7. Welcome aboard. With that line alone you just opened the floodgates. Everyone here is more than willing to help you spend your money
  8. Both Powdervalley and MidSouthShooterssupply have IMR 4064 in 1lb and 8lb kegs in stock. Reasonable (for today) prices.
  9. Stop talking about our former senator "Miss Piggy". She moved over to Canal St. anyway.
  10. I've got an extra, stock trigger group, very little used. I replaced it with a drop in trigger. $15 + shipping.
  11. C'mon. Somebody's got to want it.
  12. It is (sort of) comforting to know that stupidity isn't confined to North America.
  13. Got around to loading and shooting some rounds with IMR4064. I will say this... I wish I hadn't been afraid to try it because of its reputation for feeding like "Lincoln Logs" through a powder measure. Others are worse (H4895 comes to mind), the Uniflo cut a stick about every other throw, but it wasn't real bad. I tried loads of 41.67, 42.2, 42.6 and 43 underneath a 168 Nosler BTHP blem, 1x LC cases, 2.795" OAL. I like IMR4064. It seems to have a wide "sweet spot". All the loads were very good, but I'll go with 42.2 grains to finish out the bottle of powder. Began to get traces of the primers flattening with the 43 grain load but it wasn't bad. POA was dead center, 10 shots into each target. Interestingly, as the charge weight went up the point of impact systematically went down. I'll have to cogitate about that.
  14. +1 on that. They are so good they are invisible. they just plain work.
  15. Might be a great magic trick. Nah, he's just a stupid f*&k.
  16. So far so good. It's a 16" inside an Aeroprecision M-lok upper. Fit and finish was perfect. It's still breaking in, but I'd say it's easily under 2MOA with iron sights. Doesn't seem to lose accuracy with extended time and firing at the range. I'd buy another.
  17. Aero M5s receiver sets are great, as are the Matens. You can't go wrong with either.
  18. Great looking build. I especially like the Magpul buttstock.
  19. Minor update on the whole weapon. I really like this combination of parts, very easy to handle, good performance, FUN! Have about 300 more rounds thru it, not a single FTF or FTE. Perfect function. Only problem has been the hammer and trigger pins on the Rough Justice trigger. The were walking out after each session. I tried tightening down the set screws on the RJ trigger but that only slowed down the walking process, it didn't eliminate it. I suspect the polymer lower has a relatively low yield strength to the pressure exerted by the tiny diameter set screws (I contacted TNArms about this... haven't heard back.) I have a RJ trigger in my Maten, and the pins don't walk on that, it seemed to happen only on the polymer TNArms lower. I called Van and discussed it with him. He had not heard of this phenomenon before and suggested I get some anti walk pins. So I bought a set of CMC 0.154" anti walk pins for $11. Easy install, about 5 minutes. Both pins' ends are threaded to take a very small, unobtrusive screw. Tighten them down, done. Problem solved. Those of you with polymer lowers and drop-in triggers, you might keep an eye on the fire control group pins.
  20. Still available. Will make you a deal.
  21. Thx SS. I just wanted to shorten the experimentation process. 42.5 grains of IMR 4064 looks like a good starting point. the 41.5 listed in Hodgdon's reloading site as a starter seems to be just a bit lower than most people's pet loads. Anyone get pressure signs with IMR 4064 and at what charge level?
  22. I decided to break out my IMR 4064 and begin planning some loads (I just don't know why I keep experimenting . Must be something in the water) Anyone want to share their favorite IMR 4064 recipes for 168 and 175 BTHP in the AR?
