I was on tv yesterday. Local news asked to interview my wife and me for our upcoming gala/fundraiser on Friday, Oct. 7. https://www.facebook.com/larry.omahoney PS: someone else posted this video to my website for us. If others didn't post there, the page would be covered in electronic cob webs.

I'd love to get a moose someday. But I'll qualify your antelope. When I lived in CO I had a lot of antelope. Some was tasty, most of it was gamey at best. Low on my list of "eatable".

Chicom population control...

That's close enough.

Judging from the comments below the article, everyone seems skeptical. The price is right if it works, but I'll let someone else try it out. Isn't there a rule about people who post about new things having to buy and report on them?

Try TX Bourbon. Freakin' incredible and will put you in the right frame of mind!

Lends a whole (hole?) new meaning to "bi"-pod...

I really like the Syrac adjustable gas blocks, especially the Gen2. Very simple adjustment with a hex wrench and it helps create a very soft shooting rifle. Machining is superb. Their prices are mid-range between non-adjustable gas blocks and the uber-expensive ones.

I don't know if this is quite the right place, but if you're looking for an upright charity to donate: www.kellykickingcancer.org My wife and I started this foundation after our daughter Kelly passed away from an inoperable brain tumor. We are a 501c3, completely volunteer foundation. Our mission is to fund advanced brain cancer research in search of a cure. No one gets a salary. As a result, the funds we raise go directly to advanced brain cancer research. After only 6 months of existence, we made our first donation in November 2015 to the ABTA (American Brain Tumor Association) of $7500. In June of this year we made a $25,000 donation to the Kenneth Peak Brain and Pituitary Research Center at Houston Methodist, and we still have our fall gala to go in October. If you want to help, please do. Larry/mineralman55

It was just one of those days where everything converges, just in the wrong direction. Hey, nothing exploded, so it's all good. I'm an experimenter. Can't help myself. I've tried a lot of powders over the years, and the best combos have been: 40.5 gr AA2520, 168 Sierra Matchking 42.8 Match Rifle, 168 Sierra Matchking 41.8 RL15, 168 Sierra Matchking 39 TAC, 168 Hornady BTHP All use 1x LC cases, WIN LR primers, seated to 2.795" +-0.003". All consistently gave <2MOA @ 100 yds. with iron sights. Varget produced similar results, but kicked like a mule, so I save that for the 30-06. I've got a bunch of Nosler 155s, 168s and 175s courtesy of Shooter's Pro Shop. The overrun bullets are good to go, the "blems" are sometimes iffy. So, if anyone has an AA2495 recipe they like, let me know. BTW, I have had correspondence with Hodgdon in the past regarding their Superformance powder, and they emphatically said it is NOT for gas rifles. Probably better to cross that one off the list for our 308ARs.

I finally got out to the range yesterday after what seemed like months of down time, mostly to test out some new loads with AA2495 and get some quality time with my Mega308. It is good there aren't too many days like yesterday, because I'd consider finding another hobby. First, the accuracy wasn't impressive, I was hoping for better, but I haven't had good luck with AA2495 in either 5.56 or 7.62 to date. Then, as I'm squeezing off a round "blamblam". A double. Never had that before. Squeeze off another and "blamblam". Whoa. I look at the bench and one of my RJ trigger pins is lying there! The other pin is working its way out. Geez! Strip the rifle down, get out my allen wrenches, remove the upper set screws, tighten down the lower ones, reinstall the upper locking screws. everything is tight. Fine, get back to shooting. A few minutes later, the bolt catch release falls out! The allen screw pin holding it in place has fallen out! Oh, com'on now. Get out the allen wrenches again, fuss with it a few minutes until it is reassembled, give the entire rifle a once over, and continue shooting. No more incidents for the day, but I was feeling a bit snake-bit at that point. This is the second time the pins have worked their way out of a rifle with a drop in trigger, so I'm getting an anti-walk pin set to replace things. Okay, lessons learned. Check your equipment even for a routine trip to the range. BTW, if anyone has a quality recipe using 155, 168 or 175 BTHP and AA2495 in 7.62 I'd appreciate it. If I can't get this stuff to work someone is going to get a heck of a deal on a couple kegs of it.

Would you like a few?

Anyone seen any sweet deals in triggers for labor day?
mineralman55 replied to EasyEJL's topic in Triggers
At a lgs yesterday, they had CMC triggers on display. A CMC 3.5 lb single stage drop-in trigger for $169! Not on sale. It was a nice looking piece of equipment. If anyone is looking for a drop-in trigger, shop around. You might find a good price. -
BTW, I was at a lgs yesterday, and they had a DD 7.62x51 on display. It wasn't just nice, it was spectacular! Felt smaller in the hands than an AR15, very small diameter keymod rail. Still relatively heavy, but part of that was the bipod attached to it. Great piece of equipment.

Don't care for the Packers, but Nelson is a decent and honorable man, unlike some of the trash in the NFL.

Humpff. Look like Detroit. Or New Orleans.

You guys don't have an M14 (or two or three)? Geez, you're missing out . I don't know who the author is, don't care. He's got an agenda (stock in 308AR parts manufacturing, who knows?) For all its faults when in full-auto, the M14 is a superbly accurate rifle in semi-auto. It requires more care and attention during the build than an AR-style rifle does, but the worst aspect concerning its future use is the parts supply is drying up. Unless that is addressed, the M14 will pass into U.S. military history forever.

Ha, ha, ha. I wouldn't own a Chrysler product if it was the only vehicle left on earth. Had one once. POS from start to finish.

Geez. You sound like a, a, a DEMORAT!

I have a used 20" Bison Armory, black cerecoated barrel with a rifle length gas system. Probably 600-700 rounds through it. I could let you have it for $175 plus shipping.

What do you have on order or in the mail? Part 2
mineralman55 replied to imschur's topic in General Discussion
A bunch of powder from Mid South. They had $15 hazmat, and several powders I like. A neighbor and I split an order so shipping and hazmat are halved for us. -
Geissele Super 42 Braided Spring Buffer Combo
mineralman55 replied to survivalshop's topic in General Discussion
Don't get me wrong. I hope you enjoy this new product. But I have to ask, how many of you have had a recoil spring fail or wear out? Cool product, but it seems to be a product that answers a question no one asked. -
F'ing morons. Throw them in jail and lose the key. I am referring to the newscasters. How many times did the bubble-headed blonde emphasize "assault rifles". Throw the a$$hole protesters in the same jail cell as the Pravda-west fools. That would be quality TV!

The weekend started out the same as too many weekends down here this year... rain. Daughter's volleyball tournament was rained out Friday as teams couldn't get here. Couldn't get to the range, but at least I didn't have to cut the lawn. Sunday, rains kept coming. We went to Mass at 7AM, on the drive home 18-wheelers were backed up on the entrance ramps for about a mile, with police cordoning off the interstate. Everything west to Baton Rouge was closed, with pockets of drivers stranded the entire way on "islands" on the interstate. The rivers may have crested by mid-morning today. Hope so.

We're okay, thanks. High and dry. But we brought lots of food to some friends north of us who were flooded out again. They were just on the verge of getting their house repaired from the March floods and they got 8" of water in the house. Had a work party at their house Sunday so we fed them.
